Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, wherever you are, however you may be listening. Thanks for tuning in to the Get Indiana Podcast Network. My name is Dominic Miranda and I've been covering sports for nearly a decade. Most of which right here in Indianapolis. This is the Get in Sports Podcast. We're going to be covering everything in the Hooser State, high school, college, pro, in the sports capital of the universe in the greatest state on planet Earth. Thanks so much for coming on this journey with us. Let's get into it. Welcome inside the Get Indiana podcast network. Get in sports with Don Miranda here. Nate Spangle joining us as always for our high school football recaps. Eight weeks through sectional draws happened and we do plan on doing a a big sectional situation. >> Sectional next week. Tune in on Tuesday. Sectional and unbeaten teams >> highlighting all the unbeaten teams in Indiana. >> Just to put a pin in for anyone who didn't listen to the full episode last week. One, I apologize. One of the members of this team, not named Dom, forgot to press record on the audio. So, audio quality is back this week. I'm checking again, >> but we were so excited that we just kept it going. >> We were so excited to bring you the latest and greatest. But if you remember, I proposed that there would be 14 unbeaten teams after the last week of the regular season. Correct. And Dom proposed 20 >> and there are currently 28 unbeaten teams. So, we only lost two last week. >> Huge for Dom. But there are We're going to get to it. >> This next week is a crazy regular season finale. So many conference championships on the line. So many unbeaten teams playing each other, ranked teams playing each other. It's going to be a long segment. Stick around for it because I I don't know if it's just because we're paying more attention this season, but I feel like Indiana high school football has been fantastic this year. Like >> absolutely all the way through. Great matchups. like we'll get to it, but Evansville Memorial and Floyd Central lived up to the billing. We were hyping that up all week. >> Uh, and that is a perfect segue. Uh, I'm not going to talk about the game yet, but I was down in Evansville for Fall Festival, which first off, >> again, I preached about it last week. You got to go. It is just electric. I had one of the best times. It's my one of my favorite festivals to visit. And I stumbled into on Thursday night for dinner. >> Okay. I stumbled in to a dieh hard memorial bar. >> It is called Casey's Dugout and it is all things memorial. >> Have they been listening to us hype up Memorial all season? >> They have loved it. Dude, I met Casey. Casey started this pizza joint like 2 years ago. And when I say it is a sports mecca, it is like the coolest. Oh my gosh. Hold on. Let me let me I'm going to put a picture up here for anyone that's watching. I'll make sure that we send it so it's shown. Well, I mean, unless you're under a rock, you know, Evans Memorial has an undefeated season going right now, and they've knocked out some really good teams. Modern Day, Wrights, Floyd Central. >> Look at this memorabilia. >> Look at this. Wait, let me see this. >> Just scroll through some pictures. That's me. And if you scroll one over, I met I met Casey. Dude, it's all Look at that. >> It's all memorabilia from local Evansville. Specifically, like memorial, too. >> No, that's just wearing the hat. The Casey Zagout hat. This place rocks. And there's so much memorabilia to highlight the hitman Don Mattingley. I'm talking contracts that he signed. I'm talking autograph stuff. The MLB legend, the OG hitman, he has become friends with the owner, Casey. And it this place just rocks. He went to Memorial. Okay. >> And so he's a Memorial guy. This Memorial Bar. They actually sent us >> some gifts. Dominic, this is for you and I. >> Dod Manningly is such a stud, >> dude. The original hitman. Uh, per Casey's >> Mr. Beef. >> They've got the Mr. Beef tea beef. Dude, just take a take a gander at some of this stuff. Dom, >> definitely. Uh, >> how about this one? I'm going to wear this. If Memorial makes the finals, state finals, I'm wearing this to the game. >> I love Don Maddingley. >> Iard Don Mattingley. Again, this is all at Casey's Dugout. More sports memorabilia than I've ever seen. Dom peep. This guy, the OG. >> Oh, look at this. >> Casey's dugout. >> Awesome. If you find yourself anywhere within a 45minute drive of Evansville, you've got to stop by Casey's Dugout. It is legit. The food is good. The vibes are just immaculate. It felt like I was walking into my hometown bar and I'd never been there before. >> Incredible. >> And if you're there, Evansville, local to southern Indiana. Have you ever had a ski? >> A little ski. >> Have you ever had ski? >> I've never had a ski, >> dude. It's a little soda pop. >> I'd like a little bruski. >> That you get a ski and some grippos. And that is like an Evansville classic. >> Is this a little soda pop? >> Ice gold soda pop. >> Okay. >> Yeah. So that's all our our Casey's Dugout Hall. It was immaculate vibes. We were watching Thursday Night Football there hanging out with the guys and I can just I cannot sing their praises enough. >> So it's focused on memorial. >> It's a memorial bar, so it has like a bunch of memorabilia from like they have the soccer coach pic basically anyone from Evansville who has made anything of himself is on the wall in there. >> That's awesome. >> It's electric. >> Evansville Memorial. What a great team to have a bar dedicated to them. >> Since 2008, they've been to one, two, three, four, >> five state championships in one, two. >> Yeah. >> Under John. >> Here's the thing. It wasn't even just football. They had stuff from baseball. They had stuff from the uh the if you remember the iconic soccer coach who's been there for like ever, the boys soccer coach. He's got a picture on the wall. It is just like the coolest spot. Uh, the freshman who didn't travel to Floyd Central, the freshman that didn't travel did a watch party. >> That's cool. >> At the dugout. >> That's really cool, >> dude. I I cannot There there were people out back. I was there on a Thursday night. People coming like maybe a middle school >> volleyball or basketball team or something. They were out back playing Knockout. >> Love that, >> dude. Just like an iconic neighborhood. >> That is uh that's good vibes. I'm happy you uh went there and give us the report. Thank you for the the gear and the great experience for Nate Spangle. >> Casey's Dugout, baby. >> All right. Glad we gotten to that. But let's go to some headlines this week of week eight of Indiana high school football spang. This a lot of this caught my attention here. >> So Dom, we have to say there still remains 28 unbeaten teams. >> Yep. >> And the widest margin of victory was Winchester getting it done over Cambridge City Lincoln 66 nothing. >> So I did see another I did see another account on Instagram start picking up the biggest uh blowouts. made a whole graphic of it and I just say shout out like we're all about uh we're all about rewarding points. Scoring points in football is fun. >> Winning by a lot is fun. >> There is another very large headline that would bring us to right or wrong. >> Right or wrong. >> And we split it 50/50 this week. >> Budright Larry Budright wins game number 466 >> as Southwood beat Wicko 28 to8. 466 wins. And on the other side of that, we can talk about it a little bit later in the 6A report, but Kevin Wright was on the wrong side. >> Yes, he was on the wrong side. >> So, Caramel Falls to Warren Central. So, another week. I do not believe this season we have gotten a >> double >> a double right. >> I don't think so. >> We split right and wrong all season long. >> I'd have to uh do some digging there, but it doesn't seem >> I don't believe that we've had a two and0 out of the right right and suns or >> right and sun. >> Yeah, right and sun. But you know what? Bud Wright just padding his wins record right now in the state of Indiana. I mean, it can't be close. >> 466 is so many. Maybe he's he's not stopping till 500. >> Dude, that would be like how many more >> might take a while, but I he he doesn't seem like he's slowing down at all. So, we love that for Bud Wright. Congratulations. Caramel again, another ranked loss. You know, what can you say? The Mick is brutal and they've had a lot of really good competition. All their losses coming against ranked teams. This one probably the most lopsided. I believe their quarterback Jackson Treadway did leave that game while I was still there. Backup Chris Harris did do very well. They were up 14-7 at one point in that game. We'll get to it a little bit later. But uh yes, Kevin Wright Larry Budright W. Elsewhere I would like to talk about Mr. Spangle and this will also be in our matchups or scores that stuck out, but Bluffton beat Adam Central for the first time in 17 18 years. They had previously lost 17 straight to Adam Central. So, we'll go over that again. >> Dude, the Tigers are rolling and they're legit. >> And we're going to get into Bluton a little more heavily for sure a little bit later on. Planefield and Whitland was 28-7. Whitland went for two after scoring to make it 28-27 and did not get it. So, Planefield big- time win. They're top 10 in class 5A. >> Yeah, we said they wouldn't go out peacefully. >> No, >> they might be the Quakers, but they got a little bit of fight in them. >> It was a really good game, so that's good stuff. And then a couple of upsets. Culver over North Miami and Hammond Morton 41 nothing over Hobart. >> What's going on with the Brickies? >> I don't know. >> Good win. I believe they are the governors of Hammond Morton. >> The governness. But yeah, it was kind of surprising. >> The governors get it done over the brickies. Dom, I want to know as you dove into the scores. What stuck out to you this? >> Okay. Scores that stuck out to me in week eight of Indiana high school football. There's a lot. Grab some popcorn. Enjoy yourself. All right. Number one, I was at this game and just talked