Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, wherever you are, however you may be listening. Thanks for tuning in to the Get Indiana Podcast Network. My name is Dominic Miranda and I've been covering sports for nearly a decade. Most of which right here in Indianapolis. This is the Get In Sports Podcast. We're going to be covering everything in the Hooser State, high school, college, pro, in the sports capital of the universe in the greatest state on planet Earth.
Thanks so much for coming on this journey with us. Let's get into it. Hey everybody, welcome to the Get Indiana podcast studios. Nate Spangle joins me, Dominic Miranda, and I have a feeling that this is going to be our best episode ever. I do believe this will be our best episode ever. You guys can let us know, but it was a phenomenal week of high school football.
So much has happened. We're going to recap soccer state champions, the college slate that happened and is forthcoming on this November 7th that had everyone had marked on their calendars when it comes to the college football slate. We got matchups we're looking forward to. We're going through our brackets a little more with the red pen this time unfortunately this week. That's going to happen. Okay, but one huge win that we're going to talk about.
It's a jam-packed show. Let's get right into it. First, Spangle, you had a busy week, dude. I had one of my sportiest weekends of the year and it started it started up on Thursday. On Thursday I took my talents to West Lafayette. Yes.
To learn about the dynasty that is Purdue volleyball. And actually the mastermind who is responsible for two dynasties if you think about it. Uh his family the family name is responsible for the volleyball dynasty that is Indiana. And and honestly, uh I'm giving him that credit in the interview multiple times. This is coach Shawn Dell, uh absolute legend, uh Purdue's all-time winningest coach. Heclipsed Jean Katy, the legendary basketball coach.
He's the all-time winningest coach in Purdue history. He in any sport in any sport. He's also a legend. Um my Delaware County, his dad helped start the Ball State boys varsity volleyball program. Okay. They started Munyana volleyball.
They have just like done so many amazing things and he gave so much credit to so many other people outside of his family as well. That's why he's successful. Yeah. Right. And his brother was at Muny Burus. Is that correct?
His brother was at Muny Bur Central. I believe he won, you know, a handful of state titles there. Uh I believe the number was he almost had 600 high school victories. He was close to 600 and then got the call to go from high school to take over a Big 10 program when he was 45. So he That's crazy going from Muny Central High School. He was there from 90 1990 to 2002.
Won 600 games. Yeah. Or matches. Yeah. 600 matches. 600 bouts.
Bouts. Yes. 850 winning percentage, four state titles in a mythical national runnerup. That's what Wikipedia says. Did he mention anything about that? Why does it say mythical?
I think it was just like based on their team that year. It's like there wasn't actually I don't think there was a tournament, but they were like 39-1 that season. He was also recognized as the 2002 national coach of the year by prepball. com. Dude, beast. And then he gets the call from the old Purdue athletic director who says like, "Hey, we're going to give you a shot here in the Big 10."
And and they were kind of like at the bottom of near the bottom of the Big 10 at the time and he came in and totally is like just brought a ton of life and energy in. And they've made a ton of NCAA tournaments and they've advanced to I believe the Elite 8 is their highest advancement thus far in his Oh man, I think the math is like over 20 years. Yep. But this year coming up, they're going to host the Big 10 volleyball tournament at the Fisers Event Center. Yes. This is the inaugural one.
They've never brought all of the Big 10 volleyball teams together for a tournament. They just pick it from Well, they pick their winner from normal conference play. So, why the change though? Uh cuz volleyball is popping and we have a great venue to host it. That's very true. And Nebraska volleyball particularly is unbelievable.
Big 10 is really good at volleyball. But it was awesome. I got Thursday I got to hang out with with Shandelle and all of the um of the women's volleyball team up in uh up in Lafayette. It was great. They smoked Ruckers. It was great.
Nice. Then Friday, I went to what I believe to be one of the greatest high school football games that may have ever occurred. Dude, it was incredible. Uh Caramel Carmel at Westfield sectional semi-final sectional could have been the state championship game, honestly. I mean, it was really, really good. uh back and forth, drama, everything you want in a game.
And I cannot wait. Later in the show, we're gonna dive into that full recap. Yes. Then on Saturday, I went to another crazy college football game or a crazy college football game, which was IU. And that game was electric. Like Minnesota almost got it done.
We were sweating. 20 seconds left down. What was it? Three. You were thinking, "Oh, 60 yard." I was like, "No way, dude."
Backto back 60 yard field goals, bro. There was some magic. There was something in the air that night this and it wasn't Fernando, it was the Indiana Hooers. It was uh what's his name? Wilson. Grant Wilson.
Is that his name? Young guy. Young guy. Young guy. Uh replaced Josh Hoover and got it done. Those two throws the the back shoulder like 40 yard end of regulation to Becker and then the overtime throw to Becker.
Dude, Charlie Becker is ridiculous. He's unreal. He's really really good. Yes, sir. Fun weekend for you. Fun weekend for me.
We were all over doing all the things. And Dom, I do have to say, uh, shout out to all of the wrestling programs across the state, high school wrestling, first day of practice here in the state of Indiana. Boys wrestling, girls was two weeks in, I believe. But boys wrestling had their first day of practice today. It's officially wrestling season in the state of Indiana and basketball season and basketball season, baby. Crossover crossover season.
Do you mind if I tell you about my week? I would love to hear about your weekend. Uh, on Friday, I was at Brownsburg Zensville. Uh, one of the gentlemen on the sideline at Zansville said he's a listener to the podcast. shout out everywhere I go. It's I really appreciate you guys.
It's It's very kind of you to say something about Spangle and I and uh we we're just having fun talking ball and if we shine some light on people who deserve it along the way, then A+ for us. But I'll tell you this, Brownsburg still looks unbelievable. And then I went way across town to Lawrence Central. Lawrence North. Lawrence Central hung around. Lawrence North only won that game 1714.
Zore when they needed a play, Zore 62 yard screen pass comes across the field down the sideline. and I said, "Peace, that's all I need." It was awesome. And then on uh Saturday had the pleasure of calling Depaw John Carroll. According to d3 football. com, 25 verse4 number one game of the week.
Number one ranked game of the week. Deps that blank 35-7. Yeah, it was a clinic. It was a clinic, baby. The defense was unreal in the second half. And we might have uh some of my best.
Should we roll tape? Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. We want to do Let's do Let's do Carmel Westfield first. Let's do Carmel Westfield first. So tell Wait, are we are we on track here? Okay, Spangle, you were at the Caramel Westfield game with our good friends Chad Cers, Chud, and Robert Kincaid Jones.
Yes. So, uh, Father Quinn. So, tell me about Carmel Westfield. Caramel gets it done. 38 or excuse me, 4845, I believe, was the final. And this game was unreal.
I took played my hand my first time ever live tweeting an entire football game. First off, hard hard to do. Did you get some good responses? No. terrible. Nobody nobody was really expecting me.
This is my first time ever doing it. Sneak attack. Yeah. Um, so I mean I got a thousand views on the initial tweet and then from there it went severely down, but not nevertheless I still had fun. So I mean getting names and everything like while you're also like hanging out up there it's it's challenging. So you're telling me being a sports journalist not not the easiest thing but we played our hand for it.
Uh this game back and forth the entire game it was electric environment 10 out of 10. Uh we got to go up into there's like a spot above the press box where we were hanging out up there with some friends from Westfield that had us uh up on top of the press box. Nice. Great bird's eye view of the game. We were having a good time and honestly it was pretty back and forth. I did see and anyone that's a Caramel fan and a West everyone agreed I saw maybe the worst call I've ever seen made.
What was it, dude? the Caramel quarterback runs Jackson Treadway or was it Chris Harris? I think it was they went back and forth. They've been down. Yeah, Chud told me Chris Harris was best player on the field. Dude, he looked he was incredible.
Uh, I think they had him at quarterback though in the first half and he whoever whichever caramel whichever caramel quarterback ran this. It was um Reed option and they sold the fake so well and the QB pulls it and is is gone. That would have been like a 70 yard 65 yard touchdown and they tackle the running back and blow it dead. They faked out the refs. They faked out the refs. Refs blow it dead and then they I would have lost my mind dude.
And and at that point, like it was not set in stone who was going to win this game. Uh I believe the tweet was following the brutal call, Carmel goes three and out and that's the punt. It was an 85 yd touchdown untouched. Refs are fooled. Blow it dead and they gave Caramel the ball at the spot where the whistle blew. So the quarterback maybe got 15 yards.
So inadvertent whistle and then that's brutal. It's over and he was untouched up the sideline. It was nuts, dude. It's garbage. And so from there then Westfield kind of battles around. So wait, first half though, Westfield 23-14 Shamrocks at halftime.
They hit a field goal as time expired. Um then coming out of halftime, dude. Caramel scores 34 in the second half. They score and then they pull to within two. Westfield goes three and out. I mean it was kind of back and forth, back and forth.
And then yeah, take me to the first play of the fourth quarter. Caramel scores. They went for two and didn't get it. They were leading at that point 3523. So the there was a Why did they go for two? Uh because 2335 they wanted to be up 14.
Okay, that makes sense. So it made it made sense. Westfield was just shaky in the third quarter. I couldn't really get anything going. But then take me to this like like last last 90 seconds of the game. So or how Westfield kind of got back.
I think it start Okay, a Caramel defensive back trips and the Rocks take it 50 plus to the house. It was a great pass and that puts it 3035. Caramel is winning. Then Carmel answers with an 80 yard bomb of a touchdown to Chris Harris. Christopher who is quarterback but he's playing receiver now. They move him over to receiver and he is absolutely electric.
Catches an 80 yard absolute bomb of a touchdown to go up 11. And me being a junior playby-play or uh live tweeter, I did not put times on any of these, but so they go up 4130. Uh I think that then they hit the extra point and then it is Oh my gosh, I'm not doing a horrible job of this, but I'm going to get you I'm going to get you to the electric part. The Rocks then have a a quarterback keeper and they pull it to 3742 and they attempt an onside kick and do not get it. Okay, Caramel gets it, scores 47 yards to the end zone. Like it seemed like it was out of reach.
The game seemed as though Caramel had it locked up. Their students leave the student section and go down along the fence. They think that they think this game is over. All of a sudden, it's 4837 and a guy beside me sitting in the stands goes, "All we need is to score, go for two, recover the onside kick, kick a field goal, and we're going to overtime." And I'm like, "Oh yeah, you could totally do that." I'm sitting on the Westfield side.
In the back of my head, I'm like, "No way, dude. This isn't Madden." Like, what are we talking about, Dom? Do you know what happens? Westfield drives the field in 40 seconds. There's a I believe there was a minute 42 left.
Westfield drives the field in 40 seconds and scores. It was, Dude, we we Caramel started playing like giving a lot of coverage, giving a lot of cushion there. And it was just like dink dunk out of bounds, dink dunk, out of bounds, first down, all the stuff. Westfield scores, lines up for a two-point conversion, gets it with 102 left in the game. They're now only down three points. 4845.
4845. Westfield lines up for the onside kick. And the guy beside me is like, "Hey, remember I told, you know, all you needed to get was this." And you start doing that math like that like busted parlay math on Sundays of like how you're going to you know you know how it goes. Oh, I'm familiar. Dude, this Westfield kicker hits the perfect onside kick and like takes like a little like baby bounce baby bounce and then just boom.
Yep. That's the one two and the guys on the sideline, the Westfield guys like screaming down the sideline, jump, catch, secured. Now place is going nuts. Place is going nuts. And it is it's like I'm in the locker room. Do you believe in miracles?
Do you believe in miracles? Yes. Dude, I'm going nuts at this point. They they start driving pretty well and maybe got a little conservative. We got a little conservative and like maybe I I'm not going to say clock mismanagement, but I'm saying like I think we probably could have saved some time and you know ran our 42nd offense a little bit better. Maybe got closer.
