Football season is here. We're going to talk about Colts training camp. We're a week through at the time of this recording. By the time you're listening to this, they'll be in New England for their first set of joint practices ahead of their first preseason game. Ton of storylines coming into this Colts training camp, into this Colts season. We have some answers and some takeaways, but nothing crazy quite yet.
But there's a lot to talk about still with this Colts team. Whether you think they're going to be great, whether you think they're going to be bad, whether think they're just going to be mediocre yet again, it doesn't really matter. Training camp is a time where hope springs eternal. And there's a ton to talk about. And luckily, knock on wood, nothing bad in the health department as of yet. And if there is, I'll have to re-record this.
That'll be really funny. But Colts, obviously, there's a ton ton to talk about with the Indianapolis Colts. We're going to have three more Miranda rights. What you have the right to do ahead of this football season. And we're going to mix the Indiana Fever in. Oh, by the way, yes, their season is still going.
First loss in quite some time uh just recently against the Minnesota Links. But that game told me this team can compete for a WNBA title. Okay. Like it it wasn't a blowout. They belonged. Caitlyn Clark was a tad off.
And if she was a tad on, I think that's a win for the Indiana Fever. Kelsey Mitchell's absolutely unbelievable. Uh so, and also we're going to talk about high school football that's coming up this week. We're going to have a podcast release of Greg Rakestraw, high school football, really just football encyclopedia in the state of Indiana. He's the founder of ISC Sports Network, which airs all the high school games and a ton of other college games, too. Greg Rick Straw is just phenomenal.
So, we're going to talk a bunch of high school football, preview the high school football season. Where else would you rather get all of your sports information than the Get in Sports podcast? Like, we're rolling. We're rolling right now. Steven Holder, James Boyd, JJ Stankovitz. Okay, we got Butler and Ball State head football coaches coming up too, oh by the way.
So, it's a lot of fun. I am so energized to be here. WTHR's been awesome being able to be out at Colts camp. So, if you're not watching us and listening to us here, at least watch channel 13 and you'll get some of Don Miranda. I don't know if you want that though. So, that's up to you, but we'll certainly see what football season has in store.
But, I do want to start with Colts training camp, Will Duncan. I mean, look, I I went in and you guys crushed me. Was I a little pessimistic with the record prediction? Yes. If I had to do it over, would I say eight and nine? Probably.
Yes. Does that make you feel better? I I don't know if that should make you feel better. Like, I'll give you a win over the Browns and the Vikings and you're eight and nine. Do you want the whole regime to come back then? I digress.
I I I know you guys don't hate me, okay? The comments were mean. I'm a big man. Broad shoulders. We're going to be just fine. But it is fun to be out at training camp.
It's one of my favorite favorite things that I cover here in Indianapolis is Colts training camp because Hope Springs eternal. Everybody's good. Everybody's optimistic and Grand Park is absolutely phenomenal phenomenal place to host this. It's it makes my heart very sad that this is the last season that Grand Park will be the host of Colts training camp. And you know, for for better or for worse, this is the way that NFL's trending. Colts were one of the a few teams that went off site for training camp.
That doesn't mean Grand Park did anything wrong. I think that's just the way it's trending. That's what Carly Ers Gordon told us. And oh, by the way, uh we can talk about this, Will, but she did talk to us during the first week of training camp. And uh I I took away a lot of I have a lot of respect for Carly Ersay Gordon. I think she's definitely getting the hang of being the face of the ownership of the franchise.
Um she doesn't play and I I I'm a big fan of Carly Ursay Gordon. Now, you know, two things can be true. You don't don't have that great of expectations for the Colts, but I do think the ownership is trending in the right direction. Not that it was ever bad, but you know, obviously Jim Ersce passes away and that creates a kind of transition, a succession, and uh you know, there there is a there is a transitional period there, right? Like she's getting the hang of making all the decisions, doing everything for the Indianapolis Colts. And she was always in the room.
She was made for this moment. she was training for this moment. So, she she's definitely making it her own this ownership for the Indianapolis Colts. So, she had a lot of really good things to say, but everybody's looking at Daniel Jones. Everybody's looking at Jonathan Taylor contract. He said he wants one.