about it a little bit, but second ranked in 6A, Warren Central beats ninth ranked Carmel 4228. Okay, Warren Central is playing their best ball of the season. Anthony Dennison and Zachariah Wallace, great connection quarterback, wide receiver, but Keon Thomas is unbelievable. The running back going to Iowa. He trucks people, gets a heavy workload. I think he's even battling some nicks and bruises, but just absolutely running over everybody. >> Here's the thing, Dom. >> It's unreal. I uh I learned it early on when you get to week eight. >> Yeah. >> Everybody's got something. >> Everybody's hurt. >> Everybody's got something. A bump, a bruise, like you know, no one is coming out here feeling 100% fresh every week. Like you've played eight grueling weeks of high school football. Yes. >> Everybody's got something. >> Let me tell you, we said on this program, Brandon Sharp, runaway Mr. Indiana football, and he's for sure in the conversation. But Keon Thomas, running back of Warren Central, Zay Moore, running back of Lawrence North, have compiled an unbelievable four or five week stretch in a row here that they have firmly put themselves in the Mr. Indiana football conversation. I think it's those three. Keon Thomas, Semore, Brandon Sharp, and maybe I'm forgetting some crazy stats around the state, but those three been able to watch them all three in person. Unbelievable. Keon Thomas, stud and we'll have some of Moore stats a little bit later on for Lawrence North. But Warren Central beats Carmel. Warren Central wins the Mick outright. And if they win next week, which I suspect they will, that'll be a perfect regular season, which is really impressive in the Mick Conference. Elsewhere in the Mick, 6A eighth ranked Lawrence North beats Center Grove 28-20 at home. Now, Trojans without star QB Oscar Sloan. And I was told on the sideline that was not just a this game thing. I don't know if that's accurate or not. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but tough to win without your QB who's going to uh Purdue, I believe. So, but Lawrence North is playing their best ball of the season in my opinion. St. Moore is unreal. Minion sales did not play again. So, not sure what's going on there. But Lawrence North is six and two. Only two losses to Brownsburg and Lawrence or Warren Central, excuse me. Top two teams in the state in 6A. I mean, what are you going to do when all the other games you play? >> I feel like I'm going to do I'm going to do some reconnaissance and figure out if Montan's going to play in the postseason. >> Yeah, I need to know cuz it's been a it's been a multi-week absence. Now they they're playing great. Zay Moore and Darren Prather are just and Amari Moore, too. They're they're they're studs. They're so good. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I'm going to put out some feelers and I'm going to figure out what's going on with the I mean, the number one wide receiver in the country and figure out correct if we're going to get to see him, you know, dawn the Lawrence North. >> I would like to see him >> Wildcat uniform and play through the postseason. >> I don't know exactly what's going on. So, you know, hope he gets better if it's >> if he's whatever it is. I just want to I mean, we just want to see him play. >> We just want to see the guy play. >> Absolutely. Okay. So Warsaw jumped up via the USA poll to number one in class 5A. >> Wait, >> in the USA poll, but that's because New lost to IMG. IMG came to town and just now into the second quarter, I believe it was 77. >> Didn't they get a pick right on the goal line, too? Like >> Newal was hanging around. IMG was kind of beating themselves and then IMG is going to do what IMG does. I mean, the quarterback's going to Georgia. They got a DN going to Notre Dame. They got dudes going to Bama. I mean, we were there for our pregame live shots and those dudes, if I was in high school and those dudes came out, I would be terrified. Terrified. The alignment are huge. They're barking at them. They're saying some crazy stuff, dude. No way. >> Oh, yeah. We'll we'll talk about it later. It was It was just like, >> these guys are different and just football is life, which you know what? That's why IMMG is IMG. But New Pal, kudos for scheduling the game, and they were into that game. Like, Newal, they've lost three times, but they're they're going to be a force, >> dude. They actually say like kudos for real. Like >> seriously, there's no >> you don't have to take that game. >> I looked at IMG schedule. New PAL is the only public high school on it and they came to Indiana. Yeah. >> That's pretty cool. >> That's one of those ones where it's like if you were on the road, you're like get you're going home with a check. You know, like if New flies down there, it's like all expenses paid, right? >> You know, you're walking out with funding your athletic program for a year if uh if you go down there and play that game. But anyway, in the NLC up north, Warsaw ranked number one in 5A, beats Concord 3929, excuse me, 37-29. But this is setting up for a massive matchup this next week against 4A 7th ranked Northridge, who's also undefeated. Battle of Unbeatens. Whoever wins wins the NLC. That's going to be Wow, dude. >> That'd be musty. I mean, that's a game I would consider going to. No doubt about it. And then we talked about this one, Spank. Evansville Memorial top ranked in 3A having an unbelievable season. Beatating team ranked team after ranked team beats 5A number three Floyd Central. Best game in the state I would say, >> dude. Okay, so I want to say I was in on uh following the stream on this. I want to give I sent that text in. There was uh one >> What a game. >> What a game. >> Okay, so Floyd again 3428 your final score. Floyd Central was up 21 nothing. >> Yes. per sources. And Evansville Memorial comes back and outscores them 34 to7 the rest of the way and wins by six. That's the Highlanders first loss on the season. Evansville Memorial is looking for their first state title since 2019. It would be John Hurley's third. They got 5A 11th ranked Castle this week. But how about Memorial? >> Well, let me let me talk about it. So, the game started out all Highlanders. Uh shout out to our guy. I was following along the tweets from Patrick Murphy. Uh Patrick Murphy is a Jeffersonville guy. He's a media down there in Jeffersonville. And it starts off with a QB sneak to the right side and uh Floyd Central leads 70 with 8/19 left in the first quarter. Then it was another Highlanders, Luke Jacobe. That name sound familiar? We've talked about how Luke We've talked about >> Luke Jacobe plays ball. He's like oh not very tall if I remember right. He ends up putting down a 66-yd touchdown rush after uh Evansville went three and out. That made the game 14- nothing with 619 left in the first quarter. >> Wow. >> Then talk about getting hit in the mouth. >> End of first quarter, it's 14- nothing. The Tigers had some momentum. Again, this is all thanks to Patrick Murphy, but they fumbled around Floyd's 20 yardd line. And then another touchdown. Luke Jacobe, second rushing touchdown of the night. 47 yards out. >> So he's already over 100. They're up 21 nothing with 1146 left in the second quarter. >> Wow. >> And after that, uh, Luke Brown to Drew Ellis, 29 yardd touchdown. That puts it to 217. Uh, Luke Brown with a second passing touchdown to Drew Ellis again. That puts it to 214. And I believe there was a field goal. Shout out to Liam Reagan. He had a 23 y going into halftime. 217. So like again, momentum is so important. You go from up 21 nothing >> to then a 17point run halftime whole thing. Evansville Memorial scores and that then they take the lead for the first time 24-21 and John Hurley is a coach at uh Memorial and apparently this is from my time at Casey's Dugout. >> Okay. >> Man's a halftime wizard. >> Halftime wizard. halftime wizard. He gets in his bag and it is basically all not all Evansville but they just like swung the momentum back in their favor and end up oh going up 2721 end of the third then there was a pick six puts them up 34-21 I believe the Highlanders score and I think think final score ends up >> 34-28 >> 3428 so second half Wizard comes out again >> Evansville Memorial in backtoback weeks has beat Evansville rights and Floyd Central. >> And uh let's just impressive. >> So I spent time on both sides of Evansville. So Memorial is east side. >> Got it. >> Rights is west side. >> Got it. >> And so if you're on the west side, people were a little upset about the the 30 to 27 loss. >> It was a close game. Really good game. >> And then if you're on the east side, people were were hyped up. Uh I was there Thursday. The team was headed out the next day and there were a lot of people making the trip, a lot of people watching the stream. >> Bang. I need Evansville to make their way up through the 3A state tournament so I can get eyes on them. I got to have eyes on them before state. Okay. Really good stuff. And they got Castle next week. So that's ending the year with three straight ranked opponents. >> And Castle, what rank are they? >> 11th in 5A. >> They're 11th. And that's Newberg. And I would say Newberg is considered like the caramel of Evansville. >> Of Evansville. It's like there's a lot of growth happening there. and they're like I mean they're in War County but it's kind of like a uh what do they call a suburb let's say of Evansville Castle people New Hubber people are probably going to be upset about that >> going to be like what is >> I apologize but there's a they think this is going to be a good game >> I want to talk about Cathedral okay that Ben Davis loss is kind of confusing looking back but they've beat Cincinnati St. X. They've beat Chitaard. Okay. And then this week they host Covington Catholic out of Kentucky. Brett Deetsz's alma mater. >> If anyone doesn't know, Brett Deetsz is the uh coach of the Depont Tigers. Go back and check >> the head coach. >> Uh the episode with with Coach Deeds. It was electric. >> Yeah, it really was good. And uh but 2820 like Cathedral again, Cathedral and