Fishers PD + Heatseeking drone = Badass cops moment
The police found him in a field after a 100 mph+ car chase led to a crash.
The following was provided as a press release from Fishers PD to share with you:
On Sunday, May 19, 2024, at approximately 10:20 p.m., Fishers Police Officers were involved in a vehicle pursuit, resulting in the arrest of Edgar Gomez-Guadarrama.
FPD officers received information from Hamilton County Dispatch that Madison County officers were looking for a suspect in an incident in Elwood. Officers were told the suspect also stole a firearm during this incident. A description of the vehicle and suspect was provided.
A Fishers police officer saw the suspect vehicle driving on State Road 37 and began to follow the vehicle. After running the license plate through dispatch, they confirmed the vehicle to be driven by the suspect in the Elwood case.
Officers initiated a traffic stop after the suspect vehicle ran a red light at 131st and Parkside Drive. Gomez-Guadarrama did not stop and continued to drive away at a high rate of speed, crossing into oncoming traffic and reaching speeds over 100 mph before crashing the vehicle at 126th and Parkside Drive.
After the crash, Gomez-Guadarrama fled on foot. FPD officers deployed a drone and obtained a heat signature in the field in which he ran. Gomez-Guadarrama eventually walked out of the field and was taken into custody without incident.
Gomez-Guadarrama showed signs of intoxication and submitted to a breath test.
Upon notifying Elwood Police that Gomez-Guadarrama had been arrested, it was learned the suspect had broken into the home of the victim in Elwood and strangled her in the presence of a child. The victim and child were able to escape the home and call police. Elwood Police indicate they are seeking a warrant for charges related to the incident in their jurisdiction.