I mean it's a high school kicker we're talking about. It's a high school kicker and that's no disrespect. I think they get it all the way down to around the 25 to make it like a a low 30s yard kick. Yeah, it was a low 30 and he had missed one earlier in the game. Very Well, didn't they did they block one earlier in the game, too? It was either miss or block.
Something like that. Like they we had had a kicking fiasco earlier on in the game, but you know, we're lining up. This guy's good. And you know, Kevin Wright has a timeout to burn. the old Chuck Pagato. Dude, he makes uh he makes this young high school lad think about it for a little bit.
Oh, and he w I was watching the game. He was thinking about it. He thinks about it just a little too long, Dominic. And this is what we have. Shout out to Caramel. Click the volume.
Yeah. Shout out to our friends at Caramel Football. Kick rocks. Great caption. He lines up and they just through the center, dude. Blocked.
blocked field goal to tie the game in what would have been the craziest comeback ever. And if they get that kick, I think it's all Westfield. It goes to OT and I think it's all Westfield. And then I don't even know the high school overtime rules. Okay, so this is the interesting piece, dude. We talked about the students that have started to, you know, congregate on the edge cuz remember this is a game that Carmel lost earlier in the season by four.
They've been on the wrong side of these games all season long. But this time, but this time they were on the right side. They were and they were on the Kevin Wright side and they get the job done. But the interesting piece was, you know, after the touchdown, you know, you see a couple kids start to go back up in the stands. After the two-point conversion, you see a few more kids go back and now they're going to split. Uhoh.
It's like a little red sea scenario happening there over there on the Greyhound sideline. They get the onside kick and you see a couple more kids go back up there like, uhoh, did we uh did we come down here to rush? Did we come down here to rush the field a little too early? It was electric. You know, an unfortunate end for Westfield season. I feel like they've been in this scenario where they're like always a bridesmaid, never a bride.
Yeah. They have that young sophomore tight end Snow. I think he is really good at football. Yeah. His dad was a former Colts player, I believe. His name is Escape, I believe.
So, I mean, he's The Rocks are going to be all right. I think there's a lot of a lot of returning players coming back. Crazy game shootout. Like, this is like prime West Coast P like prime Pack 12, Big 12. Like this was a nuts highowered offensive scoring game and I felt like I don't know the ticket was like eight bucks or whatever it is. Worth every penny.
I would have paid more. Amen. I wish I could have I wish we could have we went live before that game actually. Funny story. We were going live on the field before that game. I believe before you arrived and one of the officials comes up to me and he shakes my hand.
He goes, "Hey, my name is Derek. I tell my guys here." And he's pointing to the officials about your clips all the time. And I was like, "No way." I hope Dererick wasn't Hey, Derek, if you see this and you were the inadvertent whistle, you know, man, it it's okay. It happens.
We're we're we're a pro official podcast here. Very much pro officials. Hey, this this is an unsponsored segment that's sponsored by the IHSA. If you're a young kid out there and you want to stay around the game, go be an official. Seriously, they need them. They need they need officials aren't getting any younger out there.
No. And they do a very very good job. Okay, so awesome football game. It was electric. And remember, you know, and we'll get into it a little later, too, but Carmel's lost four games, all to ranked teams, all by one possession, save for Warren Central. They've been close.
They've been they've been in the mix all year long, and we saw that. We knew it. And what? Yeah, we both had Caramel. We both had Caramel. Westfield beat Caramel on a last second play a year ago in the sectional final.
Yeah. And so they were owed. I mean, dude, it was just like it was history repeating itself, but the inverse, right? Like last year, Carmel won pretty handedly in the regular season. Westfield walks it off at the end in overtime, right? Gets to the state championship.
Yes. Yes. And then uh so Westfield wins last year but loses in the regular season this year. Westfield wins in the regular season. Caramel gets Caramel gets the job done. And Spang, how many times in just our last two weeks, three, let's call it three weeks, have seen a team win in the regular season, lose in the postseason, Dom, as we get into the brackets and the se dude, it's happening so much.
Man, it's crazy. Like 2A and 3A are nuts. Like it's just a whole and I think it's going to continue to get crazier. It there's some sides of these brackets that are just bonkers. Like we we'll get to like the 3A. Um but I want to talk about So So that was my sports experience on Friday night and then obviously I was at the IU game again like go watch everything from that.
It was insane. The environment down there was crazy. There were a few moments where it felt like the air was sucked out. Did you get uh some of your ice cream? I did. If you do find yourself, oh, we're in sections 103 and 109.
Glovers Ice Cream, Indiana Sugar Cream Pie. It's a flavor that I helped create. We love it. Obviously, if the weather still holds and you're down at Memorial Stadium and you want some ice cream, go hit it up. Uh, it was a collab. Glovers is out of Frankfurt.
100-y old ice cream company. Never too cold for ice cream. Never too cold for Indiana Sugar Cream Pie, ice cream, and football and pothole. The pothole one. The pothole one's not down there, but the pothole one's still around, but Indiana Sugar Cream Pie is down there. Okay.
and it helps keep the show uh running every time you buy a little cup of ice cream for us. So, okay, awesome recap. Fantastic weekend for Spang. I enjoyed my high school football. I actually thought I'm happy I told you to tune in to WTHR's Operation Football 11:00 show cuz I thought it was one of our our better ones. It was a great show.
A lot of really good highlights. It's the highlights make the show. If the games don't have good highlights, it was a lot of high-scoring games. We'll get into some of them, but I had a lot of fun. Appreciate you watching. That was fun.
And then yes, went to Depa. My first time doing play-by-play in a professional capacity for ISC Sports Network. Again, 25th ranked Depal hosting 14th ranked John Carroll. It was a game that went down to the wire a year ago. And uh we've picked three calls here. Again, Depal getting it done 35 to7.
Shout out Coach De. Talk to him today. And for anyone that doesn't know, like this is big. It's going to have D3 playoff implications. uh big huge game as we lead into uh our favorite game of the season which will be in Muny this year and it's the Monell game and we're going to talk to you about that a little later in the show. Yes.
So John Carroll joined the NCAC last year one conference. It was Depal's only conference loss. This year WashU joins the conference. Both John Carroll and Depal lose to WashU and it's probably just a two bid league for the D3 playoffs. So this game was massive for that and Depal just put the belt on them. It was awesome.
So, I can say that now. It was I was very unbiased during the broadcast. I promise you. Okay, so we got three calls here. This one was a trick play. Again, this game was played on Halloween.
I want you to rate and don't spare my feelings. I want you to rate these calls. And I have not I have not heard these calls yet or seen these plays. All right, I was a little rusty. All right, here we go. Roll tape.
Last two plays. And that the offensive line is really doing a good job up front right now. They absolutely are really getting a push up front. It's going to be a little bit of a Oh, we got some trickery here as Pitzer rifles it up and it is caught by Johnson. Happy Halloween. Trick or treat.
Evan Piter the throw. Johnson the catch. His second touchdown of the day. This one a lot more exciting than the first to paw 13- nothing. What a great call. So it was a little trick play, little little toss there and then uh so they went up 14 nothing in the first half.
A little trick or treat, huh, Dammy? Well, it threw me off who was throwing the football, so I had to quickly look. Oh, dude. I can't imagine being the playbyplay guy. Like, you got to know all the numbers. You got to know the last name.
I should have brought my prep sheets. Honestly, dude, he sent a picture of the prep sheet. It's intense, dude. You were ready to go. It took me from 7:30 in the morning till 3:00 in the afternoon on Friday. I probably should have prepped earlier in the week.
Have a few things going on, I have to say. Anyway, let's go. Second one. This one's just a sack, but I thought it was it was cool. Situations. Second down and 15.
Pressure coming and finally Depal gets home. It's Nehemiah Dao. He's been close. Finally gets a sack. They've been knocking on the door all day. They've been knocking on the door and and when I looked at the kind of an average one.
All right. Yeah. You know, um not not trick-or- treat, but hey, heck of a play. Nehemiah, he's good at football. Ben Davis, they have like four or five Ben Davis from that 2023 state championship team on this defense. Yeah, the 15-0 team.
Yeah. Yeah, they're really good. And then the last one, this was the finisher. 28-7 in the fourth quarter. John Carroll scrambling. This was awesome.
To 135 here. Third down and medium. John Carroll needs points here. Ball rushing for Green. Spins out of a wouldbe sack. Keeps his eyes downfield.
It's intercepted. And there he goes. Jackson Kane all the way down the sideline. Touchdown. Oh, baby. Oh, what a play by Kane.
This Depal defense suffocating in this second half. 347 Tigers. There you go. Little little Dom flavor there for Depal. What' you think? Yeah, dude.
Not too bad. Not too bad. I think that we could have had some more trick-or- treat like candy puns maybe. Like he says, "Give me the candy. Nobody's home. I'm I'm running."
Okay. I don't know. I was going to say I think it'd be hard to come up with those on the spot. I definitely had to knock the rest off. Here's a question. Did you think about some oneliners leading into it?
Uh the happy Halloween for sure. No. Trick or treat really plays well because it was a it was a trick play. You see? So I'm trying to I don't know what I would say. I would just be like Auburn's going to win the football game.
They're not going to keep him off the field tonight. Yeah, that would be me. Dude, no job. No, seriously. I had a lot of fun. Dude, you're really getting to branch out this uh this season doing a lot of different forms of media.
Uh I mean, think about that. You were I mean, we were putting out podcasts, then you were live at 11. Yeah. For op for what do you guys call the night show, just operation football? Operation football, but not sunrise kickoff. Yeah.
You were live at 11:00 and then you're back on a call doing playbyplay on Saturday at Depck of a weekend. It was It was fun. Yeah. I've gotten to do some cool things to like sideline reporting for the fever. That's fun to like flex that muscle. Play by play.
It's fun. It's fun. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He's a sports guy in case you didn't know.
Anyway, Spang, that was our weekend. I think we can't be keep the uh people waiting any longer. You want to get into some high school football? Dude, I want to know, Dom, what score stuck out to you this week? I am so happy you asked. All right, let's start off with it.
We We just talked about it, but it it bears reminding. 6A 10th ranked Caramel takes down 6A third ranked Westfield in an instant classic. What do you think that NCAA football 09 Oh yeah, dude. It's a classic story. Number one. Number one, right?
Number one. Uh Dom, as we get into this, widest margin of victory, 87 this week. Uh Lafayette Jeff beats Anderson 87 nothing. That is a heck of a sectional. How many times has Anderson been on the receiving, dude? Uh man, yeah, Anderson again, we feel for you.
Keep your guys out. Did they win a game? Wait, can I give you a spoiler actually that I thought was I mean it's not funny, but it's kind of funny. The widest margin of victory in the college ranks. Guess who's on the receiving end? Anderson.
Yes. No. Mount St. Joe beats Anderson 76-0. Dude, it's it's tough time for for football in Madison County. What what's going on?
Anyway, yeah, I just thought that was an interesting little wrinkle there. But yeah, keep your Again, we've said it all season. Keep your guys together. Get a group of freshman, sophomores, let them write it out to their seniors. I'm getting emotional. It takes It takes one class.
Yeah, dude. All right. And then you build off that. You're a big school. You got a lot of kids there. They can figure it out.
Yes. Caramel Westfield game. Unbelievable. Again, Carmel scores 34 points in the second half. Um Dom, talk to me. How many teams do you think are still undefeated?
Well, I did see the graphic. So, 20 20 teams still unbeaten at the So, no unbeaten teams lost. Uh no, one did. Wasn't West on West. Anyway, we'll get to it. Um Chris Harris, shout out to you.
Very, very good game. Anyway, elsewhere in 6A. Okay, so Crown Point Marville, remember they played the first or second week of the season. Fifth ranked Crown Point takes down Marville 4333. A barn burner up there in the region. Crown Point collision course with Penn.