Newal have it figured out. Tough regular season schedule. Does not matter the amount of losses and then >> we're going to find out if they have it figured out. >> They're in the same sectional. That's what that's what sucked so much last year is that New Pal I I hate to say this, but like state championships that sectional, New Pal beats Cathedral runs the table. I don't know if that's the case this year. I do not know, but they're going to meet up in the sectional championship barring anything crazy happening. And I can't wait for the sectional show next week, Spangle, because there are some like South Putnham plays Cascade first game. So, we got the defending 3A champ, defending 1A champ. >> I mean, this is like a story book that we wrote. We've been talking about that since week one >> and they first game >> the returning 3A champion lost enough students that they got moved down because of enrollment >> and the returning 1A champions got bumped up >> for success >> and now they are because Indiana does this blind draw >> with uh unseated sectionals >> and now you're going to have a first round >> like that deserves to be like a semi-state game and it's going to be section open. Dom, you have a great saying about uh >> if ifs and buts were candy nuts, we'd all have a merry Christmas. >> You got to beat someone. >> Someone on the west side of uh of central Indiana is not going to be having a very merry Christmas. No, >> cuz they're going to be watching from home as the uh the opponent goes on a little run there. >> All right, so Cathedral beats Covenant Catholic. Thought that was a really impressive win. Pendleton Heights beats Yorktown. How about the Arabians 7 and one? >> So really good. >> I will say what a tribute. I kind of watched some of some of the videos. What a tribute. So, it's an away game. They're playing at Pendleton Heights. Pendleton Heights hats off. Like, take the football game out of it. Like, >> the way that they uh honored Chris Wilson Jr. >> Um it was just like the honestly watching the videos it was like >> Yeah, >> it was moving. >> No, first class by Pendleton Heights and it was a very good football game. Both teams very, very good. >> I will say we had a few things saying that um about the player of the week and like go back and listen. We did a tribute a whole piece on Chris Chris Wilson at the beginning of the episode last week >> talking about how he had over a dozen division one offers a future mountaineer of West Virginia like >> uh just an incredible like as we dove in and read some of the the stats and read some of the stories. It was it was awesome >> and by and by all accounts a very good teammate young man um obviously very very tough situation and uh Yorktown that community certainly rallying together and uh that's why we love sports. But moving along here in scores that stuck out up in Fort Wayne. Third ranked Dwanganger in 4A beats 5A 9th ranked Fort Wayne Snyder 28-4. Dwanganger having a very nice season. I I was thinking about this on the drive-in. I believe that there is a case to be made that 4A is better than 5A just as a whole. The the like 4A is ridiculously deep. We're talking East Central, Chitaard, Fort Wayne Dwinganger, East Noble, Ronie, Southbend, St. Joe unbeaten, Northridge unbeaten, Danville unbeaten, Evansville writes, Logansport, and then if you look at 5A to me, Warsaw, Bloomington South, Floyd Central, Newal, Cathedral, that's the end of list for legitimate state contenders in my humble opinion. >> Wait, so so Cathedral, New, >> Floyd Central, Bloomington South, and Warsaw. >> So that five. >> Yes. And in 4A, I'm talking like East Central, Chitaur, Dwanganger, East Noble, Ronali, Southbend, St. Joe, Northridge. >> Hey, you you know who you're forgetting? >> Danville. >> You're forgetting Danville. No, no. I said it in my open there. Danville and Evansville writes, like all those teams to me can make can make a run. >> Log the Berries >> and Loganport. I we're going to talk about them in depth a little bit later. So like >> I mean that's like your what I mean. Is that a fair team? >> I think that's a fair nothing against I'm just saying as a whole and I think 4A is deeper. That's what I that's what I feel. >> Do we have any Yeah, we have East Central with a headto-head over New Bal. We have Chitaard losing on a field goal to Cathedral. Like I don't know, man. like and Dwangers beat some 5A teams uh during their schedule. Obviously, Fort Wayne very deep. They they just beat Snder who's in 5A. You see what I mean? >> I think it's worth consideration. >> It does. I would wonder like I'd like to see a Super Champ where the winner of 5A plays the winner of 4A. >> Like I think that 3A, 4A, 5A, 6A could legitimately do a 14 playoff state supremacy. >> Oh, cuz 3A you could have Memorial >> and then 1A, 2A play each other for like small school champ. How cool would that be? >> Imagine this. Imagine this. >> That would be I think I just that stumbled onto something. >> Okay. Well, I think Brownsburg probably would be the favorite still. >> But if you had this, I want to give you a h a hypothetical here, Don. >> Memorial runs the table and is your 3A champion. Okay. >> Writes, let's say they beat East Central. Let's say if Wrights beat East Central, I know it won't be, but if it was for the state championship, >> right? Hypothetical. >> Hypothetical here. If Wrights beat East Central for the state championship and then Newal beat Cathedral >> in sectional >> and then ended up winning the state championship there, you would have, have you ever seen that like head-to-head matchup thing? You would have Memorial with a head-to-head over Rights. Rights would have a head-to-head over East Central. East Central would have a head-to-head over New Cathedral, which by association would say the transitive property would say Evansville Memorial could have won 5A. I feel like put that in a clip in the Zack Galanakis or the No, it's always sunny Pepe Silvia Pepe Silvia. >> That's uh that's quite a hypothetical. >> Do you see that though? >> I I see what you're saying. >> By math. So then what you would need >> it's just simple math. >> You would need Does Cathedral play anybody in 6A? >> Sure. Nobody schedules Cathedral >> cuz I'm trying to find a way >> I mean Cathedral lost to Ben Davis >> first game of the year. >> Yeah. See that that takes us out of there cuz I'm I'm like trying to find a way that if Brownsburg were to lose then Memorial would be your outright champion out >> but I'm by the transit of property you can you can follow it along all the way there to see how Memorial could be the best 3 4 and 5A team. >> I look all I'm saying is >> and if if so I'm watching that game but Casey's done it. >> So why can't like 6A plays 3A first round 4A plays 5A first round. >> You know what Dom we'll just play football all year round. >> That's what I'm saying. will just never stop playing football. >> Thanksgiving is too early of end. I need more for high school football. Okay, I want to talk about this team. 3A 10th ranked Bluffton remains unbeaten and beats 3A 9th ranked Adam Central 3628. They had lost 17 straight to Adam Central. Bluffton gets it done. It's one of Brent Con's best seasons in his 10 years at the school. They're averaging 42 points per game. They're only giving up nine points per game. Bluffton. And we got a nice little direct message from a Bluffton alum. Got to give a shout out to Bluffton. That's what we're doing right now. You We love it. Not only is this Coach Brent Con's first win against AC since my senior year when we beat them in fall 2009, but this is our first ACAC championship since 1989. >> Go Tigers. >> All right. I want to just give you the backstory here because I thought it would be pretty lopsided. So this is let's say the last five. So last year for Bluffton loses to Adam Central 4717. >> Yeah. Year before loses to Adam Central 4924. Year before loses to Adam Central 24 nothing. The year before that 56 to8. >> So this is a huge >> year before that 56 nothing. Dom the year before that not on the schedule. >> Oh that's 2020 you know >> right? That that is a huge 337. >> That is a huge win. >> It's not like these have been close games in recent history. This is like a monumental underdog story. And I'm in I'm in on the bluff and Tigers. Correct me if I'm wrong, but South Adams beat Adam Central and now Bluffton beats Adam Central. So, how about that? Tigers trailed 14-7 in the second quarter, but they responded with 22 unanswered points. So, how about that? Ethan Riich with two touchdown passes as a backup. >> Dude, not only did he have two touchdown passes, keep reading on that. >> And that doesn't even include the perfect four for four in Pats and getting a crucial two-point conversion. >> Dude, the utility man. What is it? Riich. >> Riich. Riick. >> I'm going with Riich. It's fun to say. >> Let us know if it's Rivick or Riich, but hey, shout out to that guy. >> Cooper Craig, who ran for nearly 200 yards unofficially and two touchdowns, including the eventual game winner. Clap it up for Bluffton. Good stuff for the Tigers. They are 8-0 and they have who to finish a perfect regular season. When was the last time that they have G they have excuse me, Fort Wayne Blackhawk to end for Brent Conungle's bunch. Um, looks to me that they've never run the table in the regular season, Spang. So, that's really >> Can you see that? >> I can see that. Just my my uh common sense tells me looking at the records here because if you lose two games, that means you lost one in the regular season. You see what I'm saying? So, >> so I But you can Wait, what? >> So, I'm looking at Brent Conungle's record. >> He has two sectional titles, 2022 and 2023. Hasn't won since 2023. I uh I did look this up. Bluffton is in Adam Central's sectional, so we could have a potential rematch. >> Tough to beat a team twice. >> It is tough to beat a team twice. No question about it. >> Yeah, I'm going all the way back. >> And they are on opposite sides of the bracket. They are on opposite sides of the bracket. Adam Central and Bluffton. So, >> dude, I will say even this, Dom, >> say it. Say it. >> We're on uh John Harold, great website. Go. >> I don't know what we'd do without him, >> dude. Going back to 94. I mean, not only is this an uncommon, undefeated season, like here we go. I'm going to start in ' 94. They start in '94 they go 6 and five. Then they proceed 1 2 3. Okay. In '98 they go 5 and five. Losing record. L 1 and nine. One and nine. Two and nine. 2003 6 and five. Four and eight. One and nine. 2 and 8. 