Behan Robinson comes in and gets $25 million a year. What does that mean for Jonathan Taylor? But I've had a really good time at Colts camp. Knock on wood, nothing in the injury department quite yet. And we'll get to Alec Pearson, how this absence has kind of extended a little longer than we were anticipating. But Will Duncan, producer extraordinaire, you're a Colts fan.
Okay. And before I just go off on everything that I've taken away from Colts, and if you haven't, get caught up on my three takeaways from each day of Colts training camp. I feel like I do a pretty good job of getting the three biggest storylines each and every day. Kind of spreading the love between rookies, defense, offense, Daniel Jones, Jonathan Taylor, Tyler Warren, everything. So get caught up there. We're 6 days through at the time of this recording.
Again, when you listen to this, they'll be out east against the New England Patriots. But Will, what do you want to know about what's transpired a week through Colts training camp? Yeah, Dom, I think you've done a really good job at the main story lines every single day talking about the the big big stars, but I, as an avid Colts fan, and I feel like there's a lot of legit Colts fan that watches us. Um, I kind of want to know some of the some of the maybe smaller roles that still I feel like would matter in a year. So, first off, Jonathan Taylor, obviously RB1, absolute star. The guys behind him, I'm very interested in.
So, we have Seth McGawan, we have DJ Giddons. Who do you see as the predominant running back to the next year? Okay, so it's early and Shane Stiken has been glowing about Seth McGawan. And I went into this no expectations because here here's the thing like Jonathan Taylor, especially when the MVP conversation was happening last year, 30 carries a game. Yeah. and and just an absolute workhorse.
Doesn't get tired. I mean, what six plus yards a carry. Like, that dude was absolutely on fire. Nobody's disputing what Jonathan Taylor can do. You know, he's only I don't know the exact figure, but he's somewhere in the range of 1600 yards behind Edan James for the Colts franchise lead. He knows this, okay?
And he's had years of 1500 yards, 1,600 yards, 1,800 yards early in his career. He's 27. and he's going into, you know, a contract season. Way more amicable. Before I get to the RB2, way more amicable discussions with Jonathan Taylor in the Colts front office. They've been extremely positive discussions.
Obviously, $25 million a year for Bejian Robinson. They are at two way different points in their career. And I don't think this is out of the realm of of this isn't a crazy thing to say, Will. Bean does just a lot more from the position that Jonathan Taylor does. I don't I don't I'm not saying that Bejian's way better. I'm not saying Jonathan Taylor is way better.
Maybe as a pure runner, Jonathan Taylor is better, but Bejian Robinson got wide receiver money because he does so much more. He does more out of the backfield. He's a fantasy stud. Okay. So, I do think they get a deal done. I'm thinking it's going to be in the range of like $18 million, which I think would make both sides very happy.
He's 27. I think Jonathan Taylor's got three, four really good years left in him, but you can't argue that there's been a lot of mileage on those legs. So, I say all that to say he's a workhorse, but you you've been trying to find the RB2. Thought maybe Evan Hull when you drafted him a couple years ago, injuries kind of got a hold of him. DJ Giddens's really excited about him. But I'll tell you who's been impressing me the most is the seventh round rookie Seth McGawan out of Kentucky.
Shane Stiken, like I said, glowing about him. I asked him about him. What what has been sticking out because he seems to have some spunk. Okay. He He's known for his physicality and he's been like a power runner. He's got moves.
He's got get up. He's got burst and he has been running so hard. I There's three comparisons that I kind of have heard this week that I agree with. Shane Stiken liked the Zack Moss comparison. That year that Zach Moss was RB2 was he was fantastic. He was fantastic and he got paid with Cincinnati.
That didn't work out unfortunately for him. But Zack Moss was a really interesting guy before he got hurt late in that season. People forget um late in that season, but you know, you've been you've been searching for that RB2. Zack Moss comparison got thrown out. Jonathan Taylor compared Seth McGawan to David Montgomery cuz David McGomery gets this reputation of a power back, but he's got moves. David Montgomery's been a stud.
That two back situation with Detroit has been flawless. Flawless over there. And you teams are better when they have two backs that can tote the rock. Ken Walker, Zack Charbanet. Okay, Seattle says see a Ken Walker Super Bowl MVP. They got Zack Charbanet and Jadarian Price.