Mhm. I think most certainly. Okay. And then how about this? In 6A, we're just going to go through the classes here. Franklin Central upsets 11thranked Decar Central 41-23.
It wasn't close, dude. Wow. That's big for the Flashes. Are they getting hot? Are they getting hot at the right time? Well, they got Warren Central next week.
That's going to be a tall task. Chip a chance, dude. That was my I think that was only my second incorrect game in the 6A bracket. That was my first incorrect game in the 6A bracket. Who else did you get wrong up there? Uh, I had Fort Wayne Northrup.
Ah, and I did not have Homestead. I That's was disrespectful to me to Homestead. Yeah. Uh, but I thought Fighting Allison Williams. I thought that Franklin Central. I I was like, "Oh, yeah, Decator Central.
They've been good. They got that heck of Is it Sabance?" Uh, no, that's Play. That's Planefield. Uh, who's the Isn't this doesn't Decar Central have a good quarterback? Uh, yes.
His name's escaping me right now. But, uh, it's funny. Decatur lost their first game of the year, won eight in a row, lost to Franklin Central. Did they beat them earlier in this season? Anything can happen. No, they did not play earlier in the season.
But Kyle Enright's bunch very very good because of this loss. Also remember Kyle Nen Rip telling us Decater Central will move back down to 5A. Oh, so does that mean somebody new will come up? Uh unsure. I feel like he went through the scenario with us. I'm unsure exactly who's moving up to 6A.
He did mention someone. Well, actually they might go back down to 32 teams then and there won't be any first round games. Yeah. Okay. I think that might be someone will just get a buy or something. Okay.
So interesting result there. Decatur on the losing end of that. Let's go to 5A. Third ranked New Pal beats fifth ranked Pendleton Heights 53-35. Get this. Pendleton Heights was down 28.
They cut it to 10. Tried an onside kick. Didn't get it. And then New Pal slams the door shut. Reese Reagan threw for 249 yards and three touchdowns. Logan Parks runs for 216 yards and four touchdowns setting up for a date with the top two teams in class 5A in the sectional final.
Cathedral and New Remember this is I think there's still a way if New beats Cathedral and wins a state title, you can do the the transit of property math all the way down to Evansville Memorial. That that would what a fascinating matchup that would be. Memorial and new pal. There's still another 5A team down there lurking. Dom that has looked really, really good through the stretch here. Who would that be?
And that would be our Panthers of Bloomington South. Man, they beat Franklin 63-0. Dude, that we've been saying it all season long, Dime. You've been saying, "Oh, they're they've been in the mix. They've been right around there." I'm telling you.
Okay, obviously they didn't get the game at uh Center Grove. They didn't come out on the right side of that one, but it was respectable showing since then, dude. I'm telling you, they've looked really good this entire season. I think that game went a long way for them to get that kind of okay, you know, we can hang. We only lost uh Center Grove by 14. They were up in that game, I believe.
And it's setting up nicely not to look ahead too much for Bloomington South, but upset alert in class 5A. Sixth ranked Floyd Central. We've been singing the Highlanders praises all season. Falls to 10th ranked Castle 30-29. A one-point game. Highlanders came into this game as big favorites.
The Knights have been battle tested though. They finally break for through Doug Hurt 155 and 85 in 21 years at the school. How about the Castle Knights Spang getting it done over Floyd Central. Uh Dom, I believe that this might be a final play of the game that we sound the alarm. Do we Oh, Eyewitness News. Thank you.
See local news. Local news stations. Hold on. We're going to pull the clip for the win. So, what happened here? Let's see here.
Oh, I love this. Two Floyd Central at Castle tonight. The Knights off the 5A buy last week. It would be all tied at seven at half. It would be tied again in the fourth quarter at 14s until Floyd Central draws up the QB scramble and the Highlanders retake the lead. The Knights need an answer and you know who they are going to.
So w it drops back, airs it out. Nine is always open. We wait for the call. Touchdown Knights. This is WTVW in Evansville. Floyd Central would score again to make it 29 to 22.
But Castle marches down the field. Not much time left. Wins it. Drew Klepsky. Don't sleep on this kid. Knights still need the two-point conversion though.
Wins it under center. Wins it. Scramble. Wins it. Scores. Wins it.
Wins it for the Knights. 30-29. Passel wins a thriller. Wow. So they go for two. They go for two to win it.
Holy smokes. No way. Wins it wins it. Shout out to Central at Castle in Newberg. The Highlanders Jackson to Luke Jacobe. Now he looks like he's going to score, but he's knocked out at the one.
That set up this as Stone rolls right on the keeper and gets in for six. But the Highlanders come up short tonight. The final 30 to have the last play. Dang. They had to get back to the station. They didn't have the last play.
No way. So, shout out Evansville right there. WHT WTVW Eyewitness News, dude. So, how about that, dude? That was up and over the top. Wins it.
Wins it. Wins it. Wins it. Wow. Great call. Sawyer wins it with 14.
1 seconds remaining. A game-winning two-point conversion by the Castle Junior QB. We're going to get one more year of that young man playing high school ball, baby. Well, I'm so happy you rolled the clips cuz we have another one spang in class 4A. We loved this one. Sports Michigan on the call.
Sixthranked Northridge beats ninth ranked Southbend St. Joe. Northridge is leading 28-27 with a minute 19 left. Southbend St. Joe just scored. Here's the two-point conversion to go up by one.
A minute left to go up one. Yep. This is the game. Chuck Free on the call. In the cap. Kreniti running towards the end zone.
Did he get in? Oh man. Did he get in? No signal. I got to be honest with you, Spang. I thought he got in.
Spang, they did not allow the We got to get a replay. Hold on. Do they have a replay coming? Uh-oh. Spang, it looked like he got in. I thought he kind of got in, though.
Did it not look like he got in? It kind of looked like he got in. Dude, what was that line judge looking at? A two-point conversion. They got to get the replay, right? Let it roll after this.
Chitano splits wide. It's Kreniti in the cat. Kreniti running towards the end zone. it in. Big shot. I think that one guy needs to He's looking backwards.
Why isn't he blocking? Get in. And Northidge holds on down. The whole South Bend St. Joseph team thought he got in. There's the official wave off.
Get a great replay here down the line. I What am I looking at? Goodness gracious. Right at the goal line. I mean, this line judge is right on it. What a great job by Braden Walston and the rest of that Northridge defense.
No way. Wow. Oh, there's your meal tonight. I got to tell you, Spang, it looked live like he got in, but I mean, the line judge was right there to try to take the lead. He was right there. Splits wide.
It's Kreniti in the cap. Kreniti running toward there. How does he not get in there? To the left. Squeak out to the left there. But I Dude, that guy, he needs to move his tail.
How does he He goes back in and then somebody fills the hole. Dude, you're right there. You're telling me right there. How is that ball not across the plane? His feet are on the end line, dude. I got to tell you that is what a heartbreaking finish for the Huskies.
Feels like some replay in co or high school football. But anyway, Northridge remains unbeaten. We've sang their praises all season. Southbend St. Joe again going for two, not getting it. The final 28-27, Northridge advances.
They're gonna play Northwood for the sectional championship at Andrews Field. At Andrews Field. This is a home blood. Blood makes grow. All right, I got a couple more before we get to the second clip. Well, I was going to say, speaking of 28-27, are you not ready for this clip?
All right, we're getting to this clip. We got one more clip to watch. So, these two teams weren't ranked. However, this was a crazy finish. I want to set this up exactly. 28-27, Muny Central leads Yorktown.
Yorktown with a potential game-winning field goal lined up here. It was pretty lengthy. Looks like they're on the 30 maybe. 7 seconds to go. Why don't we roll the tape here? Roll the tape.
How about the local broadcast y 38 for the junior kicker Drake Ford. 7 seconds remaining. Yorktown trailing by one. Sectional semifinal. Plenty of lay on this. A championship appearance on the line.
Hold is good. Kick is up and it is off the upright. He dinks off the upright. No good. And the Bearcats will escape with a win. 28-27.
And this crowd is going crazy. Now that's a call. I should take some notes from that guy. That was a great call. Hold on. Look at the leg he's got on this though.
Kick is up. And it I mean that hits off the top of the upright. The very top of the up. That was good from 50. The upright. Its off the upright.
No good. And the Oh man, I want to know who was on the playbyplay. That was fantastic. Well done. But IHSA Class 4A sectional 20 semi-final. Yorktown.
They've had a tough go this season with results and adversity. But you got to give credit to Muny Central. They they hold on and they get it done. And Dom, that was also a streak that was broken. At that point, Muny Central had lost 10 straight to Yorktown. What better time to get it done than the sectional semi-final.
Man, I I feel for the Yorktown Tigers. I do too. My Central draws unbeaten Loganport in the sectional final. So, that'll be a fun game. Wow. I believe actually I believe they have played.
Nope, that's a lie. They have not. But anyway, that's going to be an interesting matchup. So, interesting class 4A. Glad we got the clips on there. Okay.
Elsewhere in 4A, this was an interesting game. 11th ranked Heritage Hills beats eighth ranked Evansville Wrights 4226. It wasn't close. We talked last week that Heritage Hills was lurking. They've been kind of sneaky, dude. Under the radar.
Massive win for Kevin Temple in his first season. Fifth straight win for Heritage Hills. They're 9 and2. Clicking at the right time. They got Evansville Harrison in the sectional final. What's crazy is that Heritage Hills in the Jasper game was a one-touchdown game.
Came down to the very end. Correct. This was They kind of ran away with it against a very good rights team. A very good rights team. Uh very good rights team that only lost to Memorial by three. That doesn't make any sense.
The parody down there like that's kind of crazy. Southern Indiana football folks, dude. But Heritage Hills, they're I believe are they a one lost team? Two loss. Nine and two. It was to one out of state team.
Good memory. Who was the second one? Yes. Owensville, excuse me, Owensboro Apollo out of Kentucky 2928 and OT and then Gibson Southern which we'll get to in a second lost by seven, but Heritage Hills man 4A has some serious teams. Okay, let's go down to class 3A. I just talked about it.
Top ranked Evansville Memorial. If the if if Caramel Westfield wasn't the game of the week in the state, this one was 3A top ranked Evansville Memorial beats third ranked Gibson Southern 63 to28. Now wait, you're thinking, Dom, this wasn't a close game. It was 28 all at half. Yeah, man. We've talked about John Hurley, the halftime wizard.
The halftime wizard. Bro, they went crazy in the third quarter. I can't even do that math in my head. What is that? 35 nothing in the second half. Dude, it was crazy.
How does that happen, dude? I think there was a bunch of interceptions. Like, I think there were a bunch of turnovers. Well, John Hurley got after his team at the halftime break and Memorial is looking like the team to beat in class 3A. They got Modern Day, who they beat by 21 in the regular season in the sectional final. Coming out of half, it was 28-28.
Everyone said Enllo Field was rocking. I bet. Uh halftime, Gibson Southern gets the ball. Coming out of half, it goes Memorial first play of the half. Scoop and score. Grayson Carter places going nuts.
3528. Then they kick it back off. Pick Memorial halftime Wizard comes up big time. Then another touchdown. They get it to 4228 Tigers early early on in the third. Um then an 82yard another 82 yard touchdown 4928.
And then I think maybe then it was 56-28. I think it was 35 nothing or or it was the potential to be 35 nothing in the third quarter. Unbelievable. And they turned on the running clock. I don't know what dude can how do you you you go from tied to half to running clock in the second half. My heart goes out.
Get it? My heart goes out to Nick Hart. Yeah, man. Four INTs and a scoop and score in the second half. Wowza. Big wowza, Dom.