2 and 8. One and nine. One and nine. Four and seven. Three and seven. Five and five. Like this is I'm into 2012 and we're like we're not even remotely close to uh a winning record. So >> sounds to me that >> this is like a generational team. >> Yeah. Brent Conungle and he's 72 and 36 in 10 years at the school. So since he's showed up >> uh I got one >> winning ways. >> So 2018 Brent Conungle they go 7-5 they go seven and three then they 2020 they're 8 and2 then they go four- six then the last few years they have been turning it. They were 8 and5, 10 and three, 6 and four, and then 9 and2 last year. >> And now 8 and0. >> So like I mean one you're talking about I'd like Coach Conungle clapping up for that guy. >> Yeah, Coach Conungle is doing some stellar stuff. >> Yes sir. >> That's good stuff. And that's Bluffton talk. Congratulations to Bluffton. Uh Hamilton Heights beats 3A top 15 team Twin Lakes 61-28. Hamilton Heights lost their first three games of the year and have rattled off five straight >> under new head coach Caleb Small. Yeah, if I remember right, Twin Lakes, oh my gosh, they've been in the mix. Uh Twin Lakes won, >> they're ranked still. They're hanging on. They lost to West Lafayette, remember? And then they beat Tipton 7156 last week and then lost to Hamilton Heights 6128. And they finished their season with Loganport. >> Oh, that's a good little matchup. >> And yeah, I'm so happy you brought up Loganport. Just kidding. I did. Loganport is ranked 10th in class 4A. They're 8-0. Troy Hudson in his second year at the school. He's 16 and4 in two years. They are undefeated. >> Wait, Dom, would all four of those losses have come last year because >> that is correct because they're eight and0. >> Yeah. And so we've got the 8-0. Can you name their mascot? >> Well, I'm looking at it. It's the Berries. >> Yeah. Can you name uh it was actually the first uh like cartoon mascot with Felix the Cat? >> How about that? >> The Loganport Berries. >> Logan'sport is in Yorktown sectional. Okay. So, they have as good a chance as any to to win sectional this season. And I think a Yorktown Loganport matchup would be very very good. But Loganport ends with Twin Lakes to cap off an undefeated season. They're outscoring folks 44 to9. Got some DMs about the berries. >> I will say >> Coach Hudson, keep up the good work. >> I will say I think that uh the media is not giving Loganport their fair share. >> They they don't Well, look, remember 4A is very deep. So you're 8 and0. They're looking at the schedule and they're like, "Look, Northridge and South Ben St. Joe and Ronie and East Noble. Okay. Danger, Chitaard, East Central. They're more tested. >> We've got five and three Leo kind of getting votes down there in the 12 spot. Yeah. >> And we don't have the Okay, we have them at 10. >> Yeah, we got them at 10. >> I mean, they're undefeated. >> They're undefeated. Like Danville, you could argue Danville not getting enough love. Northridge is really good. I mean, Northridge beat Northwood 457 this last week. >> And that's the alumni report. >> Yeah. Um, but anyway, that's that's a long version of scores that stuck out. Let's move into a couple new segments that we have this week. >> I want to get the pulse. >> You want to get the pulse? >> I'd love the pulse. >> So, we have a new segment called the pulse. It's because there are three hearts spread throughout the state of Indiana. >> H A R T. >> H A R T. We've got the pulse. Three hearts. We've got the head coach of Brownsburg. We've got the head coach of Gibson Southern. And we have a new brother that we found out >> new to us. We discovered this. >> Shout out to the person in our DMs. We have the head coach of Jasper, the pulse. So, we get a little bit of uh a little bit of a pulse check on the hearts. >> In case you needed reminding, John Hart is in the middle of an unbelievable run at Brownsburg. He's 104 and 19 in 11 years at the helm. He's 371 and 100 in 42 years overall coaching high school football. He's won a state title at Evansville writes in 2007, won a state title at Warren Central in 2009, and he is in the midst of going for a three repeat in 6A with Brownsburg winning the state title in 2024 2025 and unbeaten and looking crazy here in 2026. So that's the patriarch. Okay. Then we have his son at Gibson Southern who's ranked third in class 3A. Nick Hart who's 152 and 30 at 15 years at Gibson Southern. Won a state championship in 2021 has been to the semi-state five times as well. Gibson Southern is 7-1. Their only lost to Floyd Central by seven. So you got Nick Hart and then new to us as we mentioned Derek Hart who is at Jasper. His second year at the school. The Wildcats are 5-3 coming off a win over Evansville North this past week, 27-24. He's 14-6 in his second year at Jasper after going 9 and three last year. So, you add all that up, that's a lot of wins, Spang, for the Hart family. >> That is a heck of a pulse there. That that beat is like going >> Hart family football tree. This is a comment we got it looks like on Facebook for Hart family football tree. Keep an eye on Derek Hart at Jasper. So, thank you uh Linda Adams 2376 for letting us know. If my memory is correct, all three heart men were coaching in state championships in the same year with Derek coaching in Kinki, Illinois at the time. So, that would have been >> So, here we go. Yes. In 2021, did Brownsburg go to state? >> No. Incorrect. They did not. They won sectional though. >> Oh, they were so close. I think they're a year apart. So that year, so Gibson Southern with Nick Hart, they capture the program's first ever 3AL or class 3A state championship >> 2021. >> In 2021, then Kangi High School over in Illinois. They got uh state runner up to Fenwick High School in 2021 and and uh >> Brownsburg won Derek Hart was on that team, but then Brownsburg didn't make it. So there was the potential so close to three hearts in a state finals. Well, I think that John Hart and Nick Hart could be playing in the state championship this year. There's no doubt about that. Gibson Southern 3A. >> And then we just need Jasper to go on a little run here. >> Yeah. Or wait, >> could we get a heart on heart appearance? >> No. Jasper's 4A. >> Okay. >> 4A is tough. Okay. But >> hey, chip in a chance. >> Chip a chance. >> If we had a potential Okay, Dom, if all three hearts were in a state finals, would you go dressed as >> a heart? We I could be the ventricle and you could be the aorta. >> Okay. Okay. And we'd go as two halves of a heart >> and we can sponsor that. Uh the American Heart Association. >> Yeah. Are you an organ? >> Seriously, >> come on now. >> There's something there. I think I would settle for John Hart and Nick Hart, we can do something. Remember? No, no, no. We said this and this was in the poor audio episode, so you might have missed it. But if John Hart and Nick Hart both win state titles, Spangle and I are taking them to St. Elmo's. >> Yeah. Thanksgiving dinner at St. Elmo. >> That's happening. >> Come on. >> I don't know if the Harts would be on board or Mrs. Hart primarily probably would not be on. All the Mrs. Harts not on board. And if Jasper makes a run too, like we could bring the whole heart, the whole heart family. >> I think that'd be great. >> I mean, we'll have both. >> There is a distinct possibility that >> a bowl of Cheerios, too. Isn't that good for your heart? >> Yeah. Lowers cholesterol. >> Yeah, I remember those episode or those commercials back in the day. >> Anyway, I think this would be a good time to tell us about Ascend Football. >> Yeah. Quick pause in the action to tell you about our friends over at Ascend Football. They're an Indiana based football agency built on long-term personal relationships. They partner with athletes and families as they navigate the opportunities, challenges, and critical decisions that shape football careers and lives beyond the game. If you are a player or a parent that is curious about the business of taking your game to the next level, check them out at ascendb.com or on Instagram at ascend_fb. >> Wonderful. >> They will take good care of you. Uh Dwan, Randy, again, appreciate those guys. They also sponsor the high school football player of the week that you're going to be hearing about a little bit later. So, >> correct. >> Thank you to our friends over at Send. >> All right. Kudos to Nate Spangle for coming up with this. Uh we're going to split up 1A through 3A and 4 A through 6A. small ball central and a big baller segment. So, let's talk small ball central. What stuck out to you here, Spang? >> Oh, the game was a lot closer than I thought it was going to be, Dom. >> The game was a lot closer as 1A number three North Judson and the casting comments are in a 214 battle that was extremely runheavy. >> Okay, North Judson ranked third in class 1A. Casten 6 and2 only losses to Pioneer and North Judson who we know are two top three teams in class 1A. So the Comets very much a competitive group this season. >> Yeah, man. Uh that was a lot closer than I thought it was going to be honestly. And that's like no disrespect to Casten, nothing like that. I just felt like seeing we were using the transitive property. We had the what was it? Casten and Pioneer and Knox were kind of like using those games. >> Yep. Casten lost the Pioneer 357, lost to North Judson just by seven. So transit of Property tells me Pioneer Pioneer could be >> Hold on, man. Hold the phone. >> Hold the phone. >> Holding the phone. Shout out to Chuck Freebie, a legend. The Blue Jays scored 14 in the fourth to avoid the upset. >> Whoa. Okay, so North Judson Pioneer. I'm giving