Okay, so teams tend to do better when they got that too. Even Bejan Robinson subbed out and Tyler Algier is perfect backup there in Atlanta. So um and then the third comparison when it comes to Seth McGawan is Isaiah Pacheco. the way he is mad at the ground when he runs. I have been so impressed with Seth McGawan. He's been extremely coachable.
He's been getting work in with the ones only because look, early on in training camp, you got to save Jonathan Taylor's legs. He's been through this. He doesn't need every single rep. JT is JT. He's an absolute stud. Okay.
But Seth McGowan, to bring this to a point, Will, has been really impressing me. They liked what they saw out of Kentucky. took a flyer on him in the seventh round paying huge dividends and and and we'll get to the co other Colts rookies. Actually, I'm just going to go there if that's okay with you. Yeah, I was going to say one thing too about Seth McGowan. Yeah, please.
I don't know if a lot of people know this, so I want to give a little backtory to this. Do it. In 2020, Seth McGowan was on the Oklahoma Sooners and he was the third string running back. Didn't get a lot of reps. However, that RB1 dom was Rod Andre Stevenson. Oh.
And so now seeing his projection with the Patriots and now on to his NFL career, I think that was actually a really good mentorship for Seth McGown. So didn't get a lot of reps at Oklahoma 2025, goes to Oklahoma or goes to Kentucky, excuse me, for 725 yards, 12 touchdowns, and then had a few receptions too for 126 yards. I think he could be a really sneaky good guy. And so I'm I'm very happy that you said that. Yeah. And I'm not saying DJ that the book is written on DJ Giddens, okay?
Like I think he's he's got some spunk to him as well. But you ask me who's sticking out. Seth McGowan is sticking out. I want to keep going on these Colts rookies because defensively primarily they are playing. I mean they're getting first team reps and CJ Allen was the second round pick. So everyone's eyes are on him.
He was only on the pup list for two practices. Got activated off. He said look this injury wasn't that big a deal. Abundance of caution. him and Bryce Bcher, the fourth round out of Oregon linebacker, have been getting reps with the first team, and I liked them actually out there together. Uh Austin Dej's rotated and they have about six linebackers rotated in.
That's one of the position battles that's really interesting. I'd say the three top position battles that you should be keeping your eyes on as a as fans is that linebacker position because in the departure of Zire Franklin, you need a leader. You need a quarterback of that defense. Interesting too. Louis Anarumo has been putting the headset in Cam Binham's helmet. I've never really seen that.
He said he did that in Cincinnati as well. Nothing against CJ Allen at all, but Cam Binham's a a veteran. He can play sub linebacker, too. Yeah. And so, like, I kind of like that. Takes one thing off CJ Allen's plate, just go play play fast.
Yeah. Um but Bryce Bcher has been flashing. He's quick. He's been getting to the quarterback. Um I'd say the D line is actually doing better than we thought. That's a position group that has to be good this season.
Jaylen Tum Tuimo, excuse me. Um, you know, Kobby Wooden's a guy that Louis Rumo is really excited about. Okay. Deorest Buckner's only been in team periods once. He's coming back from that neck injury. He's working himself back in.
Grover Stewart, Latu Lu. But, uh, Bryce Bcher, the rookiey's really been impressing me. AJ Holy getting a ton of reps, that first team safety. Um, that the secondary is deep. I mean, you got Sauce Gardner, Traverus Ward, uh Justin Wallally, okay, Hunter Waller, who had a season ending injury last year. So did Justin Wallally.
They're back in action. Um you know who's going to fill in for Kenny Moore. That's Justin Wallally for sure. But AJ Huly, Jonathan Owens, okay, Taylor Britt back there, Mai Blackman, like deep position group doing well. Secondaries kind of won in my opinion. um jumped off the page to me.
But uh to put a bow on this, Bryce Bcher, CJ Allen, AJ Holly, okay, second, third, fourth round picks right there. All getting significant tick. All seeming to do very well here early on in training camp. So, I wanted to give a shout out to those rookies. Haven't seen a ton from Dion Burks. I know a lot of you are like, "Oh, I want him to be the wide receiver three."
Seventh round pick. He had his best day of camp on Tuesday this week. Couple catches, but still getting the mental part of the game down. kind of had a false start, alignment problems, Shane Stockkins in his face. This is what you got to work through as a rookie. Okay, so um I haven't seen a ton of Kaden Curry.