That was that was not the result I expect it to go from tied up at halftime to running clock. That's a big swing. But momentum, man, Enlo Field was rocking. The Memorial Tigers are a team of do I do I dare say potentially destiny. I would I I would subscribe to that theory. Elsewhere, just a couple more.
I was talking to my co-orker Dustin Grove about this. He's a parent of a sophomore running back who's getting some significant tick for West Lafayette. Beats previously unbeaten ninthranked McCannqua 5426. Dude, the Braves came into this game 10-0. 10-0. That sectional has been crazy cuz Hamilton Heights beat Missinoa, West Lafayette beats Mccanoqua.
Now West Lafayette, who came into this game, what do you think West Lafayette's record was when they came into this game? I think they only had like a couple wins. They came into this game three and seven. Wait, and we're in what round? What are you saying? They came in West Safia.
So they beat Northwestern. Yep. That So they had two wins starting the postseason, correct? Hey, do we have a new Black Crunch? New Black Crunch alert. We could have a new Black Crunch alert.
Makano goes down 5426, dude. Okay, but this is a tale that we've seen. Uh, talk take me through Makanqua's regular season. Who are they beating? Who are they playing? First of all, Shane Fry at West Lafayette has had a wonderful career.
They won state in 2018, 15-0, handful of regional appearances, went to state in 2015, lost. So Shane Fry in his 14th year, shout out to you, sir. 131 and 41. But you're asking about McCannqua. So they ran the table. Not a lot.
I'm seeing four 1A teams to start the season. Okay. Then a 2A team in Peru. They were not tested once this season. Like what was their closest game? their closest game, Lewis Cass, they won 44-42 and Lewis Cass is in a sectional final at 2A.
Lewis Cass is a 2-way team. Okay. See, I think this in fact, they only played Spangle three 3A teams the whole season, including this last game. I think this is a tale of competition during the regular season. Absolutely. And a state like Indiana is again, this is not the college football playoff.
It doesn't wins and losses literally don't matter. I respect the coaches going out there. Obviously, not everyone can control their conference and their schedule. geographically where they're located, but like this is a team that is battle tested in West Lafayette. You talk about they started the season 1, two, three, four, five, and 0 and five. Yep.
Losing to Harrison, McCutchen, Lebanon. Look at those games last only by three points. Only by three points. Only by one point. One point. And then they got kind of rolled by Loganport.
But remember, they beat Twin Lakes who was ranked at the time for their first win. So, and then like they they This is a tough one. and they lose to LCC, but again by five points. Granted, LCC is really good. I just think that this is a tale. Uh but we've seen this matchup before, Dom.
Yes, we have. On October 16th, West Lafayette went to Hamilton Heights and lost 38-0. Now, West Lafayette is hosting this game. So, and again, anything can happen. Do you think anybody would have said they would have beat McCannqua? No, I don't think so.
Then you look at Hamilton Heights. Again, they had a slow start to the season going 0 and3 to begin. We've talked about them before, but then they've been on an absolute heater. They might be the hottest team in the state. They've won eight in a row, including wins over Missal, like I said, Tipton, who's a solid team. Lafayette Central Catholic, they're in 1A.
Twin Lakes, who was probably ranked at the time. So, it just like this is good stuff. This is Caleb Small's first year at Hamilton Heights setting up for a really interesting matchup. And that would be 3A sectional 28. Yes, sir. Okay, a couple more.
Sorry. Uh 3A 11th ranked Adam Central loses to Heritage 20 to7 in OT. AC beat Heritage 14-7 in the regular season. Anything can happen, baby. This is the postseason. Heritage will play.
What was What was Heritage's What was their record throughout the year? They came into the game seven and three. Seven and three with the losses to South Adams. Yep. Adam Central. Yep.
And Bluffton all like in relatively respectable like sevenpoint loss to South Adams. Seven point no wait eight point loss to South Adams. seven-point loss to Adam Central and a 16-point loss to Bluffton, who we found out is really good of football. They beat Norwell and Spangle. That was the end of a streak as well. Yeah.
So, two streaks are broken here. One, Heritage had lost 12 straight to Adam Central. So, talk about turning the tides there. After a dozen losses to Adam Central, Heritage gets it done in overtime, 20-7. Another streak gets broken where number eight at 3A Bluffton takes on Norwell. I believe they hadn't played in 20 years.
Now, this was really close. Uh I got a lot of love from Wells County saying we got to go come up and check out Bluffton and Norwell. Last time they played was 2006 and Norwell won the game 75 to nothing. Also weird that interesting that two teams in the same county wouldn't play for 20 years and it says they had lost 20 straight. Wow. All the way through the 90s until 2006.
I mean it would have been 86 to 2006. So they stopped playing. So Heritage and Bluffton bro both break streaks and now both play each other in the seminal final and so Bluffton gets it done 5414 over Norwell who was who was also a good team. That's just a really good result. I think the Bluffton Tigers are for real. Bluffton is 11-0.
They're ranked, like you said. Heritage is going to have their hands full, but a huge win for the Patriots. Did they play earlier this season? They most certainly did. And Bluffton won 16-0. Hold the phone, Dom.
That's in 3A. Bluffton vers Heritage. That's getting a circle. All right. That's a game to watch. That is a game to watch out for.
Okay. So, and lastly, in class 1A and 2A, everything went kind of chalky except for the fighting Robert Porters. 10th ranked Nightstown beats seventh ranked and previously unbeaten West Dell in class 1A. Westell came into the game 8 and0. They lose to Nightstown 22 to 14. Damn I didn't have this one either.
Nightstown getting it done. Trent Taylor's bunch really clicking at the right time. 1 2 3 4 5 six wins in a row. They're nine and two. They got Try in the sectional championship who they beat 49 nothing earlier in the season. That's setting up like uh good looks for the Panthers.
Uh obviously the Panthers you just said are nine and two. Is this another uh actually I won't even say they both have not had the toughest of schedules looking at Westell they were beating you know Tri Central 74 nothing Blackford 7236 327 50 to nothing 50 to6 50 to 26 528 71 nothing again like through the stretch there I don't know how much I I mean they don't have a ton of choice on like what conference or anything they're in there but I just think the battle tested teams they're ready to go when sectional time rolls around 100% spang You've been pounding the table on this all season. Uh, and you absolutely nailed it. A game that didn't make it. That's my scores that stuck out. Good luck, Brandon Parker.
Uh, you nailed it with that with Hammond Morton taking down LOL. Oh, are we You called that three weeks ago, dude. You called it. Not many people had the governors of Hammond Morton circled, but I did. Hello, governor. Hello, governor.
Uh, again, we can go into this one a little bit, Dom, because I've been hot on the Governors, and I might not have had them going far enough. Let me let me pull it up here. Let's get into it. Let's get into it, Dom. So, we've we've said all season long, I don't know, the region. We've talked about the, you know, the Chesterton, we've talked about Hbert, we've talked about some of these schools.
So, Hammond Morton has four losses on the season, three to out of state schools, one to Chesterton by a touchdown. Okay. Now, we were way deep in the transitive properties between Hbert and all the things, but this comes down in the sectional finals. We're going to see Hammond Morton with a rematch against Hobbert. Dom, how'd it go the first time? Do you know what the score of that game was?
I do not. 41 zero for the Governor. You have the Govners going how far? Uh, I have them with a losing to Northridge. I have a hard out with Northridge, but dude, I don't think I gave them enough respect. Well, we'll we'll certainly see if they get past Hobert, which it seems like they will.
They will earn everybody's respect if they get past Northridge. Dude, this they're playing tough teams from out of state. Now, now that that's assuming Northridge beats the Panthers of Northwood, but Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But I I mean, that's a game that I had circled and that's a check mark by the circle game.
I I gave you a little check there. Thank you for the check mark down. I got you. I got you. Um, do you want to go What do you want to go into? You want to break brackets?

Dom sat down with Randy and Tuan and I'm really excited to hear this episode. Some of the stuff went way over my head.
Like what it t I said this last episode I remember but what it takes to be an agent is crazy. I mean Ry's got his law degree. He was a a criminal defense attorney for a long time actually and then Dewan was a part of the Patriots. Won a bunch of Super Bowls as a scout. Dude, I got Dwan's full story. Yeah, it's crazy, dude.
He's the man. Very humble dude. Absolute like on the league trajectory plays out for a pass up in South Ben. He's playing for Boston College against Notre Dame and an injury that never uh never never comes back away from 100%. Yeah, man. It's It's like a really Wait, what year was that?
Was that the year Boston He's not that old. Was that the year Boston College beat Notre Dame? It would have been He That was like 97 was when he graduated uh high school. Dude, that might have been. So, it probably would have been 01 02. Oh, okay.
No. Ah, that's interesting to think about cuz I uh Boston College beat a Notre Dame. I'm You know what? I'm starting to think that was in the 90s. Boston College beat a Notre Dame team. Big upset and that paved the way for I believe Bobby Bowen's one of his national championships at Florida State.
Was that 07? No. See, that was way that's too far down the line. What a story from Dwando. Yes. Uh they they won in O Dude.
Boston College won in 2001 and 2002 and 2003 and 2004 against Notre Dame. Yeah. Jeez. Is this right? This can't be right. It could be right.
went through some struggles. I think that's right. Dang. Um anyway, you're you're going to hear some really good stuff from Randy Fischer and Dewan Daniels. Addison football. Okay, Spang, let's go through our brackets, buddy.
Yes, sir. Okay, so 6A pretty chalky. Um if I memory serve, Spang had Fort Wayne Northrup over Homestead. That was incorrect. Yep. And then we both had Decar Central being Franklin Central and that was incorrect.
Other than that, all green. Mhm. So, some sectional finals here. Crown Point, Lake Central, Penn Elcart. Pen already dominated them early in the season. Caramel, HSC.
We both picked Caramel. Yeah, I mean the crazy that we're both on the right side of that one. Get that. And uh you have Caramel in the state championship. I do have Caramel in the state championship. Friday of sectional play opening, I made a shift.
I have Penn in the state championship. Wow. He He backed out. I backed out. He was not Well, we're going to find out if I'm right. I have a feeling you are right.
We'll find out if I'm right or I'm wrong. I have a lot of faith in the 574 right there. So anyway, um we got Warren Central, Franklin Central, Lawrence North, North Central, Ben Davis, Brownsburg. I'm kind of interested in Ben Davis has been scrappy. Dude, you've said that they were I think the quote was frisky. They're frisky.
Now Brownsburg's ridiculous. So we'll see. Center Grove, Columbus North there in the south. Okay, 5A again. Not much red. Uh Huntington North.
Now, I didn't have Leaport. Yes. Okay. I had Goan. Leaport gets it done. Go slicers.
That's some inside knowledge from me. Goan was just pretty tough this season. I mean, I had McCutchen. Yes. I had McCuten beating Huntington North there in the bottom left side. What did you No, you looks like you had three.
I did not. I had uh Well, I had heard that uh there was a bunch of players out for McCutchen. Yeah, I told on the show, dude. I told it on the show. I I think it was like their starting a bunch of their starters uh were not eligible to play in sectionals. So Onington North got the job done there.
Okay. And then obviously I believe we both had Floyd Central beating Castle. So the Knights prove us wrong. Fantastic. And then I'm seeing Green now. I had Floyd Central in the semi-state.
So I have one of my semi-state participants out in class 5A. How far did you have Floyd Central going? You had them losing to Bloomington South. I believe I did have them losing to Bloomington South in the regional. So Okay. And you have Bloomington South winning the whole thing.
I have Bloomington South as my 5A state champion. Okay. I do want to give a little shout out to Leaport though, dude. That's uh I know that you had some inside baseball on that, but I mean that's only their third win of the season and they did it pretty handedly. 4213. Yeah.