the slight edge to Pioneer learning this information. >> What their conference championships this weekend this Friday. >> So that is for this. We'll get to that in >> Yeah. Yeah, we'll get there. But that is insane. I wish I could see I'm going to go to casting athletics and see if we can >> Adam Barry and Brett Lambert just absolutely crushed it. >> Oh my Hold on. Hold on. We have a highlight to watch. Dom, I repeat, we have a highlight to watch courtesy of our friends at Casten Athletics. You've got to watch this. Caught a clip of the hard-nosed toughness that was on display all night last night. Look at them fighting for every inch on this play. >> Oh yeah, >> that's cast. >> Oh yeah, >> dude. Look at this guy. Who is that? What's his number? >> 45. Is that for Casten? >> 45 for Casten with the spin moves. >> We're positive white and red was cast. >> Oh, dude. Come on. I never forget the comments. Do you not remember? Come on, dude. Insane. >> All right. Number 45 for Casten is none other than Tucker Woliver. Tucker Woliver, 5'11 200. >> Dude, running back. >> It was an insane game between Casten and North Judson. So, the final score ends up being 2114 North Judson. But uh I'm on on the cast and athletics tweet which or uh Twitter which shout out they like live tweeted the game. Incredible. The comet strike first. Boyer from eight yards out the P is good. 7 and0 and Caston was on the road. This is insane. >> So 14 points in the fourth quarter. >> Hold on. Listen to this. So this was the next tweet. Been a long time since the Blue Jays have been in a dog fight with the Comets, but that's exactly the story. Two huge goal line stands by the cast and defense in the half to keep the Jays off the board. It's 70 at the break. Comets will receive after the half. After a three-andout, the Blue Jays marched about 65 yards to not the contest at seven with exactly 7 minutes left in the third. Then a 2-yard keeper. Comets go up 14 to7. Then and then it was 14 to7 and then they scored 14 in the uh in the fourth quarter to go up 214. Dude, so close. You had a Tiger by the tail. Well, you had a Blue Jay by the tail. >> Uh, okay. So, Casten, well done. Good effort. North Judson 14 unanswered to win it in the fourth. That's uh >> Dude, that's a one I like that game for North Judson having a little bit of adversity. They've kind of like >> coasted. >> They've kind of like ran through everybody on the way here. So, good for them. >> So, we'll see if that pays off against Pioneer this week. >> Uh I want to see one more. I'm going to look. Are they in the same Oh, dang. So, Casten is Frisky, but they are also in Pioneers. >> Yeah, that's what it was. They're in their sectional and they had a tough loss to them earlier this year, but you just got to win when it counts. So, we'll see. Keep your eyes on the casting comments. >> Big number 45. What was his name? >> Tucker Woliver. >> Tucker. Big Tuck. >> 5'11 200. >> He looks all of it. 45 >> junior running back. >> Yeah, buddy. >> All right. What else? Small ball central Spang. Uh, South Putham just continues their unbelievable season. 64 nothing over Owen Valley. I don't think their varsity played the second half. Someone someone let us know. I want to know how many halves of football that the South Putnham starters have played. >> South Putinham is outscoring folks 55 and a half to five on average. >> They're not even allowing a full touchdown per game. And that's without playing the starters in the second half. >> Now Cascad's having a great season, too. >> Is that who they round out the season with? >> No, that's who they played in the first round of second. >> Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Who does who does South have? >> South has Cloverdale to round them out. Cloverdale 6-2 with losses to North Davies and North Putnham. >> So, uh, and South Putnham beat North Putnham 56 to 14. So, if we're keeping with our transitive properties, >> South Putt, I I'm excited. I'm excited to watch you guys in person. It's going to be great. Can you go back to back 1A 2A? I'm going to ask uh Greg Rick Straw this week about the when's the last time someone won a state championship, got bumped up, won another one. I have to believe it was probably like New Pal or Cathedral Start or something, but >> dude, how sick would it be if somehow they get bumped up again and win 3A? Wouldn't that be a story? But without Mauy Shields, I don't know, man. That guy's a freak. >> Okay, what do you got here? I You added a little something. >> Uh, we've got a cool little game here. So, as everyone that is an avid listener to the program should know, um, Dom and I are proud Depa alumni. >> Yeah. And one of the most sacred special traditions in all of college football is the Mona Bell game against Depal and Waw Bash. And there was a little high school bell game this week as Crawford'sville took on the Tiger Cubs of Green Castle. And uh our Tiger Cubs got it done 4436. Give the nod to Green Castle maybe. >> Okay. So Depal will win the bell game. >> I think that that is uh is it kind of like if the groundhog sees a shadow? >> Yeah, kind of like that. Yeah, something like that, right? So, shout out to the Tiger Cubs. Uh, getting right, getting the job done over Crawford'sville. If that is any foreshadowing of what we're going to see in Muny, call me excited. 4436 would be a football game. Has a nice ring to it. Anyway, Evansville Memorial and Floyd Central in 3A top ranked Memorial, 5A, third ranked Floyd Central. We've talked about it at Nosium, but listen to these stats. Listen to these stats. I want to hear them. Luke Brown for Evansville Memorial quarterback 21 of 32, 396 yards, two Tutties. DeAndre Fellows, who is a good fellow that he was probably throwing to all night. Eight receptions, 108 yards. Luke Jacobe, remember that name? >> That's Floyd. >> Floyd Central's running back, 25 carries, 202 yards, two touchdowns. And Jackson Stone for Floyd Central, 19 carries, 154 yards, two touchdowns. Floyd Central as a team had 374 rushing yards and four touchdowns. >> Holy smokes. What a game. What a game. >> I had I needed to give a shout out. I met a junior from Memorial's team. He was getting pizza with his family on uh Thursday. Mick Blake, >> the listener of the program. >> Oh, he's a listener. Number 18 for Memorial. They get the job done. He uh he's just a junior, but uh he was there. Enjoy. Again, I'm telling you, you're going to see everybody. >> I need to go to Evansville, >> dude. You got to go to Evansville. I met Mick Blake who is the grandson of Mike Blake who is a legendary local sports caster/weatherman who spent over 40 years in the Evansville market. >> Mike Blake here. You're going to have a cold front coming in here all the time. >> Dude, this guy is legit. So, Dude, when I tell Hold on. Mike Blake weatherman. >> No, he's a sports captain. I met him and I could have talked to him for >> You met Mike Blake? >> Yeah. He was getting pizza with Mick Blake, >> his grandson. >> His grandson. Oh, we all know Mick Blake, >> dude. I'm pretty sure. So, he is a Hall of Famer. >> Okay, so he graduated from Iowa in 1968. He entered the US Army. Thank you for your service, sir. Served two years, including the final 11 months on the Armed Forces Vietnam Network. In September of 1970, he began his remarkable career in the Evansville market, starting out as a weekday weatherman and weekend sports cer. In more than 40 years of sports reporting, Blake has received associated press awards for both sports and newswork. Over the following decades, he co-anchored the first 5 pm newscast in Evansville, helped to launch the first Friday Night High School football and basketball shows, and continues to host the popular news and community serviceoriented show Midday with Mike. He has been elected to five sports hall of fames. Let me say that again. Five sports hall of fames, including those saluting excellence in Indiana football and basketball. Mike Blake, legend. I would like to meet you, sir, and have a long conversation with you about this industry. Dude, he was >> what a what a legend, >> dude. Okay, wait. When did he start? >> Thank you to the Indiana Broadcasters Association for the write up about >> Mike. When did he start in Evansville? >> Says 1970. >> Okay. 40 years. >> You know what that would have meant? I believe he was the one who broke the news when the University of Evansville's entire basketball team passed away in that plane crash. >> What? >> Dude, this is the 50y year anniversary of this. 50 years ago, they were traveling, I believe, in a plane to Miami of Ohio. >> Okay. The plane was carrying the University of Evansville Aces men's basketball team to a game against Middle Tennessee State. >> Ah, never mind. Middle Tennessee State. The crash occurred on December 13th, 1977 at 7:22, seconds after takeoff from Evansville Dress Regional Airport in Indiana. All 29 people on board passed away, including 14 players, head coach Bobby Watson, team staff, flight crew, and supporters. The night is remembered in Evansville history as the night it rained tears. >> Yeah. >> Holy cow. That would have been seven years into his tenure. >> Mike Blake was there and he was the the one I believe and don't quote me on this. Evansville uh locals will will know best, but just a legend in the market. Wow. >> And this next season is the 50y year anniversary >> of that plane crash where they're going to be honoring the team. >> That is crazy. >> And dude, again, this is just from spending >> a few days in Evansville. I'm talking about spending an hour and 45 minutes at Casey's Stugout. There's legendary broadcasters walking in, current players. There's like >> We got to clip this, >> dude. It was It was incredible. There was like a MLB coach sitting up at the bar just like minding his own watching Thursday Night Football and watching some baseball. It again, I cannot say enough good things about that. >> That was small ball Central. >> That's Small Ball Central. Evansville Memorial in the game of the week, I'll say for us, takes down Floyd. Let me look real quick if there's anything else. That's >> Oh, I did want to say again, another Southern one. We did we talk about on the heart on the pulse, did we say? Uh, shout out to Gibson Southern. They locked up the conference and they took down Booneville by like a a decent little chunk there. >> Gibson Southern, >> it was kind of a close game and then they pulled away in the second half. >> So, it looks like Yeah, Gibson Southern outright champs of the pocket conference. