Friday, Oct. 30 | Class 1A Championship | 8:30 p.m. ET
#4 Providence Pioneers (13-5) vs. #7 Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian Braves (17-2-3)
Providence is no stranger to this stage of the IHSAA girls soccer state tournament, with this being the Pioneers’ fourth state finals appearance overall. They won the 1A title in 2011, taking a scoreless tie to a penalty-kick shootout where they topped Mishawaka Marian 3-1. The following year they lost 2-0 in regulation against that same Mishawaka Marian squad in the 1A final. Providence returned to the 1A championship game again in 2024 but came up short in a 2-1 loss to Faith Christian.
The 2026 Pioneers went 8-5 in the regular season, with their losses coming to out-of-state Assumption (Louisville, Ky.) and four in-state schools in bigger classes – 3A #16 Lawrenceburg (4-0), 2A #15 Heritage Hills (1-1, 4-3 SO), 3A Jasper (3-0), and 3A New Albany (2-1).
They have navigated the postseason without conceding a goal in all five games, outscoring opponents 23-0. They blanked Salem 13-0 and Christian Academy 4-0 to roll through their sectional. In the regional, the Pioneers used a first-half goal by senior Cooper Stiefvater to defeat #3 Forest Park 1-0 before blitzing #15 White River Valley in the championship with three first-half scores in a 4-0 victory. In semi-state, Stiefvater scored early once again, and the Pioneers pitched a 1-0 shutout against #6 Switzerland County behind freshman goalkeeper Olivia Troutman’s nine saves.
The Pioneers are led by the senior Stiefvater, who has a team-high 21 goals and 16 assists.
Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian is making its first trip to the girls soccer state finals.
Like the Pioneers, the Braves haven’t lost to a 1A school this season. They went 11-2-3 in the regular season, falling to 2A #8 Leo (2-1) and 2A #12 Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran (5-0), while earning ties against 3A Fort Wayne Northrop (2-2), 2A Fort Wayne Bishop Luers (3-3) and 1A #8 Elkhart Christian Academy (0-0).
In six postseason games, Blackhawk Christian has outscored opponents 21-5. In sectionals the Braves ran past Central Noble 6-0 and Fort Wayne Canterbury 4-1 before winning a 3-2 thriller over #2 Westview in the championship. After beating Argos 2-1 and #11 Trinity Academy 3-0 in regionals, they erased #5 Oak Hill 3-1 at semi-state.
The Braves are led by junior Shalom Opliger, who has scored in all six playoff games, including two goals apiece in four of those contests. She leads the team with 29 goals and is tied for 10th in Class 1A in goals.
Saturday, Oct. 31 | Class 2A Championship | 1:30 p.m. ET
#1 Evansville Memorial Tigers (19-2-1) vs. #10 Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles (9-7-2)
These two teams met in the regular season on Sept. 19 at Guerin Catholic, and Evansville Memorial walked away with a 3-0 win behind two goals scored by senior Brynna Alpers.
The mountain to climb for the Golden Eagles is a tall one, not only because the Tigers beat them on their home field in the regular season, but if there was ever a program taking up real estate annually at the IHSAA girls soccer state championships, it’s Evansville Memorial. The Tigers are making their ninth appearance in a girls soccer state final, second most in state history behind Carmel’s record of 16. Evansville Memorial won it all in the single-class format in 1996 and 2008 and claimed 2A titles in 2012, 2017, 2021 and 2022. The Tigers were single-class runner-ups in 1995 and 1998.
The 2026 Tigers went 13-2-1 in the regular season, losing to 2A #5 Evansville Mater Dei (2-1) on Aug. 25 and 3A #6 Zionsville (2-0) on Sept. 4. Since the loss to Zionsville, they won seven straight, tied 3A Bloomington South (2-2), and then rattled off another eight consecutive wins. Most impressively, they have outscored opponents 113-14 this season.
Their postseason run includes a sectional championship win over #5 Mater Dei (3-0), regional wins against #15 Heritage Hills (4-0) and #7 Batesville (4-1), and a semi-state victory over #6 Tri-West Hendricks (6-0).
Junior midfielder Avery Slade is a points machine for the Tigers. She leads Class 2A with 21 assists and has also found the back of the net 36 times, tied for fourth most in 2A.
Guerin Catholic is making its fourth trip to the girls soccer state finals and is seeking its second title. The Golden Eagles were the 3A runner-up in 2017 and 2020 and captured the 2A crown in 2023, beating Leo 1-0.
The Golden Eagles played a gauntlet of a regular-season schedule, starting 0-4 out of the gate, going 2-6-1 against ranked opponents and 4-7-2 overall. They lost their first four games of the season to 3A #3 Westfield (3-1), 3A #6 Zionsville (3-1), 2A #11 Bishop Chatard (2-1) and 2A #4 Brebeuf Jesuit (2-0), ended the skid with a 2-1 win over 2A #9 Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger, tied 2A #14 Heritage Christian (2-2), lost to 2A #1 Evansville Memorial (3-0), shut out 3A #13 Cathedral (1-0), and lost to 3A #1 Hamilton Southeastern (8-0).
Those regular-season battles prepared Guerin Catholic for postseason play, to say the least. The Golden Eagles avenged their previous loss to #4 Brebeuf Jesuit, winning 2-1 in sectionals, and followed that with a scoreless tie and win in penalty kicks (4-2) against #3 Park Tudor. They took down #18 Delta 3-0 and unranked Culver Academies in regionals, and then knocked off #2 South Bend St. Joseph 1-0 in semi-state on a second-half goal scored by freshman Lainey Yohe.
Yohe and senior forward Ashley Peters are tied for the team lead with nine goals apiece.
And if you count ‘em up, 13 of the Golden Eagles’ 18 games have come against ranked opponents.
Saturday, Oct. 31 | Class 3A Championship | 6:30 p.m. ET
#5 Center Grove Trojans (17-2-2) vs. #1 Hamilton Southeastern (22-0)
Center Grove is back in the girls soccer state finals for a third time and is seeking the program’s first championship. The Trojans were runner-up in the single-class format in 1997 and the 3A final in 2024, when they lost 3-1 to Noblesville.
The Trojans went 11-2-2 in the regular season, tying Kentucky power Central Hardin (0-0, currently 22-0-3 on the season) and 3A #7 Noblesville (1-1), while losing to 3A #2 Homestead (3-1) and 3A #16 Lawrenceburg (2-1).
In the postseason, they won their sectional final over #17 East Central (3-0) and regional final over #10 Evansville North (3-1). Center Grove then cruised past Brownsburg in semi-state, 8-1.
The offense runs through senior Mia Marlin, whose 27 goals are tied for fifth most in 3A.
Hamilton Southeastern hasn’t lost since Oct. 12, 2024, when Noblesville ended the Royals’ perfect season with a 1-0 triumph in the sectional final. Since then? The program’s first state championship in 2025, 44 wins and one tie in their last 45 games played. It’s no wonder they’re ranked #1 nationally in fall girls soccer.
This season the Royals mostly bludgeoned their opponents, with only two games decided by a one-goal margin and three more decided by two.
In sectionals they raced past #9 Mt. Vernon 4-0, survived #2 Homestead 4-3 in the regional final, and sent #14 Crown Point packing with a 5-0 win at semi-state.
Junior forwards Sydney May and Skylar Mueller get it done for the Royals up front, scoring 27 and 22 goals, respectively.
