Like, I like I like to use people's phones or, you know, things from around the room. Oh, I it's it's more impressive when you do it with the ordinary, I think.
Dude, I'm so I'm like keeping an eye on my studio because I know that there's gonna be something missing. It's gonna pop out from behind my ear. Yeah. Okay. Okay. So, you take me through I mean, we'll start at the beginning.
We can go through them. Yeah. So, let's just picture that we already did all the boring parts. You shuffled the cards. We spread them out. You picked a card.
You remember what it was. And then I turned my back so you put it back in. You thought you'd be funny that you remember you you turned it upside down and then we put them away. But let's just fast forward through all that and go to the end where I said I was going to find your card, but I wanted you to be honest and you told me what it was. Do you remember what the card was? I remember what card I'm I'm thinking of.
Yeah. What was it? You want me to tell you it? Yeah. Yeah. The three of spades.
Yeah. Cuz remember when you spread it I spread the cards out, you stuck it in here and I think it went under the 10 of hearts. I think. Did it? Either that's a story or it really happened and we forget. Oh gosh.

Whatever you're picking, just make it the top one. And you can put it in the cup if you're afraid we'll see it or you could cover it on the table. It doesn't matter.
The cup's just optional cuz I genuinely don't want to know what it is. But then we can check the cup to know. Uh and you can make it random or or pick one right now. All right. Close your eyes. Close them all the way.

What we're not watching for is a tell. We're watching for when you're relaxed versus when you're stressed. And you were relaxed the whole time, which tells me either you passed it right away, and it's very low, like a one, or it was far away.

They jabbed it with a steak knife. So, now it's got this big hole in it. But I decided to actually save it instead of throwing it away and use it for a really important question because magic is real or not real. I believe there are magical things that can happen. Okay. Yeah.
So then I would ask you this day has had a lot of that. And a lot sometimes it's an illusion. Is that fair? Yeah. Something could be happening that isn't necessarily happening. Yeah.
So this is a I love to ask this question this quarter. Is it going through? Yeah. It's going real or illusion? That's real. And I'm going to give you a different angle and it may change your mind, right?