I mean they lost to Portage 19 to 20. Michigan City, they got the dub over them, but I mean losing to Crown Point, losing to Marville, Dom, is this another tale of play good schools during the regular season? I don't think so. But it's worth keeping in mind. Let's keep let's keep the slicers in mind. Uh Concord certainly hasn't been like overly impressive.
I would take the NLC. The NLC is a very strong Northern Indiana conference and I I'm pretty biased saying that. But yeah, Class 5A pretty chalky. Outside of that, we do have a Bloomington South, Bloomington North sectional final to look forward to. Planefield Terode South and then obviously the big one, New Pal Cathedral. That is just going to be that's going to be our game of the week for sure.
Right. I mean Chitaard Danville close though. That's true. And with that we would you like to uh 4a into 4a? Let's 4a into 4a. Dominic I got to tell you I'm seeing a lot of green here.
This this is a little Yeah, that bottom right segment there is kind of tough. Okay, so we talked about Hammond Morton beating LOL. Big time for Spang. Huge call for Spang. Did you Wait, where did you have Ham and Morton out? I had LOL winning.
Oh, big for me. Come on. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Uh Northridge beating Southbend St.
Joe. I don't know. We I I want to if you're from Northern Indiana and preferably not a Southbend St. Joe fan cuz you're biased, but any Angelo D. Carlo Chuck Freebie, can you tell us if you think that guy got in? I mean, I want to see a shot from the other side of the I bet I bet if we got on Facebook or if we got on Twitter, we could probably find some angles.
It looked like he got in. Anyway, Northridge, no disrespect, you get it done. Fantastic. Hey, and Northridge has answered at every time that we've every every time that you've questioned them, they have turned up and answered specifically in that Warsawar game. Yeah, I I picked Northridge. Let's not forget in the Warsaw game.
Easy now. All right. Big Raiders got here. Two matchups in sectional 19 stuck out to me. East Noble puts the beat down on Columbia City 5317. And then I remember I said Dal was frisky.
They lose to Fort Wayne Dwinger 4313. Dude, I think Dwinger is really good at football. I do too. I do too. I mean, they Jason Garrett and the Saints probably didn't appreciate me giving to the Cal a fighting chance. They took it out on Dal 4313.
So, that's setting up Spang. This is going to be one of my matchups to watch. East Noble and Fort Wayne Dwinger. Top ranked team, fifth ranked team in a loaded class 4A. Mhm. I mean, okay.
Of those ranked teams from the last rankings of 4A, yes. Talk to me about who's still in. Okay. Dwanganger, Ronali, Chitaard, East Central. Has anyone been bounced? Um, Evansville Wrights, and Southbend St.
Joe. Dang, man. And how many I mean, we have we have a lot of ranked matchups this week. I know. This is going to be like separator time for class 4A, for sure. Yeah.
Oh, man. Cuz you're going to have Okay. Okay. Well, you're going to have Dwayne or East No. Danger East Noble. Chitaard Danville.
You're going to have East Well, that's the same one. You're going to have East Central Columbus East. They're pretty Was Columbus East wasn't They weren't in the rankings. And then remember, Heritage Hills beats Evansville rights and they have Evansville Harrison. How is Heritage Hills not in these rankings? I'm wonder Well, they're 11th in the media poll.
Hey, score one for the media poll. Dude, I did the coaches overlook the Patriots. might have. They're nine and two. I mean, Columbia City was 11 in the coaches bowl 8 and three. We already said this, but Heritage Hills two losses by a combined eight points.
One point to Owensboro Apollo and seven to Gibson Southern. Is he circling it? He's got that Sharpie in his hand. I'm not circling Evansville Harrison. Okay. They're good though.
The The Raiders have played good football this year. Um, that's just a that's a quadrant that I am uncertain about. Okay. Roni is still alive. Dom Chromemer is the man. He He's just the man.
They got more. I thought I saw I thought I saw Staley was playing. That was way late in the game. Ah, our guy got there late. Game was already in hand. Staley was coming in later.
I I received a message about that. I got you. Okay. So, sorry. Uh, sorry, Mr. Chromemer.
Uh, our camera guy got there late. Ah, I missed there was So that means that they pulled the starters. I mean, it was out of hand. Roni won 56 to 13. Um, Morsville and Casey Gillan's first year is playing Ronie in the sectional final. So, and Morsville is a sneaky seven and four.
Like, I think it's going to be Ronie relatively handedly, but like don't sleep on the Pioneers either. Okay, that's all I'd say. I'm trying to see like if they're I mean, here's the thing. Moresville, they have some losses, but they are all playing up. And then Spang, we got to talk about Wait, wait, hold on. I do want to talk.
I want to I want to dive in. I have Morsville here. Dive in. So, Morsville 7 and four, Dom. Okay. They beat Columbus East early in the season 34-21.
They beat Teroot North 4212. Then they they lost three games in a row, but this was to Planefield 14 to 27. Planefield is 5A. Bloomington North 18-37. That's like I mean it's a beatd down but it's not like that's not like disrespectful again a 518 and then they lose to Gator Central 2137 also a 5A team. 618.
Oh yeah they're 6A. Oh sorry wait yeah Decator Central 6A. Then the only other loss they had on the season was 2124 to Whitland who's also 6A. Like I don't know dude color me crazy but uh I think that the Pioneers might be frisky. I'm going to go 3120. Nope.
3117 Ron K. All right, circle that one. Actually, I'm going to I'm going to write that. Put a star. I want Dom's I want Dom's uh potential score. I don't do score predictions often, but when I do 3117, no love for the Bioners.
I drink Doseekis. 3117. Okay. And then obviously Shitard Danville. I think that was going to be cinema. I think we went into this thinking Chitaard's like really really good.
They are beat up and they have shown that I feel in these first two sectional rounds. I don't I kind of thought they're my state champion. I I respect your time. Hey, they're also my state champion. So like I'm just saying I'm just calling it like I see it here. Did Northview I think they scored 21 unanswered on them?
Northview lost to South Putt 45 to7. Dude, at what point do we say that Southput could contend in much higher classes? Dude, where do I I'm not I'm I'm going past 3A even and like could they be serviceably competitive in 4A? Like why not? They beat Northview 45 to7 and Chitaard won 3831. Anyway, this is no.
Okay, wait. No, here. Hear me out, Dom. Okay, I have a trivia question for you. Do you know Sagin? You know Sag, right?
All right. Can you name This is like net. This is like comparable to like the Ken Pom. Yeah. Okay. Can you name all 10 of the top 10 Sagrin teams?
And this is in all classes. All classes combined in one. This is like data analytics. This is like go on the Sagrin website if you want to find out all like the criteria. But I want to see if Dom can name all of the top 10 Sagan teams in the state of Indiana. All right.
Brownsburg's one. Yes. How many 6A teams are in here? Can you give me that at least? Lots. Okay.
Westfield, there are four. Warren Central, two. Think about everyone you talk about all the time. Any of the Northern 6A teams? Yes. Okay.
So, Crown Point's in there. No. No. Crown Point. Okay. Penn's in there.
They're at six. Okay. Is Caramel in here? There's no way. They're at 10. Really?
Mhm. So, that's five of the 10. Yep. Well, you got to tell me when I'm done with 6A, though. You're not close. Okay.
Jeez. Uh, is Lawrence North in there? Yes, they are three. Uh, Southside, Center Grove. Yes, sir. That's the seventh team in final sounds like from your voice.
Uh, no. Gee, many Christmas. Is Marville in there? No. Um, no, no, no, no, no. Okay, actually, I should have solicited some help.
Warren Central, Lawrence North, Brownsburg, Caramel, Westfield. This team's frisky. Who am Ben Davis? Ben Davis is seven. Stop. Really?
Now there's two teams left. Um, this is Sagrant. This is like So you're telling me Southt's in here? South Putt is in here. South Putham is number eight and Fort Wayne Carroll is number nine. These are the top 10 teams based on sagron rating for this season.
Crownsburg, Warren Central, Lawrence North, Westfield, Center Grove, Penn, Ben Davis. Then that's the top seven. Number nine is Carol. Number 10 is Caramel. The number eight team is South Putnham. So it's all 6A and South Putnham.
It's all 6A and South Putnham. And this is not our list. This is not our ranking. This is like mathematicians that are way smarter than we are. And they have South Putnham as the eighth best team based on the numbers in all of high school football in Indiana. South Putnham is on the verge of one of the most dominant single seasons any class has seen.
I mean, dude, if they obviously, you know, it's apples to oranges. All all coaches like get up big and pull out their starters, but like like these starters have played like half a season. It feels like insane, dude. Oh, actually, this was funny. I would remember when I Ty Benton's grandma came up to me at the Cascade game and I as I was like man it feels like the starters haven't played and she goes you know what Dom I asked Ty if he was excited about this game. This was against Cascade and he said grandma I'm just excited to play a full football game.
And when did he get pulled out in that game? Probably the fourth quarter dude. So North View and Chitaard that game ends up 3138. That was closer than I thought it would be. 3138. That was close.
South Button beat him 45 to7. That's what I'm saying. I think South Butt might be like for real for real. Are we gonna be talking about the 2026 South Buttingham Eagles? I'm gonna be talking about him when I'm 80, dude. I'm gonna check in on Tai Betton and our player of the year.
You always got to give love to our boy Kenan Mauy Shields. Come on. Okay, that's 4A. Let's keep going here. 3A. 3A is where the red pen is out.
You see that? Lot of red on 3A, especially on this left side. Goodness gracious. Andrean gets it done over Benton Central. Twin legs. So, hey Dom, how far did you have and drink?
Don't I feel bad. I love the 59ers. I was just feeling Griffith. All right, hand up. I was wrong. He drank the Kool-Aid.
He saw like a one-two hype Instagram clip and said, "Oh, yeah, man. They're going. They're they're going, baby." Uh, so Andrean, man, that would be another team. I mean, we're talking about Southput, 1A state champ, possibly 2A the very next year. How about Andrean, 2A state champ, possibly 3A the next season.
Obviously, a lot to go. They got Twin Lakes in the sectional final. How about this little matchup? West Noble Angola for a sectional final. Heritage Bluffton. I believe you circled that one.
I have that one circled. Yeah, that's a circled game. All right, Patriots. Let's see what you got. We're going to see this is one again a rematch. We talked about it.
Rematch from earlier in the season. We're going to see if if Bluffton, you know, what' your coach always say? Tough to beat a team twice. It's clearly I mean I've lost track of how many games have gone opposite from the regular season. Regular season doesn't matter. Green grass high tides forever.
All right. Hamilton Heights and West Lafayette. I'm like irrationally excited about this game. Again, I was talking to Dustin Grove, 13 News anchor stud. Love him. His family, how about this?
His family all lives in Napan still. His brother went to school with Tony Miranda at Northwood. I'll have to ask him about it. We just talked about today. He had his son play in a sectional semi-final, upset Mccanoqua. Then his daughter played in a volleyball semi-state at Northwood.
So his like 80, 90 year old grandparents were able to come watch his children play. His daughter play in semi-state. They lost unfortunately, but kind of a cool weekend. Hey, not a bad weekend. Anyway, sports all over, baby. Just wanted to shout out Dustin Grove.
Okay. Uh Evansville Memorial, Evansville Modern Day. That was a 21-point game in the regular season. I'm not going to I'm not going to discount Modern Day, though. Where's that game being played at? Looks like modern day if the bottom team is home.
I'm just looking at the bracket. Let me look at the actual here. Yeah, it's at modern day. So, you know what that means? It's at the bowl. I bet that place is going to be rocking.
You better freaking believe it. I I got to get eyes on Evansville Memorial. I am like hurt. I love what I do at WTR and the Operation Football, but I have wanted to come down to Evansville no less than five times this season. Dude, it's been there's been good football played down there. It's fantastic right now.