I know a lot of you are like, "Where's Kaden Curry? Why are you ignoring Kaden Curry?" He's just not jumping off the page to me. It's a deep position group. So don't don't be discouraged, but haven't seen a ton of the young man uh quite yet. But you you went heavy defense in the draft, Will, and those guys as of now.
Now, does it translate when you play the Ravens and the Chiefs and the Commanders and and the Texans? We'll see. But they've been getting serious playing time and uh that's that's a positive sign in my opinion. I love that. You also mentioned talking about Deion Burks. I do want to point out the fact that him and Josh are both 5'9.
So, it is really hard to have two 5'9 receivers on the field at the same time. However, I am interested in that wide receiver three argument that we have. You have a guy like Ashton Doulan. You have Deion Burks, the rookie. I'm actually really interested in the Indiana alum Nick Westbrook Akiny. Yeah, he's been a kind of a sneaky acquisition.
Was really he was good for a few years in Tennessee. He absolutely was undrafted. People forget. How do you see him fitting into this Colt scheme? He's had a good camp. Nick Westbrook Ain's had a really good camp.
He's been flashing. Um he's been getting reps with the first team, second team, third team. Okay, before I get to this wide receiver 3 conversation, you know, this Alec Pierce absence is longer than we anticipated. Okay, you paid him in the offseason. He has the ankle surgery cleanup. Says he's fine, but we're going on two weeks of training camp and we have not seen Alec Pierce.
This is getting to a situation where if this persists, are we talking about missing week one, week two? Because that changes the complexion of this these Colts pass catchers a lot. Okay. If teams only have to key in on Josh DS and Tyler Warren, you're going to struggle. You are you're going to struggle. Okay.
Alec Pierce, I mean, with the departure of Michael Pitman Jr. , which we didn't we thought it was time. We didn't think it was a huge deal. I'm a huge Michael Pitman Jr. fan. Was he worth wide receiver one more money?
Absolutely not. You you you deem that Alec Pierce is. Okay. But he's not out at training camp. Does he need training camp? Like, no, not really.
Okay, I understand that. But he does need a week or two getting in game shape. Oh, absolutely. 100%. So that's really interesting because Josh DS, as much as I love him, Josh DS is the man. Okay, I think he's in a thousand yard receiver this season, but he's not a wide receiver one.
Okay, that that's nothing. He's not AJ Brown, Justin Jefferson, Jamar Chase. Neither is Alec Pierce. Okay, but like it's it's the whole is greater than the sum of its parts situation. When you get Pierce downs Warren al together that's wonderful. Without Pierce it just changes this completely because then to your question in that wide receiver three situation you get the Ashton Doulan Nick Westbrook Aeen Laquan Treadwell maybe Dion Burks mixing in.
If those guys are getting significant playing time I'm a little worried. Yeah. Leader in the clubhouse in my opinion Ashton Doulan because he's been there done that but he's your best special teams player. Okay, bar none. That's why he's been in the league that this long. That's why he's been on the Colts this long as far as pass catching ability and like maybe a little more dynamic.
Nick Westbrook A has been great. He has been catching every single ball thrown at him. He's been making the most of his opportunities down the field primarily. I've really liked what I've seen from him from him. Jim Bobcer, Colts offensive coordinator and Shane Stiken, Colts head coach. Both very complimentary of Nick Westber Aeen.
He has jumped off the page to me as the wide receiver three best option. But I got I got to keep coming back to this Alec Pierce thing like he's got to be on the field because if this turns into a week one week two absence I'm worried a little bit because look you you got Jonathan Taylor but if they only have to focus on DS and Warren it's a pretty easy matchup. Yeah that that your two best defenders are on them. And here's the thing too we talked about this last year with Michael Pitman Jr. being that surefire down that really easy quick 8 yard 9 yard reception that's how you could get to Alec Pierce's deep ball and now if you talk about pulling not only Alec Pierce for whatever game one game two you don't have Pitman anymore so you're losing that surefire short down that's not going to set up the long ball and then you're not going to have a long ball threat to throw to I love Josh DS I love what he can do fast quick not the tallest receiver in the world at 5'9 he's really good off slants he's really good in the middle you don't really have that deep ball threat.
