Week 6 of the 2026 Indiana high school football season is in the books. Friday, Sept. 25, and Saturday, Sept. 26, brought 151 games and 8,134 points, an average of 53.9 points per game. Lafayette Jeff had the widest margin, 76-0 at Anderson, and the Knightstown Panthers were one point behind, beating Cambridge City Lincoln 75-0. Brownsburg won the No. 1 vs. No. 2 game in Class 6A, 38-14 over Westfield. Thirty-two games were shutouts, 25 were decided by eight points or fewer, four went to overtime, and three previously unbeaten teams lost. Thirty-five teams are still perfect.

The Knightstown Panthers dominate: 75-0
Knightstown put up the second-widest margin in the state on Friday, beating Cambridge City Lincoln 75-0 at home in a Tri-Eastern Conference game.
The Class 1A Panthers are 4-2 and 4-1 in the Tri-Eastern. They have outscored Union County, Union City and Cambridge City Lincoln 194-0 in their last three conference games, and both of their losses came against teams that are still unbeaten: Hagerstown (34-14 in Week 1) and Eastern Hancock (48-12 in Week 5). The biggest blowouts
Lafayette Jeff, No. 7 in Class 5A, won 76-0 at Anderson for the widest margin of the week and moved to 4-2. Anderson is 0-6 and was on the wrong end of the state's widest margin for the second straight Friday after losing 78-0 to Kokomo in Week 5. South Putnam, No. 2 in Class 2A, won 70-0 at West Vigo, and Eastern Hancock, No. 10 in 2A, beat Park Tudor 68-0.

The offense had a night: Maconaquah 77, Northwestern 35
Maconaquah beat Northwestern 77-35 at home. The 112 combined points were the most of any game this week, and no team scored more than Maconaquah's 77. The Braves are 6-0. North Posey and South Spencer were one point behind at 111 in a 56-55 overtime game (more on that below).
In the Metropolitan Conference, Carmel's Mychael Lewis ran 21 times for 211 yards and three touchdowns in a 65-31 win at North Central, according to IndyStar. Fishers freshman Roman Wessel went 36 for 53 for 439 yards and four touchdowns in a 36-26 loss at Avon. In Mooresville's 49-28 home win over Franklin, Elijah Hill completed 21 of 27 passes for 323 yards and four touchdowns.
How the No. 1 teams handled Week 6
All six teams that entered the week at No. 1 in the IFCA poll won. Brownsburg's 38-14 win over No. 2 Westfield was its 25th straight, a run that goes back to the 2024 sectional. East Central, the Class 4A No. 1, went to Ohio and won 24-21 at Harrison. Riverton Parke, No. 1 in Class 1A, won 61-6 at South Vermillion. New Palestine, Evansville Memorial and Brownstown Central all won by 35 points or more.

Warren Central (No. 3 in 6A) and Lawrence North (No. 5 in 6A) played on Saturday. Warren Central beat Pike 35-0, and Lawrence North beat Ben Davis 54-28 at the Circle City Classic. That sets up Lawrence North at Warren Central in Week 7.
Upsets and unbeatens that fell
Eleven of the 60 teams in the IFCA top 10s lost in Week 6. Seven of them lost to unranked Indiana teams. In the Hoosier Conference, West Lafayette, 0-5 coming in, won 42-21 at Twin Lakes, No. 8 in Class 3A, for its first win of the season. Griffith stayed 6-0 by beating Rensselaer Central, No. 9 in Class 2A, 49-14 on the road, and 6-0 Danville won 49-19 at Yorktown, No. 8 in Class 4A.
Decatur Central won 42-27 at Plainfield, No. 6 in Class 5A, as senior Hunter Harvey ran 25 times for 158 yards and two touchdowns (IndyStar). Lowell beat Hobart, No. 9 in Class 4A, 41-26. In the Allen County Athletic Conference, South Adams, No. 8 in Class 1A, beat Adams Central, No. 7 in Class 3A, 21-16. Junior quarterback Zaden Baumer threw three first-half touchdown passes, and the win ended Adams Central's 33-game conference winning streak, according to the Journal Gazette. Castle, No. 8 in Class 5A, lost 21-7 at Evansville Reitz, No. 7 in 4A. Cathedral, No. 2 in Class 5A, lost 17-10 at Trotwood-Madison in Ohio and is 3-3.

Down the list, Fort Wayne Luers beat Fort Wayne Concordia 35-7 for its first win of the season. TJ Epperson Jr. ran 20 times for 140 yards and four touchdowns, according to Outside the Huddle. New Prairie beat South Bend Riley 24-14 for its first win, and Indianapolis Attucks won 22-13 at Southport.
Finishes worth replaying
Four games went to overtime. At Concord, No. 10 in Class 5A, Mishawaka missed a 35-yard field goal with 40 seconds left in regulation. Concord scored first in overtime and kicked the extra point for a 35-28 lead. Mishawaka quarterback Landon Snyder answered with a 3-yard touchdown run, and the Cavemen went for two. Amir Dean took a pitch from Snyder and got into the end zone for a 36-35 win, according to The Elkhart Truth.
Huntington North won 31-28 at DeKalb in two overtimes. Gavin Sink kicked a field goal on the first possession of the second overtime, and DeKalb missed a field goal try that would have forced a third. DeKalb quarterback Xavier Vice ran 33 times for 148 yards and two touchdowns (KPCNews). North Posey, No. 8 in Class 2A, stayed unbeaten with a 56-55 overtime win at South Spencer. Cade Mauck had 151 rushing yards, 108 receiving yards and four touchdowns for North Posey, and South Spencer's Tre Lance ran 39 times for 195 yards and five touchdowns, per the Courier & Press. Salem won the fourth overtime game, 37-29 at Corydon Central.

Coach milestones
Nick Hart won his 150th game as Gibson Southern's head coach, 42-35 at Heritage Hills. Gibson Southern, No. 4 in Class 3A, is 5-1, and Hart is 150-30. Two more coaches reached round numbers on the same night:

South Putnam leads the state in average scoring margin (50.3) and scoring offense (55.8 points a game), and it ranks fourth in scoring defense. Brownstown Central, the Class 2A No. 1, still has the stingiest defense at 4.5 points allowed per game. Averages are from John Harrell's Indiana high school football data through Sept. 27.

Both teams are 6-0, Memorial is No. 1 in Class 3A, and Reitz is No. 7 in Class 4A after beating Castle 21-7 at home. It is a Southern Indiana Athletic Conference game. In Indianapolis, Lawrence North goes to unbeaten Warren Central, and Westfield tries to bounce back against Avon.
