Standing nearly 40 feet tall, this quirky, oversized sculpture isn't just a roadside oddity—it's the glowing beacon of Warm Glow Candle Company, a beloved local business with a scent-sational story.
Lighting the Way Since 1995
Warm Glow Candle Company began in 1995 in the basement of founders Alan and Jackie Carberry, fueled by a simple yet passionate goal: to create a candle that smelled amazing, burned cleanly, and had personality. The result? Their signature “lumpy, bumpy” candle—a rustic, hand-dipped masterpiece unlike anything else on the market.
What started as a small home-based operation quickly grew thanks to loyal customers and word-of-mouth praise. By 2000, Warm Glow had acquired the Sweet Liberty Candle Company, and in 2001, they opened a massive 22,000-square-foot store off I-70 near Centerville, Indiana—right next to their now-famous candle landmark.
In 2023, ownership transitioned to Justin and Abby Burkhardt, who continue the company's tradition of quality and community engagement. How the Candles Are Made
Every Warm Glow candle is still handcrafted in Indiana using high-quality, American-made paraffin wax. Here's what makes their process special:
Pouring & Setting: Wax is poured into molds and left to set for up to 10 hours.
Hand-Dipping: Each candle is then hand-dipped in layers of scented wax to create that bumpy, textured finish.
Fragrance Variety: With over 60 scents available—from cozy vanilla to seasonal favorites—there’s a candle for every nose.
One-of-a-Kind Charm: No two candles are exactly alike, making each one a unique addition to any home.
Today, their facility produces up to 15,000 candles per day, a testament to the team’s craftsmanship and customer devotion.