Can Tyler Warren be that? I don't know. If you match up a safety, if you put up a corner against him, I don't really know if he has the speed to get there. And you mentioned Nick Westbrook A. Love him. In Tennessee in 2024, only 32 receptions.
However, nine of those receptions for a touchdown. So, really good in the red zone. Is he a guy that's going to get you 50, 60, 70 yards a game? Absolutely not. No. And so when you lose the depth of Pierce, you're looking at the uh passing game a whole lot more and being a little bit more concerned about it, too.
Yeah, we were talking to John Davis about this and he made a really good point. I mean, the the mix of Pitman, Downs, Warren freed up Alec Pierce down the field. Okay. But Downs and Warren kind of same where they catch the ball is kind of the same. It is. You know, eight to 10 yards, they can do a bunch after the catch.
Josh DS is going to get more work on the outside, but he's 5'9. So, does the height thing really matter? No. But you're going to be going up against big corners. Okay. They're all going to be taller than you.
They're all going to be taller than you. They're all going to jam you off the line of scrimmage. I think Josh Downs can do it, but you need to get work with Alec Pierce on the field so you know what this route tree for each receiver looks like and like where they are. They can maximize their particular skill set catching the football. And not only that too, Dom, Daniel Jones and Alec Pierce haven't played with each other, both healthy. They're both coming off injuries.
And so obviously neither of those are going to affect one another, but you have Daniel Jones with less mobility. I want to argue that Alec Pierce's best threat is his deep ball. And with the deep ball means you got to be off the line fast. I'm interested to see if that ankle limits his speed at all. Because if you can't get past your defender, Daniel Jones is going to have a little bit more time in the pocket. And what happens when you have more time in the pocket?
it's going to start collapsing which means Mr. Jones has to be mobile and so I don't love the projection that I'm seeing if my wide receiver one and QB1 are both healthy um coming off bigger injuries like that. And so it will be definitely interesting to watch the rest of the training camp and see if he gets any reps if we go into preseason. Is he playing a lot? Um because like you said, if he's out week one, week two, then things start getting sticky. Now, now I'll say this, Daniel Jones and Alec Pierce have the best chemistry.
Oh, absolutely. On the team. So does Alec Pearson need the early days of camp? No. Does he need a week or two of ramp up to get ready? Yes, absolutely.
I do want to talk about uh Daniel Jones to put a bow on Colts training camp. He looks like he wasn't injured. And I credit to him. I mean, I will say the right leg is skinnier than the left leg. That's the only like negative quote unquote I have is that okay, unscheduled movements, you know, if Miles Gar Garrett is coming down on you, like are you getting out of the pocket or are you just going down? Does that affect his mobility?
You know, Shane Stiken and Stephen Holder and I were talking about this like if Shane Stiken Shane Stiken scripts out of pocket stuff because Daniel Jones is sneaky, very mobile. There's no question about it and it's part of his game. But his most impressive day of camp was Tuesday. Um he threw the ball downfield exceptionally well in the final 11 on 11 team period. He was five of five. He was the the accuracy was so impressive.
ball placement specialist. That's what Daniel Jones has to be to be successful. He put one only where Tyler Warren could get it. Tyler Warren has been fantastic in camp. I mean, just going up and getting balls, catching everything thrown at him. Um, he had one deep across the middle to Will Mallerie.
Had a deep ball to Ashton Doulan. The accuracy from Daniel Jones is there. Were there some sacks? Cuz you can't get a um very good sense of like they let the play continue. Yeah. if if if you if someone gets home and they're not getting hit either.
They're not getting hit. So like, okay, gamelike situation. Do those plays even happen or is it blown dead because of a sack? Who's to say? I What I'm telling you though is very positive progression with Daniel Jones because like he has to be healthy. I' I've been on this podcast saying I don't think he can make it 17 games.
I want him to prove me wrong. Like play 17 game season, but like Daniel Jones, we can't hide from the fact he's had injuries before and he hasn't played a full season very often. Okay? So, I think Daniel Jones picking up right where he left off. You paid him like a top QB in this league. He has to be for you to be at all successful this season.
