The Southeastern Indiana Veterans Museum was founded by 25th Infantry Division veteran PG Gentrup, who’s passionate about preserving the history of military veterans.

Before the museum opened, the building was home to the former Rising Sun 1916 Carnegie Library, which carried Gentrup’s military collections. When the county decided to take over the building, they kept Gentrup’s collections and turned the location into a historic attraction for all military veterans.

Located at 100 North High Street in Rising Sun, Indiana, this museum features a vast collection of veteran uniforms, documents, and military memorabilia. The museum also houses the office of the Ohio County Soil and Water Conservation District. And the best part? It’s free to visit! They’re open Monday, Thursday, and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and on all veteran holidays.

If you’re interested in helping expand their mission, monetary donations may be made and volunteer opportunities are available for those who want to make a hands-on impact.