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> So, uh, that was another Southern Indiana one that I had kind of in the small ball central. >> Um, just just perusing scores here. anything that stuck out? Uh, Wheeling Wheeler's got a really good matchup next week. Uh, Lawrenceburg, been hearing about Lawrenceburg. Keep you keep doing your thing. I believe they're undefeated. >> Uh, Mccanoqua still remains undefeated. Again, we're kind of just like going to highlight some stuff in small ball central. McCannqua moves to 8-0. Get it done over Manchester. The Squires 5514. >> Indian Creek is unbeaten. 8-0. They beat Beach Grove. >> Number seven in 1A. I believe they were ranked number seven. Madison Grant falls to Missinoa 36-22. Hey, you know who's still rocking and rolling? Purdue Englewood. They moved to 7-1 with a win over Indianapolis Washington. >> Sorry. Again, if anyone did listen to last week's episode, Dom's brother actually helped start that program. >> That's real. >> Shout out to Tone. >> We were just talking to about it. >> Big Tone. >> Griffith's unbeaten. Okay, I'm going to talk about them a little later, but Griffith is just quietly 8 and0. So, there's small ball central. So, we want to get to some big ballers. >> Let's talk about the big ballers, Dominic. >> 4A through 6A. Big baller time. >> You got to lead this one to start. >> Okay. Danville ranked seventh in 4A. Unbeaten. They beat McCutchen who was 10th in 5A, 42 to7. Carter Ward for Danville, 20 of 25, 277 yards, four TDs. >> Dominic got an email. If you watched the full episode, Dom got an email from a Danville parrot and then we addressed the email and then there >> in a very light lighthearted way, I would like to say. >> But there were more emails exchanged that were positive. >> Yeah. Oh, yeah. We're positive. >> I'm putting this out there after the football season. If Danville has an undefeated regular season, you got to go grab a beer with that guy. >> All right. Deal. >> Deal. You got to grab a beer with that guy and just talk all >> very He's very nice. I was like, "Hey, man. It's we're all good. I think that you guys are are going to be buddies and this will be an epic story." >> Yeah. I I and Danville deserves some shine, man. They uh they're undefeated. And uh I believe though, now this is where it gets interesting. Danville sectional, they got Chitaard. Okay, so that's going to be very, very tough. They got Lebanon, if you'll remember, five years ago, it was Danville Chitard in the state championship. >> Is that right? >> I believe it was 5 years ago. Somewhere around there. >> Okay, that sounds right. Actually, I'm going to tell you cuz Jamie Comr did in fact go to semi-state in 2020 or excuse me, state in 2020. And they were in class 3A at that point. >> Yeah. and and I that game was chitard, but that is uh there's some history between those two teams. >> So yeah, uh Danville, well done. Big time win. Mason Shipley, seven receptions, 125 yards, two touchdowns. Good stuff. >> Shout out to that senior wide receiver. >> And then we mentioned this game as well, but playing field edges 28-27. Ethan Ellis had a 60 plus yard touchdown run to take the lead late. He had 166 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Big time for playing field. I was also at this game. Lawrence Lawrence North Center Grove Z Moore 29 carries 255 yards two rushing TDs and a receiving TD that I caught on camera. Would love to play it here if you can. But Zore is unbelievable. Uh Center Grove without Oscar Sloan would like to say again. But Lawrence North playing good ball. >> I mean Center Grove with the backup QB. Who's that guy? >> I couldn't tell you his name. I forget his name. It was clear they were just kind of overmatched. Um >> but I mean they only lost by eight. >> I know it was 21 to7 I believe at half. So good second half for Center Grove. Obviously, they're going to be someone you got to worry about in the state tournament. Hopefully, Oscar Sloan is back. I do not know the severity of that injury. Hopefully, it is not that significant. Um, talked about Dwanganger beaten Snyder. Uh, we talked about Danville Chitaard took care of Teroot South uh in class 5A. Bloomington South smoked buff. They play Center Grove this next week. So, that'll be fun. Warsaw beat Concord as I mentioned. Pelton Heights beat Yorktown. And then, uh, Brownsburg just dismantling Noblesville. Fort Wayne Carroll over Northrup and Westfield over Fisers 42-21. This one stuck out to me. Zansville beat Avon 33-13. Zensville quietly 6-2 season. >> Oh, >> now when they play Brownsburg and Westfield, they got beat pretty handily. So, but beating all the teams, you know, you previously weren't in past years, very nice little season for Zansville, that result shocked me a little bit, beating Avon 33 to 13. >> That's a good win for the Eagles. >> I think so. >> I like that. Looking around. I'm kind of like looking into the the big ballers here. >> Any other any other undefeateds that we're missing? Have we talked about East Noble this week? Cuz they're now 8 and0. >> We We do give East Noble a lot of love. >> Oh, we do. Uh did I see uh Alex Phillips with 102 yard interception return? >> How about that? They beat New Haven 6220. They got Belmont to end their season. I suspect they will be 9 and0 in the regular season. in their sectional is Columbia City, which was probably one of their better regular season matchups. I think it's it's a semi-state situation for East Noble for sure at the very least. Southbend St. Joe really good as well. That's going to be an interesting part of the state. Northridge very good as well. >> I'm like looking through to see if there's any other like one loss teams. No, I think that we kind of covered all of that. >> Well, I think we know what I think it's time for. >> What's it time for? >> I think it's time for the Sorggy report. We Let's talk about the Sorggy report and let's talk about how he can do a lot more than just throw the ball and a lot more than run the ball. I have it right here. >> I got to get down in my mentions for this play because >> I have it right here. >> Ball the Colts hate. >> Oh yeah, >> look at this. The old flea flicker reverse and he he puts a move on that. >> Let's talk about the throw by the wide receiver there. >> One, >> look at that play. Let's break this down a little bit. >> I mean, okay. Oh, and he hits a little that's a little arms going. >> A little Saquon Barkley celebration. Okay, so when we go back here, he takes a snap and he's giving it to a wide receiver coming from right to left. Little toss, little flip, little flip back, reverse number three. >> Okay, it says Braxton Fleece. Braxton Fleece with the D. >> That's at the 40. He's throwing it from the 40 to the opposite 30 yard 30. No, 25 >> 25 >> 25 yd line. >> So that's what >> 25. That's a 35 yards in the air. 35 yds in the air from >> he makes oh that unfortunate >> he outruns the DB puts a little move on outuns the second DB touchdown little celebration >> this is the Sorggy report we were looking for uh Tri West Sports Network >> they do a great job >> please to Sory for a Bruins TD that sent them up 28 also the the reverse pass up 21 nothing I like your style >> just a little making it late early >> I like your style because I will say up until that what was uh what was Triton Central? Oh, three and five. Okay. >> Okay. So, there's your Sorggery report. >> Sorggy report is he gets it done in all three phases. The future Badger. Good for him. >> Good for him. >> It's time for your high school football player of the week powered by Ascend Football. Dominic, who are our nominees this week? >> Well, first of all, I would like to mention a nominee that we missed last week. >> Yes. >> Okay, we got to mention this is from October 3rd, so last week, but unbelievable stat line that we missed. Amari Price for Hammond. 22 of 26, 548 yards, nine touchdowns to eight different receivers. >> 41% of his completed passes went for a TD. Amari, sorry I missed you last week. That's an unreal stat line. Deserve to be mentioned this. >> Absolutely insane. That's an awesome stat line. And what I love even more, one, I went and checked out his Twitter. A12 Amari A12 Price. He has a 4.0 GPA. >> Let's go. >> And his tweet was, so there's a graphic had a career night. Shout out to all my teammates and coaches for balling out with me and playing at a high level. I love that, dude. Just a class act with a 4.0 GPA for the Haymon Morton Governor's 548 nine passing touchdowns. You were an honore. You would have been a nominee from last week. Again, there's a lot of stats that were sifted through there, but that is one that we could not miss. But now, let's go to this week's high school football player of the week powered by Ascend Football. Dom, who are this week's nominees? >> Okay, we got two. Zay Moore of Lawrence North. You know how much we love this guy. 29 carries, 225 yards, two rushing touchdowns, and a receiving touchdown. The receiving touchdown was epic right before the half. Got it perfectly on camera. It's wonderful. >> I will say I feel like he's been in the mix every single week. I >> He is in the Mr. Indiana football conversation. Period. End of sentence. Yes. >> But >> 100%. Guy is unreal. >> I am a sucker for lots of touchdowns. >> Same. And that's why >> and anytime someone gets close to 500 yards, >> you have our attention. >> You have our attention. Remember we said uh the New Haven quarterback who won last week threw it what 51 times? We thought that was a lot. What about 61 times? >> What about 46 for 61 for 492 and six touchdowns? Aiden Robinson. Hello. >> Hello. This guy from Mccanoqua. This senior quarterback is going to be our high school football player of the week. This guy 61 passes hitting at 46. Oh, I have a feeling a big reason why the McConnqua Braves are 8-0 in Ethan Robbins first year at the helm. They beat Manchester 5514. And a lot to thank for Mr. Aiden Robinson. Hey, Mr. Robinson. >> Six touchdowns, 492 yards. You threw it 61 times. Get some ice on that shoulder. >> Incredible. That's a heck of a performance. And I want to say if you have a nominee, again, we're sorting through lots of tweets trying to find all these stats. If you want to put any of us on your distribution list, if you have stats come out early in the week, we record Monday nights. Yeah, we would love to have more nominees and honor these amazing high school football players. Uh because I mean there are a lot of big numbers being tossed around there. Aiden Robinson, player of the week. All right, here are the matchups that I like this week. Spangle, grab a seat, listen up. There are some really epic matchups in the last regular season of Indiana high school football. Let's start here in central Indiana. 