Making Waves on Hidden Lake: The Story of the Lake City Skiers

Warsaw, Indiana may be known as “Lake City,” but few realize just how literal that title becomes when the Lake City Skiers hit the water. Nestled on the shores of Hidden Lake, behind a tire shop just off U.S. 30, you’ll find Indiana’s only competitive water ski show team—and one of the most accomplished in the Midwest.

Founded in 1989, the Lake City Skiers have transformed from a small-town group of thrill-seekers into a nationally recognized show team with more than 160 members, including nearly 70 active skiers ranging in age from 6 to over 50. With themed shows, high-flying stunts, and heartwarming community spirit, the team has become a staple of summer in Kosciusko County and beyond.

A Nonprofit with a Purpose

The Lake City Skiers operate as a nonprofit, with a mission to promote family fun, water safety, and community entertainment. Its free shows throughout the summer blend athleticism with storytelling. Expect dramatic music, colorful costumes, and dazzling tricks like human pyramids, barefoot skiing, and high-flying jumps.

Every show ends with a meet-and-greet where fans can chat with the performers and get autographs. It’s entertainment that brings people together and often introduces new generations to the joy of skiing.

Champions of the Water

This isn’t just a local hobby team—they’ve made serious waves on the national stage.

  • 4-Time Division II National Champions: 2006, 2007, 2014, 2016

  • Consistent Top Finishers in the Central Region Tournament

  • Host Team for the first-ever Division I National Championships in Indiana

  • Recently named host of the 2027 IWWF World Water Ski Show Championship

Despite performing in a small lake, its reputation spans across the country, drawing invitations to major events and recognition from the top levels of USA Water Ski.

A Team for All Ages

One of the most inspiring aspects of the Lake City Skiers is the accessibility. Kids, teens, adults and even retirees can find a place on the team. They offer “Learn to Ski” clinics throughout the summer for just $20, covering boat fuel and insurance. No equipment? No problem – they’ll provide everything.

Want to join? Memberships start around $75/year, with discounted mid-season rates. Members also join USA Water Ski, gaining access to clinics, insurance, and more.

See It for Yourself

Home shows are held on Sunday and Tuesday evenings at 6:30 PM from Memorial Day through Labor Day, with its final show of the 2025 season set for Sunday, August 31. Grab a lawn chair, bring a snack, and get ready to cheer. Admission is free, and the thrills are guaranteed.

You can also catch the Skiers at Indiana Beach during special weekend performances.

The Lake City Skiers are more than just a show team—they’re a vibrant example of what happens when community, talent, and passion come together. Whether you’re a lifelong resident of Warsaw or just passing through, make time to catch a show. It’s a summer tradition you’ll never forget, and maybe even join.