JJ Lowry, shout out Depaw, freshman corner from rights. Big- time player for the Depaw Tigers. All right, Indian Creek and Sullivan. Indian Creek lurking. They shut out Vincent Lincoln. Yeah, it was a slow burn on that game.
What was it? 29. 29. 29. You watch New Girl 29. No, I don't watch any of the shows.
You watch TV? No, I do this. It's the only way I relax anymore. Uh, I think it's at Evans on Modern Day. The Sorry, go ahead. The bowl's going to be packed this Friday night for Memorial Modern Day.
And that place is going to be electric. I'm really excited about that one. I'm in a circle one. What are we circling? Lawrenceburg, Batesville. Oh, that's getting to Dami Circle.
That's my first circle of the season. Wow. Dom circles one. Why not Batesville? Why not, baby? Why not the Bulldogs?
Okay, so Lawrenceburg's obviously a very, very good team. This is no disrespect to the Tigers. Hey, Ryan Kig 150 and 45. He secured his 150th win as head coach in 16 years at the school against Greensburg in the sectional semi-finals. Hey, congrats Tigers. So, he's going for 151 here.
Okay, so Lawrenceburg beat Batesville at their own place by 15. And if this postseason has taught us anything, 15 points is not safe. I was just going to say to me the margin of error is two scores. You know what I mean? Like it a team can theoretically come that. Yes.
I was going to say what's the biggest one that we've seen overcome? I don't know. They they they only lost to East Central 21-0. Oh, this is Lawrenceburg. But I don't know. This is going to be a good game.
Batesville lost by 15. I think that anything more than that like when it gets to be Yeah. Well, no. We saw one that was a 20 20 point flip. Did we see a 20point flip? But hey, dude, Batesville's 9 and2 Spang.
I'm seeing wins over Triton Central. I'm seeing a win over Milin. They lost to East Central by 32. They obviously lost to Lawrenburg, but they haven't lost since. Five straight wins for the Bulldogs of Batesville. Why not Batesville Spangle?
I ask you. I don't know. Okay. I don't know if we've seen a full-blown 20point flip. We've just seen some like transitive property. Yeah.
Margins of like Decatur Central, Franklin Central. Yeah. And Yeah. Like who saw that? An 18-point win for Franklin Central coming. You know what I mean?
So, like why not? Were they just like a couple of them poured on the gas too? Anyway, that's one we have circled. Dom has that circled in South Eastern Indiana. That game is going to be at Batesville again. I believe Batesville is hosting.
So, Redemption. Yeah, Batesville gets to host the game. And then finally in 3A, Tri West and Western Boon. Let's not sleep on Western Boon Spang 8 and three. And you know what? They've played they played the first game of the season.
Tri West won 4220. That might be at the edge of my margin of flip. So, I think we're going with Tri West. But do you give like a little bit of grace period on the first game of the season? Yes, definitely. That game's not going to get circled, but I'm going to maybe put a dot by it.
Like just something to check back on. Also, you know what I forgot to mention in 5A? Actually, we're going to get to it later. Never mind. Okay, let's go to 2A. Spang also seeing some red here.
I have a dot. Uh Dom, I will say in 2A is where I have the most red as well. Yeah, it's getting a little it got a little dicey for me here. So, you had Whiting over Knox. Wait, we're that's a week behind. I had N.
No, I had him way back in the beginning. I had Whiting over Knox. So, Knox continues to roll and we're going to get a Knox verse Wheeler sectional championship. Nancy Wheeler. Uh, there it is. Every single week.
Uh, again, Wheeler only has one loss on the season. Yeah. Which would have been to They're no longer playing football. I should know this. Yes, bro. You should.
Come on. You picked them to go on a run. Griffith. Yeah, buddy. Uh, other than that though, Wheeler, that's what sold Wheeler or excuse me, that's what sold Griffith to me. They beat Wheeler 30.
I got real into that for some reason. This might be a good game, Dominic. Hey, Josh Whisting first year as Wheeler head coach 10 and one. Thanks very much. Thank you. All right, so they got Knox in 2A and then we got Eastside Ro.
How about the Zebras getting to a sectional championship? Got to give some love. Uh, we're going to talk about that East Side game. I have to give credit where credit is due. Uh, in one of our previous episodes, I talked about how I was really high on Breamman. Yeah, I did.
But in my bracket officially, I I realized that I never made that change. I did have You didn't make that change, Michael Jackson. I didn't make a change. But I have to give some love to uh Ryan Brock in my DMs. He was uh he was saying, "Hey, man. I'm an eastside guy."
And he kind of was giving me a little bit of he was jawing me a little bit. But you picked east side respectfully. But I had talked about them on the podcast. I said, "Don't sleep on Bremen." Yeah. They said, "Don't sleep on Breamman."
He was respectfully jawing, which honestly, please do. We'll take it respectfully. And I was like, "Oh my gosh, dude." He was um he says he had told me he thought it was going to be What was the final score of that game? Uh Breeman Eastside. Yeah.
4113. Dude, he in my DMs, Ryan Brock predicted 4214. He said if they would have made their PATs that he would have had the score exactly right. He sent me that on like October 22nd. What's his name? Ryan Brock.
All right, Ryan Brock. Dude, you never trusted me with two first names. So, I need to know, Ryan, when you hear this, we've got East Side verse Rochester. What's the score prediction, Ryan? Yeah, you got the score down pat. I need to know, Ryan, what's the score going to be for this East Side game?
Cuz the Blazers are hot. Okay, so we got Eastside Rochester. You know, hey, you know who the quarterback of the side is? Matt Hunt. No, I'm kidding. Why is that your default answer, dude?
Uh, I don't know. Job Richmond. Richmond. Yeah, Job Richmond. Oh, I remember old Job. Job Richmond.
One of our OG. He might have been the first player of the week that we did. Job was tested in the Bible. And Job Richmond's going to be tested against Rochester on Friday night. Clip that. All right.
So, wow. Moving on. This one is where I have a lot of red. Oak Hill and Lewis Cass. Can we Can we clap it up for Coach Manoring? Yeah.
How about a sectional title appearance for our man Clay Manoring? Let's say sectional finals appearance. What' I say? Sectional title appearance. Same thing. No se a title.
A finals. He's competing for a title. Okay, you're right. You're right. He's going to take on Oakill. Has Lewis Cass seen Oakill this season?
Dominic, no. I I'm going be honest with you. I don't even know how I get to Lewis Cass here, dude. That actually be a really fun thing to do, which would be like how many clicks does it take to get to Oh, I do that all the time. It's like my favorite thing. Oh, wait.
No, we talked about Lewis Cass. I have I have Lewis Cass here. Let's do a little sideby-side analysis. D. Okay. All right.
So, Oh, here we go. Okay, I got him. I got him. Um, I'm looking for any cross. So, real quick, Coach Mannering is in his seventh year at the school. He's coming off his best season as head coach, eight and four a year ago.
Has never won a sectional championship. Is this the time? Do they get it done over Oakill? Are there any common opponents? Oakill six and five. Yep.
Dude, I don't see. So Lewis Cass went Pioneer, Northfield, Peru, Manchester, Rochester, Wickco, McCannqua, Bowman Academy, Southwood, Peru, Typton. Okay. And Oakill went Eastern, Greentown lost by one. Norwell, Madison Grant, Frankton, Alexandria, Blackford, Northwestern, Eastbrook, Miss Cinoa. I thought McCannqua and Mrs.
Cinoa, but those are different schools. Uh, Seager, Deli, and now they're gonna have Lewis Cass. I'm taking the Kings, baby. I'm taking Coach Manoring. Absolutely, dude. You're gonna you're gonna go against Bud Oman, who is in his 28th year at Oakill and is 176 and 121.
Dude, that is a long time to be the coach of a school. Give me Clay Manoring. Give me the Lewis Cass Kings. He's the chosen one. The chosen one. I was going to say it, but Okay, so we got our eyes out for that.
Hey, one of my games to watch for sure. Hagerstown and Lapel. Huge battle. Huge battle in class 2A. Uh, Hagerstown still undefeated if I am better believe it. And Lapel's only loss is to Eastern Hancock who has a wallup of a matchup as well.
Indie Lutheran, Eastern Hancock. Now, that one is one to go check out Dominic. I believe that's at Lutheran. I will be there. Well, I don't know if I'll be there, but we'll be there. I can tell you that for free.
Okay, here is my only worry. What's your worry? My only worry on which one? Oh no. Hagerstown. Hagerstown might be legit.
I'm telling you. So they beat Nightstown first game of the season 3414. And just beat Westell. Okay. Wait, let me do let me do some side math here, Dom. Okay, so Hagerstown is 11-0.
They beat Nightstown 3414. And now they're going to have Lapel. Now Nightstown, we're going to get a little bit transitive here, so just be prepared. Nightstown lost to Eastern Hancock 48-12 and Eastern Hancock beat Lapel 39-27 and Hagerstown put the beat down on Nightstown. So you're telling me close game? I think that this could be a close game.
I'm hearing close game again through the transitive property. Uh Eastern Hancock beats Lapel by 12 and Nightstown loses to Eastern Hancock by 36 and Hagerstown beat Nightstown by 20. All right. So, we're a big transitive property podcast. Close game is what I think that might be enough to say close game. I probably tip my hat to lapel.
Okay. This is for sure Scott Snodgrass's best season at Hagerstown. Like, not close. Best season, best team he's had in a long time there. This is his 16th year at the school. You're taking Lapel.
I'm taking the Bulldogs of Lapel. Give me a score. How the turntables. What do you think, bud? Score prediction. I'm taking the Bulldogs.
NS and I'm going to say 3517. Whoa. So much for close game. 3517. Well, but I I I think no respect. I think that it will be uh that that's like a late score.
That's a late score coming in. You know, I think that Hagerstown starts throwing the ball and uh and I think Lapel, Dude, they're really good. Let me tell you something. Give me the Tigers. Oh, give me the Tigers. Let's get yours.
Oh, I already did my score. You got the score. Oh, you're taking Lapel. All right, I'm circling that one. In fact, I have Hagerstown going to the state championship. I have Lapel going to the state championship.
Oh, this is a massive game for us. Holy cow. Maybe I should give you a score. Give me It's going to be wonky. Give me 2622. Wow.
I don't even know how a team would get 26. Me neither, but it's going to happen. Okay. Couple missed pats. Could be it. Little two-point conversion.
You know what we had no respect for? We had no respect for Monroia. Yeah. And you know what? They've actually had some solid wins this season, so that's on us for sure. Okay, so Monrovia is five and six.
Okay, but they lost to Cascade. They beat Linton. I remember early in the season when I saw the 40 nothing over Linton, I was like, whoa, Monrovia. But then they lost to Tri West, lost to Indian Creek, lost to Beach Grove, Triton Central, Shelbyville. I'd say their best win on the year is North is North Pot. What they who they just beat.
Well, but I mean the other thing you're not that taken into account, Dom, yes, they lost to Tri West. Yes, they lost to Indian Creek, Beach Grove. Like those three are allid three and 4A schools. Oh, yeah. They're a 2A. Well, we know how good Tri West and Indian Creek are.
And Beach Grove and their season seven and four. Yeah. And then they lost to Shelbyville, who's a 4A school. Like, they've been really competitive in the 2A all season long. Okay. Well, we'll see.
Well, they they run up against South Put. So, what's going to happen there? Have they played already? Nope, they have not played yet. Okay. Elsewhere we talked about Indie Lutheran, Eastern Hancock.
The question is, can Monrovia sweep Putnham County? They got Northbutts. Green Castle already got ousted. We shall see. Eastern Hancock, Indie Lutheran's going to be a big time matchup. Switzerland County, who Spangle did pick, I did not, is taking on Brownstown Central.
We gave Brownstown Central a lot of love. A lot of love. I can't believe that Switzerland County is a 2A school. I can't believe that's a real thing. Viv, come on, bro. some love on the Hey, name that mascot.