6A fourthranked Center Grove hosting 5A second ranked Bloomington South. We've talked about New Pal and Cathedral playing a tough regular season. Stacking their schedule, getting right when the time is to get right. Bloomington South just one loss on the year coming to Center Grove out of conference game. See where you're at. Great measuring stick. Let's see if Bloomington South can get it done because we've talked about Spang. Bloomington South has been just knocking on the door under Gabe Johnson, right? Okay. They've gotten to three straight semi-states, but have not gotten to state. So, this might hopefully get them over the hump. Playing good against Center Grove certainly would help in that regard. Spangle, these next two matchups are the matchups. Actually, these next three, if I was choosing where to go in the state, it'd be one of these three. And I I'm so excited. First of all, 6A 6ranked Penning 4A Southbend St. Joe. 4A 6 ranked Southbend St. Joe. Both 8 and 0. Winner wins the Northern Indiana Conference. Dude, battle of unbeatens. >> That's in uh Granger up there. >> Oh, dude. That's a little cross town, a little cross region rivalry there. >> If that is in Sports Michigan's game, that what we're doing. I mean, >> got to be. When was the last time Southbend St. Joe beat the Kingsman? >> That's a great question. If you could find that in a relatively timely manner, I'm on it. I'm on it. Great. >> Penn under Pete Rearan, 27-4 in three years at Penn. Okay. They've gotten to regional last year, 11-1. They've been mowing people down, outscoring people 50 to4 on average. Southbend St. Joe is one of those teams in 4A. That's legit. 85 and 47 under Ben Downey. They got to semi-state last year. This is the type of game shows you your medal if you're South Ben St. Joe. >> Hold on, Dominic. I'm back in the stats. Southbend St. Joe last defeated Penn in a varsity high school football game on October 23rd, 1976. Is that right? That's what I'm seeing here. I don't know if that that if that's correct. That's crazy. And can this be the team for the Huskies that gets it done? >> As far back as as far back as John Herald goes, Southbend St. Joe has never beat Penn. >> This it says 1976. >> As far back as we'll see, >> recorded time. >> Almanac Sports. We'll see if that's correct. But >> if so, let us know in the comments the last time you remember Southbend St. Joe beating Penn Harris Madison. Anyone remember? >> I don't know what it was. I believe the school system is called Penn Harris Madison. >> But how about this? If you don't like that, if you're up in northern Indiana, >> it is Pen Harris Madison. >> Okay, there you go. If you're in Northern Indiana and you don't want to go to Penn Southben St. Joe, well, I don't know what's wrong with you, but you could go to 5A top ranked Warsaw go to 4A 7th ranked Northridge. Two unbeaten teams yet again. Winner wins the NLC. >> Wow. >> I'm calling a Northridge win. >> What? >> I'm calling a Northridge win. We've been a Bart Curtis podcast all game all season long. >> I still think Warsaw goes to 5A state championship, but I think Northridge wins this game and wins the NLC, baby. >> You think that uh you think that Bart Curtis's Tigers aren't going to be ready to go? >> I'll be ready to eat some crow if I'm wrong. >> All right. Uh I'm going to go with the Tigers. Okay. >> I think Bark Curtis, the original Black Crunch, peri Miranda, we got to say it every week. I think that the Tigers are going to be rocking and rolling and they're going to get that job done. >> Okay. Okay. And then they're going to be our representative coming out of the north. >> Okay, I agree. Well, except I think North is just going to win. >> Yeah, so he doesn't agree. >> Okay, how about this? Oh my gosh, this is so good. 4A top ranked East Central hosting 4A fifthranked Ronali. Now we have some updates on the QB talk, Mr. Spe you want to share those with us? >> We do have some updates on the QB talk. So again, we've been getting >> I want you to read that whole thing. >> We've been close to the situation, right? >> Ron QB situation. What do he say? What do you say? >> Okay, so the QB update. Dom is still the starting QB. However, there will be an active competition. They're they're battling with Jack Quillin. >> Jake Quillin, >> uh the transfer from Warren Central. They're splitting a little bit of reps and uh they're figuring out if they make a change. >> Per source, a lot of discussion from the coaches on this. All right. Lot of inner turmoil, some might say, because I mean, you got to get the quarterback right in the state tournament, especially in 4A. Jack is the better QB overall per source, but managing the entire situation with the team will be interesting because Jack would jump ahead of two seniors that have started at QB for Ronali this season if they do make a change. >> So depending on the draw and how Ronali is doing in sectionals, Jack could start to see some action early on after Dom. Still Dom's spot to lose. He is the middle linebacker. >> I mean, yeah. So if he was not the quarterback, he would originally or he would automatically go and start at linebacker. I think that I hope they don't run a two QB system. I think that one, what got you here? I mean, you beat New Pal. >> I was going to say you just beat New Pal. >> I feel like you got to go with I feel like you got to go with Dom. See how it goes against E Central. If it doesn't go well, then you think I think you go into the Well, but I don't know. There's also culture like are you loyal to your guys that have been there the whole time? >> I will say Ronali like knock on wood Ronali should be fine through sectional. So, I think you can learn a lot in 3 weeks here. >> I don't know. It's going to be interesting. sources are close to the program saying that it could be interesting. I'd love the the scouting report at practice. I want to know, but do do you go with the gunslinger to get the job done? I don't >> Tom Cromer's been playing well. >> Well, it doesn't take, you know, you don't you're not usually a bag of rocks if you beat New Pal. >> No. Okay. Probably pretty good. >> You got something going. I'm curious to see how this one plays out. This is a telling week. We've been setting the table for this all all season long. If they beat New Pal, if they go and win out the rest of the season, what do you do at the QB scenario now that their transfer QB is eligible? >> So, if you were like Josh Pate or someone and you chose your game of the week, like would you go to Penn Southbend St. Joe, Warsaw, Northridge, or East Central Roni? I'd probably have to I'd probably if I was looking for points, I'd probably go to Warsaw Northridge, but I think East Central Ronali. But you're forgetting another one, Dom. There are two unbeaten teams playing up in Northwest Indiana. The undefeated Wheeler Bearcats are going to Griffith. The Panthers, both undefeated. Uh Wheeler is, I believe, ranked in the top 10 at >> 3A. Wheeler is ranked 10th in 2A. Griffith, like I mentioned, quietly undefeated, ranked seventh and 3A. Winner wins the Greater Southshore Conference. >> I mean, so we've got one, we've got three unbeaten matchups, >> and we got another one coming. All three for conference championships. >> Yep. >> And we have Ronali East Central. I mean, I'm probably I would want to go back and look at the stats and see how good is this St. Joe team cuz it would be awesome to see a team pull out a win when they when they haven't won there in in almost 50 years. >> 50 years on the dot, I think. >> Is it 51? 