Indiana sports run on four levels at once. The Colts, Pacers, and Fever carry the pro side out of Indianapolis. What pro sports teams play in Indiana?
Indianapolis carries most of the pro calendar: the Colts in the NFL at Lucas Oil Stadium, the Pacers and the Indiana Fever at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, the Indianapolis Indians at Victory Field, and Indy Eleven in soccer. Indy Ignite plays pro volleyball at the Fishers Event Center, and Fort Wayne FC plays in the northeast.

Indiana in Bloomington, Purdue in West Lafayette and Notre Dame in South Bend set the calendar, with Butler and Ball State close behind. The small-college rivalries count too: the Monon Bell Classic is one of the oldest trophy games in college football.

How does the IHSAA state tournament work?
Most IHSAA team sports run the same ladder: sectional, then regional, then semi-state, then the state finals. Sectional week is the round fans travel for, and the finals move between host venues. IHSAA volleyball moved its finals to Gainbridge Fieldhouse in 2025.