Nope. They're currently uh playing with only seven players on their active roster. The Pacers. The Switzerland County Pacers. No way. Yeah, buddy.
You've give good hints, by the way. You like those. Um and talk about Linton. Linton has made a sectional championship despite what? Despite the bad regular season, they beat Tel City. They beat Tel City.
What was the score? 5437. Uh, I'd also like to say the Pacers only lost by four tonight. Oh wow. Tell City came into the game seven and three. Linton came into the game two and eight.
They came into the game two and eight. What is happening? Now they got North Posey. North Posie a solid team folks. North Posy's 10-1. Only loss of the year to Heritage Hills who we've talked all about.
All right, let's get to 1A. Hey, you like this matchup, Spang? We're going to see West Central versus North Judson. Now, this is a great matchup, Dominic. If you go and look at it, West Central is another sneaky good football team. Only losses to Winnac and they've won 10 straight.
They're they lost the first game of the season, two touchdowns to Winnac. Since then, they've been kind of on a little bit of a on a little bit of a terror. Now, the question is going to come down, are they battle tested? Because one thing you got to know about the Blue Jays, they are battle tested. Yeah. between playing I mean this year Casten Pioneer they beat Winnamak twice 35 nothing and 4820.
So we have a common opponent here. We do have a common opponent but it was the first game of the season for West Central and since then they've been hot. Yeah, they've won 10 straight. I'd call that hot for sure. And then so West Central lost to Winnac by 14. North Judson beat Winnac by 18.
So, if I'm setting a spread here, probably 30 points. Yeah. And then the original time they beat Winnameck, it was 35 nothing. Yeah. Beat that. Tough to beat a team twice unless you're North Judson.
Yeah. No, I would agree with that. Oh, yeah. You are absolutely right. They have played twice. So, that's interesting.
Okay. North Judson, West Central. Keep your eyes peeled. Okay. How about a little Clinton Prairie Lafayette Central Catholic and then Pioneer Casten. I'm excited for this one, dude.
Now, if you remember, Dom, this game was Castton's toughest loss of the season. It was 35-7, but it was back in September, in early September. Yeah. Since then, the cast and Comets have gotten hot. They've won six of seven and they did they lost to North Judson, but it was by a touchdown and it was a great game. Yes, it was.
Where man, Pioneer is Pioneer might be really good, but I don't know. I think there is just a little bit of magic left. There's got to be a little bit of magic left in this season for the Comets. I believe this is their best team in school history. And man, they've just they've been they've been rolling. Chris Olick, fan of the show, was in my Facebook DMs.
Appreciate that. Giving love to the casting comments. I think it's a close game. Why not? If not them, then who? If not now, then when?
Yes, sir. Wait, what is the What's his name? The big boy. 45. Tucker Woliver. Tucker.
Big old Tucker. He's got to find the mammoth. If if if the casting comments want to win this game, they're going to have to slow down the passing attack from the Panthers, right? And Wolver's going to have to find the end zone. Ground and pound his way all the way to per take the air out of the ball. No question.
Nightstown and try in a sectional final. Nightstown beat them handily first time around. Milin North Decater. How about a little Milin North Decatur? I believe this game was all Milin the first time they round. I think you may be right.
In fact, it was 56-7. So, it's looking good for my That might be a little outside my margin of error. Yeah. My margin for flip. Hey, how about a little Riverton Park Cloverdale? Now, Dom, you like this one?
I think Riverton Park heard me because I went through an analysis of regions last week and I said I didn't know about this region. You were crapping on a little bit. This like southwest Lafayette to Teroot region. Yep. I was like, I don't know. I was basing off the Seagar Patriots getting beat by Oak Hill.
There are some transit of properties that do relate over there. And we had people talking about that the North Central Farmersburg and Riverton Park game was going to be a battle and it was all Riverton Park. I believe that game was 427. We Yes, it was. And we have a common opponent, Mr. Spangle.
Cloverdale beat North Central 40 to 27. And as you just mentioned, North Central lost to River Park 42 to7. So that might be in my margin of flip. I think so. I think it's a solid game. I I think we're gonna see uh are they the Cougars?
Who? No, no, no. They're not the Cougars. Riveton Park Panthers. Panthers. RPP.
I think we're going to see the Panthers in probably like a seven to 14 point victory there. Okay, that would be my assumption. Okay, I like it. Hey, here's the thing. It's sectional play and never count the Cloverdale Clovers out of it because they're pretty lucky. They're and they're over in uh Putnham County.
So, come on now. All right. And then finishing out in 1A, North Davies and Forest Park. We know all about North Davies. They're unbeaten for a reason. That was fun, Spang.
But I want to do a little recap here and tell you about the matchups I am looking forward to. Would you like to hear them? Yeah. Okay. Matchups we're looking forward to. We're going to just start in the biggest classes and go down.
Nothing crazy out of 6A. I mean, you could say Brownsburg, Ben Davis. Certainly. I think North Central, Lawrence North has a potential to be okay. But really what I'm looking forward to is the top two teams in class 5A. Cathedral, New Pal.
I needn't say more. Winner of this game is all but certain to get to that state championship. Yeah, buddy. That's going to be that's going to be a crazy one. I mean, this is that is worth the price of all your previous sectional tickets. 100%.
That's going to be a great great matchup. Like that is a pick them to me. I mean, I don't know. I don't know if either of them have like they've they've really they've taken their lumps this season. They both have played crazy schedules. I'm really excited for it.
5A sectional 11 title game. Ninth ranked Fort Wayne Snyder at fourthranked Warsaw. We It's been too long since we talked about Bart Curtis. We got to get him back on the pod here. Yeah. These two teams played in the first game of the season.
Warsaw won 33-30. That is in my margin of flip 1,000%. But so Warsaw dropped that one to Northridge. But I still think that they are still in contention. One of the favorites to come out of the North. Well, I just think Northridge is really good.
Yeah. So there's no shame in that. Really looking forward to that game. Really looking forward to that rematch. Don, there's going to be a battle of undefeated teams and someone will leave this weekend defeated. Talk to me about it.
We've got Indie Lutheran, the Saints, taking on the Royals of Eastern Hancock. Uh that's down in the 2A. Uh Lutheran is number three. Eastern Hancock is number five, but neither one of these teams have been beaten this season. That is correct. Eastern Hancock plays a fun style of football.
Indie Lutheran's been beaten up on teams. That's This game is going to be at Lutheran. I'm excited for it, dude. There's a lot of different places you could be. There are I know in specific to central Indiana, all around the state, there are great games happening, but like specific to central Indiana, like you could pick going to Indie Lutheran to see Lutheran and H and Eastern Hancock. You could pick Danville Chitaard.
You could pick New Cathedral. You could pick Planefield Terraote South. It'd be good games. Good football. 100% man. Okay, speaking of Well, actually, let's think in 5A for a second.
10th ranked Castle off a huge win over Floyd Central. They host Evansville North, who just snuck into the media poll, 13th ranked. These two teams also played in the first game of the year. Would you like to guess the margin of victory? Three points. Three points.
Just the same as Warsaw and Fort Wayne. That's That's uh What is that in? That's in my marginal flip. 100%. Castle won that matchup 29-26. So, we'll see what happens for a sectional title game.
All right. And then we talked about this one. 4A sectional 19. Top ranked Dwinger travels to East Noble. Dwanganger looks really good. Really, really good.
But East Noble, don't count them out. Don't count them out. In fact, East Noble, my friend, is unbeaten. Fort Wayne Dwinger's only loss is to you know this Fort Wayne team 6A Carol yes by 20 and they've won every game since. So that's gonna be a fun game to watch. No doubt about it.
All right and looking ahead this is one you know what 4A sectional 21 title gameard third ranked hosts unbeaten seventh ranked Danville. Chitaard we talked about. I don't want to go as far as to say floundering because it's like they're winning games, but we're expecting them to win by a lot. Hey man, some got to get the game done. You like winning is winning. That's winning is winning.
But can I tell you something? Chitaard is my state champion. They are also my state champion. Give me Danville. What? Circling.
Wow. Give me Danville. He's circling it. You're circling it. Dude, this is a dynasty program. Oh, I know.
All right, moving right along. There's a couple. Actually, I'm going to run through about four matchups in 3A. They're not all ranked, but they're really interesting to me. Andrean, Twin Lakes, Bluffton, Heritage, Hamilton Heights, West Lafayette. I'm just loving that matchup.
Lawrenburg, Batesville, we talked about, and then Evansville Memorial, and Modern Day. Got any lean there, dude. It's tough to beat Memorial. I know. Memorial is really good at football. Well, no, just in any of these games.
Oh gosh, dude. Um I I think you're liking Hamilton for I'm liking Hamilton Heights and for some reason I'm also really liking Bluffton. I just feel like this is a a destiny team out of Bluffton. Okay, love that. Wells County needs this. Okay, they need it.
All right, and then in 2A Hagerstown lapel. We talked about it. Battle of an undefeated Hagerstown team and a one loss lapel team. winner in my opinion has a a very good chance to keep it rolling to Lucas Oil Stadium at least for an appearance. 2A sectional 37 Eastern Hancock Indie Lutheran you already talked about it money matchup battle of unbeatens and then Pioneer and Casten my lone 1A matchup to watch this week. Pioneer and the Comets of Casten.
Yes, sir. All right, those are some matchups to watch. Spang, that's awesome, man. We're going to have a fun fun This has been a fun show. Final thing, Dom, for high school football. Yep.
I got to know. This is our player of the week powered by Ascend Football. Dom, who are our candidates this week? All right, I have three honorable mentions. Hey, I get no respect. Xavier Dangerfield.
Yeah, you liked it. 13 carries, 135 yards, four TDs. Cathedral rolled over Mount Vernon. How about Tristan Barrett out of Lafayette Jeff senior QB only threw it five times, completed all five passes for five touchdowns and 177 yards. Dude, I don't know what his QBR would be there, but it has to be perfect. It was perfect.
What's is that like 141 or something? I don't even know how how they register that stat, but I'll tell you what, they beat Anderson by a lot. Duncan Combmes of Bloomington South, the QB, 10 of 13, 221 yards, and five touchdowns. Wow. But those are all honorable mentions because Dom, you have our player of the week. Found him.
And you scoured the internet to find who our player of the week would be. You're absolutely right. Now, it was in a losing effort, albeit a very fun football game. We're heading up to the region. Crown Point and Maraveville. Maraveville QB Michael Hill Jr.
31 of 54 passing, 415 yards, five touchdowns. Holy. Unfortunately, Marville falls to Crown Point. Congratulations to the Bulldogs. But Michael Hill Jr. , you are our player of the week, dude.
Wait, give me the yardage again. 31 to 54, 415 yards, five touchdowns forever. You know, they may not have won that game, but you can't say that guy didn't leave it all out there. He left it all out on the field. Marville still a wonderful season. No question about it.
Up in 6A after being in 5A and end their season 8 and two, both losses to Crown Point. Tough. Michael Hill Jr. player of the week. Dom, you wanted to give us a quick college recap? Well, yeah.
I just think it was really impressive what DEPA did over the weekend, beating a top 15 ranked John Carroll team, avenging that loss from a year ago. Congratulations to coach Deetsz. They do have a game in between John Carroll and the bell game, but we're we're looking ahead to the bell game. Hey, you never look you never overlook your opponents, Dom. That's true. I'm allowed to because I'm a fan.
Yeah, absolutely. The other one is I saw that uh our hounds, they got on Sports Stunner top 10. I saw that. Did you see that play? I did see that. Who was that kid?
Yeah, it was against Quincy and it was Yeah, Kevers put it out, dude. That's awesome. Hold up. It What I Chris Kever what I loved is that it was Kevers. He put it out and it was him filming. He was It was him filming the television.