76. >> Oh, so 50 long years Penn has dominated the greater South Bend area. >> Yeah, if that's right, that's crazy. Let us know in the comments where you would go cuz these are some insane matchups. >> Okay. Love the Griffith Wheeler call. Well done. Ninth ranked in 4A Evansville writes travels the 3A six ranked modern day battle of seven and ones. >> Now this is a good matchup too. This is the battle of the west side. They play for a giant acorn for the Westside Nut Club. >> This is a huge trophy. >> That's awesome. >> What? What? >> Battle of seven and ones. I believe both of them their only losses are to Evansville Memorial. So, they have a common hatred of Evms Memorial, I imagine. Rights and modern day, baby. >> Dude, look at that giant acorn. >> That's cool. >> That's the traveling trophy for the Westside. They both play their home games at the Rights Bowl. >> Okay. >> And um we have to put on our schedule next year. They want us to come down. So the Westside Nut Club fall festival happens last week and the rights honor day game is always the Friday afterwards because they know that if they had the game on a Friday during the fall festival they >> would be >> attendance would be it would be upsetting. So modern day in rights playing on the west side go check that one out. Any more matchups that stand out to you? >> Yeah, just a couple here. 4A 10th ranked Loganport host 3A 12th ranked Twin Lakes. Logansport trying to have an unbeaten season. Eastern Hancock fifth ranked in 2A travels to 1A fifth ranked Milin. We got 8 and over 7-1. That is an outofconference game which I just love. Talk about a measuring stick for both schools ahead of sectional. This is from Milin. Um was October 6th. That was before last Friday. Yeah. Okay. Well, we got uh we got a comment that said, "Please look at new. The Milin Indians have not played but one full game of all of their starters this season, and that was the Batesville game. Uh they are a very talented group. One of the best offensive and defensive lines. They've lost one game by one point to a 3A school. All the others have been absolute blowouts. We're talking 56, 567, 463, 690 over Edinburg, 64 nothing over Brown County, 55 nothing. They just beat South Decar. And now they get to play host to the Royals of Eastern Hancock. Dominic, >> their only loss is to Batesville by one point in week two. Ryan Lenerman in 19 years at the school, 133 and 84. They went to semi-state last year, >> dude. But I will say this, the Eastern Hancock Royals are no slouch. >> Absolutely not. They're fresh off a couple weeks back, beating lapel, >> handing them their first loss. That was for basically the conference championship there in the Eastern Crossroads Conference. We passed Eastern Hancock on our way to Pittsburgh. Gave him a little hello. But yeah, I'm really excited for that game. Eastern Hancock and Milin. Yes, shout out to Milin as I mentioned. Very very impressive. Seven and one on the season. So I'm excited. But >> lot of good matchups. >> But we've said I mean which matchup have we been forgetting? Pioneer and North Judson baby. 1A number two and number three. Battle of unbeatens >> in the Hnack. >> I'm taking Pioneer. >> Wow. Dude, I will say North Judson had rolled absolutely everyone until they came up against the casting comments. They got it done. A win's a win. But this is going to be a heck of a game. >> Who's hosted? That game is going to be played at Pioneer. >> That's going to be played in Royal Center. >> Royal Center, baby. >> The fighting Jack Kaisers. >> Maybe Jack Kaiser will be there. >> Uh I mean, he's probably in Jacksonville, I would assume. >> And so uh but then North Davies plays uh Springs Valley number four vers number 10 in 1A. And that's matchups that I like. >> Those are great. I Okay, I lied. I might take my game of the week on the road to Royal Center. Okay. to watch 18 just them battle out North Judson and Pioneer because I have Small Ball Central in my veins, dude. I absolutely love it. That is a heck of a matchup. Number two, number three to end the regular season. >> I know. >> Uh is that going to be a if they were both to win out in sectional, would that be a regional matchup? Got to be. >> Feels like Yes. >> Feels like a regional. >> Um that the winner of this game will win the Hooser North Conference. >> Yeah. Hnack. >> The Hnack. >> Come on. All right, Dom. That is our high school football updates for the week. We're going to round out with a couple fun segments here and uh we'll send everybody on their way. We're going to see if Dom can name 15 Mr. Footballs. >> Okay. Mark Zachary. >> Wow. What a wild pull. >> I know. But like that just going back two years. Okay. Reese Taylor. >> Yep. >> You're just a big Ben Davis guy. >> Josh Ringer. >> Yep. >> Drake Bowen. >> Yep. >> Jack Kaiser. >> Yep. >> How about Rex Gman? >> Yes, sir. 1998. Is that six? at six. >> Okay, >> let's go Jaylen Smith >> 2012. >> Okay, how about recently? >> Oh man, you're you're missing the all-time leading rusher ever, not just Indiana. >> Miles Mclofflin. >> Yes, >> Mlolin. Molin. >> Mclofflin could put some respect on. >> Okay, we got eight. Okay, come on, Dammy. How about Gunnar Keel? >> Wow, what a pull from Columbus e Notre Dame guy. >> Notre Dame guy. >> Yep. >> Uh, okay. What about Terry McLuren? Did he win Mr. Football? >> I don't. Oh, yes. 2013, he won. >> Okay. Is that 10? >> That's 10. You got five more. >> Okay, man. I knew 10 was a good number. >> Now, you're missing an easy one. Friend of the program. Not been on your program yet, but been on my program. >> Carson Steel. >> Yes, sir. 2020. >> Okay. Um, you are missing uh back-to back Hendrickx County Westsiders both with uh they had really funny uh signs for their student sections when they went back when they played each other uh one of their junior years and one of their senior years. Come on, you can do this. You can do this. >> Hendricks County Westsiders. >> Yeah. So, Ben Davis, >> no. Hendricks County, >> Brownsburg. >> And yes, you have the schools. >> Okay. >> Think about backtoback years. Very funny student section signs. >> I don't know. Don't wait. I want to try and get this on Barrett. I have 11. >> You have four more to go. >> Okay. What about Jay Cutler? Did he win Mr. Football? >> I don't think he won Mr. Football. >> I don't believe he won Mr. Football. >> Okay. What about >> uh You're forgetting another one that is going to be a guest on your program soon. >> Brandon Sharp. >> Uh no, but if he won, that'd be cool. Think about uh proud sponsor of the pod, >> Dewan Daniels. Dewan Daniels. >> Chitaard baby. That puts you to 12. If you've got three more to go, you are these ones are going to be Dude, if you were to just get Okay, there's three quarterbacks. I'll give you this. There's three quarterbacks that will get you there that you for sure know. You for sure know uh one I'll give you one was one was all Big 10, one was ACC turned Big 10. Our years, dude, like a year after us in our year. >> I'm be put on the spot here, >> dude. Come on. You can do this. Um, what about uh Ron? What about David Bell? Did David Bell win Mr. Football? That was recent. More recent. >> No, dude. There's three of them. Okay, I'll give you three schools. I'll give you three schools. >> All right, I should get them. >> Wait. Uh, you already got two of the high schools. I'm going to give you three colleges. Michigan, Clemson, Purdue for their first >> Hunter Johnson. >> Yes. And his arch rival >> at Avon quarterback. Why am I not thinking? >> Dude, think about the signs. >> Did he go to Michigan? >> Think about the student section signs. Johnson and Come on. You can do this. You can do this. >> Michigan quarterback from Avon. >> Yes. >> What year? >> 2015. He then ended up transferring to Illinois. >> Oh, it's um Brady Gibson. >> No, Brady Lewis or Ah jeez, >> what's his name? >> Brady Allen. >> Brady Allen. >> Brady Allen. And last one you should have gotten. Oh, wait. There's one more. There's one more. He was the all-time leading rusher in Indiana until it was broken by Miles Mclofflin. Big boy. Very. He played for a team that uh just rattled off 29 in a row before this season. Dude, you know this guy. >> I'm giving up. >> Yes, you do. >> Who's the Avon QB? >> Brandon Peters. >> Brandon Peters. >> And Charlie Spiegel. >> Charlie Spiegel. >> Dude, that would have been So 14. I will say 15 was a great number. 14 was good. >> 14 was good. 15 was the number. Uh finally, just some things rounding out college uh college sports in general. I went to the Butler vers IU exhibition. >> Yeah, >> great time. Uh Hlefield House was rocking. The Hooers were in town. It was cool to see uh Trent Sicily. He's a uh an Indiana guy. How many How many Hooers are on Butler's roster and how many Hoosiers are on IU's roster? >> Six on Butler's. >> Uh four and four. I just put my fours up. Uh, it was crazy. There were four Okay. >> There were four Hooers that played high school basketball or are from Indiana on both teams, which is pretty cool. Pretty neat. >> Anything else we want to look at? Do you want to do a quick college football board? >> Okay. So, Marian beat Indiana Wesleyan 30-28. Wesleyan had won five in a row. Uh, Wesleyan had been NIA's number three team. Entered on a five-game win streak. Marian's win, snapped that run, kept the Knights in the top 11 mix. St. Francis beats Judson 70 to7. Notre Dame dismantled Stanford. by the way, that was wonderful to watch. Indiana escaped from Nebraska. Did you see any of that one? >> Yeah, buddy. >> Man, I thought Nebraska had it. >> Wow. >> But big time teams win those type of games on the road. So, give Nick Marsh a lot of credit. He played really well. Um, Purdue, this shocked me. Purdue beat the snot out of Minnesota 41 to13. Minnesota had beaten Michigan and Washington in consecutive weeks. >> Fame, I boy, I boy, he is electric. >> He's electric. >> That guy does it all. He is amazing to watch. >> How about this? Butler is 5- one. They beat San Diego 41 to10. Kevin Lynch has the boys absolutely firing. 5-1 >> is Butler. Valpo gets it done over Drake 2113. That's a really nice win actually. >> That is a good win for them. >> Um Hanover beat Wilmington in Ohio. Rose Holman beat Anderson. Franklin falls to Mount St. Joe 42 to 36. Depaw on buy. Marian number 11 beats Indiana Wesleyan number three. 30-28. That's the game of the week. >> Wobbash also on buy. >> Wash is gonna have >> John Carroll and Washu. >> Yeah. Backto-back weeks. Going to be a big test for the Little Giants there. Finally. Did uh was Manchester also on buy? >> I have not seen Manchester in the mix here. So >> I believe they were on by. They are playing Franklin. Franklin vers Manchester. But we did get an unboxing to round out the show. um from my friends in North Manchester. >> Okay. >> They sent us a little package here. I'm curious to see what they sent us and I really hope that it >> Oh, I have something to show you. >> Oh, this is It's I don't know. It's kind of stuck in here. It's very well packaged. >> This is from like the college Manchester. >> This is from Manchester University. And >> another mascot, >> the Spartans, dude. >> All right. >> Oh, >> what we got? >> Oh, Dom. What we got? >> Oh, damn. >> Oh, is it a bobblehead? >> Oh, damn. >> O, hold on. Hold the phone. Hold. >> Very good for our podcast audience. >> Hold everything. We are unboxing for those watching at home. >> We got >> Oh, I'm totally de >> Oh, yes. >> All right.
