If you're making the trip for Final Four weekend, this is everything you need to know about where to stay, where to eat, how to get around, and how to experience downtown Indy like a local.

Why Indianapolis Keeps Getting the Final Four
Lucas Oil Stadium sits in the middle of a walkable downtown core connected by a skywalk system, surrounded by hotels, restaurants, and convention space all within a few blocks of the stadium entrance. The infrastructure that made Indy the most March Madness-obsessed city in America is the same infrastructure that makes it the easiest Final Four host city to navigate as a visitor.
The 2026 Men's Final Four semifinal games are Saturday, April 4 at Lucas Oil Stadium. The national championship game is Monday, April 6. Events and fan experiences run from Thursday, April 2 through Monday night.

Where to Stay for the Final Four in Indianapolis
Your hotel choice downtown comes down to one thing: proximity to the skywalk system. The skywalks connect major hotels to the Indiana Convention Center, which leads directly toward Lucas Oil Stadium. If April weather gets unpredictable (and in Indianapolis, it will), you can walk from your room to your seat without stepping outside.
JW Marriott Indianapolis is the unofficial Final Four headquarters. The blue glass tower is connected to the Convention Center via skywalk and puts you steps from Georgia Street, where the outdoor fan zones and pep rallies will be running all weekend.
Hyatt Regency Indianapolis is another skywalk-connected option with direct Convention Center access and a central downtown location.
Omni Severin Hotel is a strong pick if you want a more historic feel. It's blocks from the stadium and has been a downtown anchor for over a century.
Crowne Plaza at Union Station is the wildcard. You can sleep in converted Pullman train cars inside the historic Indianapolis Union Station. It's a genuinely unique Indianapolis experience, and it's a short walk to the stadium.
Signia by Hilton is Indy's newest convention hotel, adding 800 rooms to the south side of the Convention Center. If it's open by April, it immediately becomes one of the most convenient options for Final Four visitors.
Book early. Final Four hotel inventory in downtown Indy moves fast, and prices spike as the event approaches.
Where to Eat Near Lucas Oil Stadium
Final Four weekend is one of the biggest dining weekends of the year in Indianapolis. Reservations at the top downtown spots will fill weeks in advance, so plan ahead or arrive early to the walk-in-friendly options.
St. Elmo Steak House is the iconic downtown steakhouse and the restaurant most associated with major Indianapolis sporting events. The shrimp cocktail is famous for a reason. Its sister restaurant, Harry & Izzy's, offers a similar menu in a slightly more casual setting and tends to be the go-to for alumni group dinners. Both will require reservations well in advance.
Shapiro's Delicatessen is a legendary pre-game spot just a five-minute walk south of the stadium. It's been serving corned beef, matzo ball soup, and cafeteria-style comfort food since 1905. No reservations, just grab a tray and go.
For late-night options after the games, Kilroy's on Georgia Street is a downtown staple known for its stuffed breadsticks and will be packed with college basketball fans all weekend. Yard House offers a massive tap list if you're looking for something more low-key. The District Tap is another solid call for the watch party crowd with wall-to-wall TVs and high energy all weekend.

How to Get Around Downtown Indianapolis During the Final Four
Downtown will shift into pedestrian-first mode for the weekend, particularly along Georgia Street and around the Convention Center. That's great for walking, but it changes the driving and parking picture.
Take the IndyGo Red Line. If you're staying in Broad Ripple, Fountain Square, or near the University of Indianapolis, the Red Line is the most efficient way to get downtown without dealing with event parking that can run $50 to $100 near the stadium. It runs frequently and drops you within walking distance of Lucas Oil and Georgia Street.
Parking strategy: Expect premium rates at the garages closest to Lucas Oil, including the S. Missouri St. Garage and the IFA Lot on S. West St. directly across from the stadium. Most locals recommend parking further north near the Indianapolis Cultural Trail and walking down. You'll save money and skip the post-game gridlock.
Use the skywalk system. The skywalks connecting the JW Marriott, Hyatt Regency, and other downtown hotels to the Convention Center are one of Indianapolis' best-kept secrets for visitors. You can get from hotel to stadium without dealing with weather or street crowds, especially when Georgia Street is converted into the outdoor fan zone.
The Gainbridge Fieldhouse Triple-Header
Don't overlook Sunday, April 5. While the DI teams rest between the semifinals and Monday's championship, Gainbridge Fieldhouse will host the Division II, Division III, and NIT championship games back-to-back-to-back. One ticket, three national champions crowned in one building in one afternoon.
For basketball fans who want to soak in as much of the week as possible, Sunday at Gainbridge is one of the best-value days of the entire Final Four weekend. It's the kind of thing that only happens because Indianapolis is hosting all four championships at once.
Plan Your Final Four Weekend in Indy
Indianapolis has hosted this event more than almost any city in the country, and the infrastructure shows. Stay connected to the skywalk, eat somewhere worth remembering, take the Red Line if you can, and give yourself time to soak in a downtown that transforms completely when March Madness arrives.