Look at this. Wait, this is awesome. Nick Patterson. That's unreal. No, it was I think it was on Oh, Giovani Laurent. Yeah, Giovani Laurent.
So, this is you, Indie. Uh, Coach Kevers posted on Instagram. It's him filming a screen. I believe it's number nine on Sports Center top 10. Yes, sir. Look at that, dude.
He pins it against the Quincy kid and just like hugs him into him and scores a touchdown. Shout out to the UN Greyhounds. Giovani Laurent from Michigan City, Indiana. Go Wolves. How about that? Good stuff right there.
Very good call, Spang. And I imagine UND got it done. Yeah. 7334 over Quincy. Okay. Mount St.
Joe beats Anderson 76 nothing. Spang mentioned the IU game sneaking it out in OT. Man, IU's won like three consecutive close games and then lost in the last play to Ohio State. So they I mean every game is nervy when you're talking about the Hooers of IU. Try had won five in a row. Unfortunately, they lose to Calvin 51 to 20.
Marian beats St. Francis out of Illinois, not St. Francis in Indiana 63 to 14. Notre Dame got it done over Navy. Spang, got any quick leans of the uh top ranked Miami Hurricanes and the fourth ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish? Dude, the Irish uh it's a home game.
It is a home game. Southbend's going to be rocking. Unfortunately, I have a wedding, so I can't be up there, but I know that we're going to have some people have some boots on the ground up there. Yes, it's going to be all sorts of fun. Notre Dame, if they lose, I might not be on the pod next week. I'm going be honest with you.
That's going to be tough to come back. Uh Butler is rolling. They're seven and two on the season, baby. Butler is very solid. Butler is very solid and their only losses were to Montana State, top ranked team in FCS and Dayton by 10 at home. Dayton's a top the conference right now.
I was just looking today, but uh Kevin Lynch, what a good year. And doesn't a bunch of teams make the playoffs in FCS? Yeah. Uh Pioneer League is probably a one bid deal. I don't know that for a fact, but I would imagine FC I mean FCS football. You should watch some FCS football.
All right. It's really good stuff. Um, how about this Wobbash? Tell me about Wabash Spang. Wobbash fell to Ohio Wesley in this week 2835. I believe and this is no disrespect to the Little Giants because I always love it when the bell game means more.
Agree. Uh, they had a tough October. I believe this is the first time that Wabash has lost four games in a row in program history. That is um unreal. This is a tough schedule with they I think they was like they lost to Dennis, John Carroll, WashU, and now Ohio Wesian. WashU is a top 10 team.
Yeah, like that one. It's like you have to win one. I mean, you have to win one of them. You got to beat Dennison. Yeah. You know, if you lose to or you beat Dennison and then you lose two in a row and then you fall to Ohio, like you're like, uh, but you got to win one of those 100%.
Uh, so how about this Spang Handover beats Bluffton 5514. Handover is 6-2 on the season. Handover QB and New PAL alum Ian Radibbush breaks the Handover all-time all-purpose yards record, surpassing 10,000 career yards. Hey, congrats. 10,000 allpurpose. Uh new PAL head coach Kyle Ralph uh tweeted about it today.
So, that's how I saw it. It was fantastic. Thank you, Coach Ralph. Shout out uh Rose Hullman gets it done 5214 over Manchester in Well, it has to be We're coming down to the end of Manchester's time in D3. I think it's next season, which I really I love that. I mean, it's it's a weird deal because NIA is not a part of the NCAA.
Yeah. But it is a scholarship situation. Yes. So, is it what do you what do you what's what do you think is like NID3? It's probably very comparable, but like they are getting scholarships. Yeah.
I I don't know enough about why you would choose to go one way or the other. Um, I always think that uh I like the academics on the D3 side better. Yeah. Um, that's not disrespect to any NIA schools. I just I don't know why a team would choose to go one way or the other. Uh, I think you can get better athletes because of the financial aid side of things.
I'm just wondering like who's the top team in AI? Like if with Indiana Wesley and I don't know if they're top I want to get this right this comp like so North Central I believe is ranked first in division three and if they played the top ranked team in NIA like I feel like the top end of NIA might be better athletically you think so I think so I have to believe that's a close game though right I have no idea like it's not like if you're saying divi like I think division 2 FCS is pretty close that actually might be a stretch FCS is pretty good yeah yeah like north well Northakota States FBS now, but Montana State, Montana. Oh, okay. This also says they're joining the Crossroads League, which really that's Taylor, Indiana, Wesley, and Marian, which this could have something to do with it, too. Um, just like geographically, geographic closer than where they were. So, if you're, let's say, if you need to be budget conscious, it's like you can't be sending your teams all over the country.
You know what? I think not all over the country, but even all over the Midwest, you could be right on that. Uh, well that's what I looked it up and they're saying, you know, shorter travel times, fewer class absences, reduced travel costs. I mean, that's what I would, you know, playing teams that are closer to you is better for, you know, like budgets. But this money you save now you're giving full athletic scholarships. So, how does that does that equal is it equal footing?
Who knows? These are the things we discuss on the Get In Sports podcast. Okay, Spang. I think that's a solid um college roundup. I mean, Miami Notre Dame is going to be ridiculous. I can't wait for it.
And then IU's on by and uh Purdue, I believe, has Maryland this week. And Purdue, I think Purdue might be a bull team. I think they might go to a bowl game. Look at their Do you think Purdue goes to a bowl game? I hope it's good. Good for the brand.
Coach ODM needs some wins. I like coach ODM a lot. I mean, that Penn State game wasn't bad. Spang. I mean, I think you got I mean, obviously they're three they're three and five right now. Yes, they're going to beat Maryland.
I'm telling you. Okay, they're four and five and then their last three, Iowa, Wisconsin, Indiana. So, they'd have to win two of those three. Okay, that's looking not likely. Hey, do you believe in miracles? Purdue beat Minnesota.
That's true, dude. And Minnesota gave IU all they could handle. Could you imagine? Purdue handled Minnesota. I know. Don't just say they smoked them.
They smoked them. Could you imagine if Purdue beat IOU? Dude, that would that would be insane. That would actually be crazy. So Purdue's hosting Wisconsin. I don't think they're going to win at Iowa, but they host Wisconsin second to last week.
I'll be there. Boots on the ground. Um I did predict Purdue to go five and seven, so that prediction is looking possible. Um okay, Spang, tell me about the soccer state champions. Okay, so we had the soccer state finals and uh all accounts say that they were electric on the girls side. HSC, number one team in the nation, gets it done over Center Grove 3 to one.
Congrats to them. Uh at the 2-way Evansville Memorial, they get it done three nothing over Garen Catholic and Memorial Girls wins their seventh state championship. The Tigers know how to play all the sports. At the 1A, Providence gets it done over Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian 3 as well. Congrats to all the lady state champions out there on the boys side. At the 1A, Dom, this was intense.
Talk talk to me. So Fort Wayne Blackheart Christian didn't get it done on the girls side, but their boys team was also there and beat Oldenberg 6 in a soccer game. Uh what was the stat about Oldenberg? I don't know if you have it on. Well, it was the guy he had 41 goals. That's what it was, but he didn't.
He finished the season with 41. Uh Covenant Christian over Hammond Bishop Null 2-1. And that was the Warrior on Warrior. And then uh the Carol Chargers upset top ranked Castle get it done one nothing. That is all things soccer. Dom, you have one final fun surprise for the show.
Well, first of all, can you show the people what our guy Dave Shondell gave you? Uh yes. If you can see behind me, I got this brand new autographed boiler up Purdue volleyball. Look at that thing. Autographed by the man that myth, the legend, Coach Dave Shondell. Unreal.
It's going to be proudly displayed upon our mantle back here. winningest coach in Purdue athletics history. But him and Painter, he's 68. Painter is in his what? 50s. So I think P because Painter is about to pass Jean Katy as well this season.
Wow. But yeah, and I mean I don't know how many volleyball games there are in a season, but like Shondell has put up numbers. Okay. I got an awesome message from Clayton Richard, noted former Mr. Indiana football and went on to pitch for the Chicago Cubs. Hey, he was our Mr.
Football that pitched for the Cubs. That is correct. No way. I'm 95% positive this is who it is. Now, he texted me on last Monday and just said, "Hey, thank you for what you and Nate do for high school sports. Uh, we'd love to send you some.
What's your shipping address?" And I sent it to you. I'm like, "There's no way. This is the the Clayton Richard." Yeah, we're still not sure if it is right. I don't know how he got my number.
But wait, are you sure that it is like that Clayton Richard? Well, he I looked his Wikipedia up and he is a he is an assistant coach at Lafayette Jeff and then he was I believe is the head baseball coach as well, but then just wanted to be an assistant football coach. Like he's the quarterback's coach or something. I'm pretty positive this is him because and I had to take a sneak peek earlier because I was so excited. No, this is the first time he's unboxing it first. Well, I mean I opened it.
I like cut it because I was excited and I just took I just took a little peek. Okay, but this was very very kind. Listen to this. Dominate. Thank you guys for all you do to promote our great state. My boys Castton and Canon.
Unreal names. Great names. Cash and Richard. Canon Richard. Get hyped to hear your breakdowns. They are in middle school and you are giving them what the local news used to give the older generations.
A sense of excitement and community built around high school sports. Please continue to pump out the positivity. It is making a difference. All the best. Your forgotten Mr. Football, Clayton Richard.
Oh, it was it was the elite signature. Also, the forgotten Mr. Football Dom. Um, and then I believe this says, "Coach Shanley wanted you guys to have a reminder that the Broncos got it going on." Oh, boy. What did he send us?
Lafayette Jeff looking for a sectional championship against Huntington North. Yes, sir. And they should get that done. Oh. Oh, baby. Oh, no way.
First of all, a helmet. Wait, but whose but whose helmet? Well, he went to McCutchen. He coaches at Jeff, but he went to McCutchen. Dude, a battle tested helmet. Is that game worn, do you think?
I mean, you don't earn these from nothing. So, McCutchen's the Mavericks. Yes. Okay. So, that But Jeff is the Broncos. So, that's a Jeff helmet.
This is a Jeff helmet. Okay. Well, I thought you were questioning. You said, "What is that?" Well, I didn't know if it was like I mean, this is a Is that pretty sweet? He's ready to go.
Oh yeah. Okay. So, we got a helmet. Lafayette Jeff Broncos helmet. We got a t-shirt here from Captain Spiffy. Captain Spiffy.
Get yourself some of that. Oh, come on. Captain Spiffy. Captain Spiffy. Oh, yeah. We got Captain Spiffy merch on deck, baby.
All right. Thank you for the merch, Captain Spiffy. Appreciate that. Let's go, dude. Pretty good fit. I think I could still get it going.
We got one, two, three, four, five Captain Spiffy t-shirts. Yes. This is my personal favorite. Look at that little Clayton Richard bobblehead. San Diego Padres's. That's got to go back here on our pro shelf.
You're absolutely right. It will. Look at this. So, he did play for the Chicago Cubs. That's when I became a fan of him. 2015, 2016, I would have been watching every Cubs game.
Still am. He played for the White Socks, Padres's, Cubs. Padres's again, Toronto Blue Jays. Had a 11-year MLB career. Come on, Clayton Richard. So, we got Bobbleheads, Captain Spiffy, and the Lafayette Jeff helmet.
Coach, thank you so much. I also want to say again, Cashton and Canon, thank you for listening. Appreciate you both. Come on. Cannot wait to see you guys at the high school ranks. Thank you so much.
This is very, very kind. Dom, now you know what we can do. You look hilarious. We can do Oklahoma drill. I have a Butler helmet. Thank you for the merch.
That's awesome. And that's going to be a show. Thank you guys for listening. Did you have fun? I had so much fun, Don. That was a good time.