I mean, I don't know if I'm a skeptic, but here's what I want you to do, Nate. You're a nice guy. You'd be very polite. You'd probably go to the end of this all smiles and make me look good, and then later tell your editors in the other room, "All right, I did see this one thing. I don't know what it was. It look a little fishy."
So, I do want you to call me out on this one. Okay. Okay. Not all of them, but this one, of course. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. Um, I just want everyone to know that I have not been playing along with any games. Like, I walked in here fully prepared to like go back into the cameras and figure it out. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Like I'm we're going to have to use some super slow-mo. Okay. So, we've got a full I think it's a full deck of cards. It's pretty close to one. Um for this one, it it doesn't actually matter if I see the card. Yeah.
But in case you think that it's somehow giving me an advantage, I won't look. Okay. And but I will let you see them all. Because one thing a magician's really good at doing is um forcing. Have you heard of this term force? Like right now, if I just spread the cards out and had you stop on one Yeah.
Touch. Touch the one you want us me to stop on. You're going to think it's random, but I always know it's Oh, yes. This one here. Is that the one you want? Take it.
Take it. Take it. I don't want it anymore. Oh. Oh. Oh.
But did you see how it was stuck out more? Yeah. This is something magicians will do. It's they like Yeah. Like it makes me gravitate towards or as you bring your finger out, they'll push it to you. But but here literally just here anyone you want.
Just take one out. So like you're forcing this card on me right now. Yeah. So try to mess this up. I actually want you to work against me on this one. It's the skeptic card trick.
So, go. Okay. Are you ever familiar with like sports gambling? Anyone familiar with sports gambling? Not really. Okay.
Well, there's like a term where you call like fade. Okay. Which would be like I do the opposite. So, you say bet on the Colts. Like you say, take this card. I'm going to fade myself.
Fade. I'm going to fade myself and I'm going to pick the exact opposite card that you think I should take, which is the one that's right below the card that you wanted me to take. It's terrific. Or was that be what someone or or was I already a step ahead? Or was would an idiot do that? Would an idiot fade him?
Maybe I should fade fading myself. Yeah. And put this back, right? And then go one card ahead and then jumble that and then take this card. All right, I'm taking this. Or if you have cards in this room, I'll use yours.
It legit doesn't matter. If I have cards in this room, you planted them here somewhere. All right, I have my card. Yeah. What I want you to do is make it personal. Uh another thing magicians will sometimes do is they'll use duplicate cards.
You'll see this sometimes when they'll tear it up or destroy it and they find it later. It seems impossible. It's just another card. So, this will guarantee your card can't be uh duplicated. What's on this? Oh, it helps it not roll around in my case.
Mhm. All right. So, but don't just sign it. That's pretty expected. Put something on here we don't know about you, Nate. Uh nothing too personal, but maybe like a middle name or a pet's name or a place you want to visit.
Man, when he was saying he has all this time in the world, he wasn't kidding. That's great. All right. Um, I want you to put it back anywhere in the deck. And it's okay if I see where it goes. Okay?
Because what I'm going to do is I'm going to show our audience at home if that's all right. Yeah, sure, buddy. Which camera is this? Good. Yeah. Yeah, right there.
Yeah. Okay. He cannot see those. Okay. You know what? I just realized there is a screen up there.
So, there's a chance that maybe that was my way of peing it, right? So, for the rest of the trick, I probably shouldn't get to look at the cards. Okay. Just to make it more fair. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. The other thing a magician will do is they'll shuffle the cards. With every shuffle, they're trying to convince you that they are about to do something difficult. Mhm. And and you might expect that every time I shuffle, I'm making this harder for myself, but really you're organizing it the way you want. In our world, there's it's called a false shuffle where I actually can control your card and I know where it is every time.
Like I know it's on the top, but you are. But that's not the end of the trick. That that for for some magicians that would be, but for me, I'm here to work. So, you know that by the way you shuffle, if you put it a certain place, it's going to go like seven cards down, then seven cards down, then seven cards down. Absolutely. It's called It's called the control.
So, I'm going to give you a chance to mix them. Yeah. Yeah. So, go ahead and just do that. How do you Anyway, of course, because later when you're putting this back together, you're going to realize I could have taken any card I wanted. I could have put it anywhere I wanted.
I could have shuffled as long as I wanted. and later you're going to wear his sleeves up. For the record, they were I'm doing this as fair as I can. Now, the question I'm going to ask you, do you still think your card is even in there? Can I check? Well, but I'm You can, but I'm curious to know, do you think that somehow in all of this misdirection that I'm not worried about you shuffling because I've actually already claimed the card and protected it?
It's probably like in your mouth or something. I watched him do that last time. It was crazy. Do you want to check and see if it's still in there? Does it does that give you any uh I don't know. Like Yeah.
Just just be mindful that you aren't 100% confident it's there and we'll continue. Should I check? You can if you want. It's whatever closure you need. Is it is it a better trick if you know it's there and then you you're going to produce it out? Maybe.
We're kind of We're just kind of jazzing right now. Uh okay. I kind of Well, I just found out it's in there. It is in there. My card is in here. I repeat, my card is in here.
I have closure that my card, if it was not in there, that would still be kind of impressive that somehow I've gotten it out. But the fact that it's still in there does give you more confidence that your mixing is actually making a difference. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Wait, hold on.
I'm going to I think that there's something there's something fishy going on here. Okay. Give him back a jumble. Yeah. You like this? Yeah, that's great.

On October 3rd, you're the host of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana's biggest fundraiser of the year.
You have personal experience with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana. talk to me about what the program is like, like what happens, how do people get involved? Yeah, I I I think sometimes we can get intimidated when we hear a word like mentoring. You know, we think, "Oh, we're going to help raise this child and everything." No, what they really want is connection. And a lot of times that happens in play.
A lot of time that happens just in casual conversation. It's the relationship that you're able to form with this little. It's it's transformative both ways. That is crazy. So last year, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana, they served over 1,200 young people uh across Hamilton, Johnson, Marian County. This year, their goal is to help support over 1,400 young people in central Indiana.
That's crazy. It is crazy. So, take us through like what what can we expect by attending the event? Yeah, it's uh it's going to be a lot of fun. And if you've ever been to an event, it it risks just being a night where you eat, you listen to some speeches, and you golf clap. Yeah.
But they've taken this event to the whole next level. There's going to be entertainment. What gets you the most excited? Well, in addition to having a really great time, they're setting what some might call some impossible goals this year. And if you're ever going to set an impossible goal, you should do it when it's the theme of magic.
And I think we're going to pull off the impossible. Yeah. The impossible goal of of raising a lot of money in one night. Yeah. raising a lot of money to support over 1,400 local kids here in central Indiana and helping them find a life-changing mentor. I think that's the coolest part.
I've had lots of guests on the show that have been involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana. And throughout every single one of those stories, they just talk about how one they go there like, you know, wanting to give back and be a volunteer and then it ends up changing their lives even more. like by being a big and helping, you know, being a volunteer mentor. They're like, "Oh, I they think they go in with the mindset, oh, I'm doing this to give back and end up getting even more in in return for it." Absolutely. I mean, you know, 10 years ago, you were a big Yeah.