But I want you to hear me that say this, Daniel Jones looks healthy. He is progressing every day. He has total command of this offense. And I think that's always been the thing with the Colts is like the first team is good. It's always the depth piece and then like battle of attrition, like who's getting hurt. You know, the Colts have never gone a full season without some sort of injury happening.
Steven Holder and I talked about it on the podcast. If all the answers to these questions we have are positive, things are going to be fine with the Colts. But has that ever happened? Not really. Injuries are something that happens in the NFL. You got to be prepared for when they come.
And uh that's why the backup QB battle is also very interesting. Well, it is. Yes. And so that was going to be my next question for you. Actually, I've seen a lot on Anthony Richson. Not as much on Riley Leonard.
It seems like the fans, man, are still hoping that AR5 can be there being at camp, being in the presence of all of them. Talking to the coaches, what do you see? And who do you think is more fit for the QB2 spot? Okay, it's early. There is a serious drop off between the first team and the second and third teams as far as command of the offense. When Daniel Jones is in there, balls aren't touching the ground.
Okay. When Anthony Richardson and Riley Leonard are in there, it just feels like either the snaps are going ary, there's a lot more incompletions. They've both had moments like AR will have throws that you're like, "Okay, here it is." Like he'll hit someone 20 yards down the field in stride. He'll have a 50-yard bomb, okay, to uh a 13 receiver, I can't think of right now, for a touchdown that you're like, "Oh my gosh." Like, there it is.
That's what it is. But it's the little stuff. He's hanging on to the ball too long in the pocket. he's tucking it and running when he doesn't need to. Um, those things are still a concern when it comes to Anthony Richardson. Riley Leonard feels a little panicky back there a little bit at times.
He had a 50-yard deep bomb to Nick Westbrook Aeen in the indoor practice last week. They have their moments. It's still even as can be when it comes to the, you know, the advantage goes to Anthony Richardson because it needs to like it's your fourth overall pick for everyone's sake. for everyone's sake, but they haven't exactly impressed me, Will. Um, it is very important that you have faith in your backup quarterback. It really is.
Um, and I I mean, this is AR's time to shine, man. Like, we're talking about Colts right now. They're not going to pick up his fifth year. Like, let's not kid ourselves. And they he wants a trade. He wants to explore trade possibilities.
The best thing for Anthony Richardson. The best thing for the Colts is for him to play a couple games. Obviously, that means Daniel Jones is hurt, which is a bad thing. But if he plays serviceably well, that helps everybody. It helps Anthony Richardson. It helps the trade prospects, and it helps this Colts team if they if they win a game or two when Daniel Jones is not in the game.
So, um, I'm not impressed particularly, but, uh, we'll see what the rest of camp tells us, and I think that's going to be a late decision on who the QB2 is. All right, so that's Colts training camp talk. Again, follow Get In Sports, follow at Dom Miranda TV for all your Colts training camp coverage. Again, like I I know a lot of you are like, "Oh man, Dom was so negative about this Colts team going into the season." I'm just trying to be realistic, okay? The the the the recent history hasn't proved to us that this Colts team can elevate beyond 8 to nine wins.
All right? I'm just telling you, we want that to be not true. Last thing I'll say, Carly Ers Gordon's comments, she basically said, "The standard is the standard." Chris Ballad and Shane Styen know what they have to do and if that is not completed, they know what fate lies before them. She expects she says this roster is capable of making the playoffs and advancing. That's essentially what she said.
This roster is good enough. So, this team has been assembled. If that is not the case, Chris Ballard, Shane Styen, time to hit the road. That's without saying it. That's exactly what she said. So, you know, that is what it is.
She also said, nothing against Grand Park, just wanted to keep the guys home as far as training camp goes. So, Grand Park's been a wonderful thing. But, uh, Carly Gordon, really respect her and what she had to say. Her full comments are on my social media as well if you want to give those a look. But, uh, Carly Gordon, she's the owner. She she knows what she expects and if it isn't done, that's what's going to happen.

You have the right to believe that Josh DS is an a,000yard receiver. Josh DS is going into year four with this Colts team in the NFL. He was oh so close in 2024, only having played 14 games, had 803 yards. Also, didn't get as much action a year ago when you had AD Mitchell, Michael Pitman Jr. , the addition of Tyler Warren. Now is the time for Josh DS.
Okay, you paid Alec Pierce like a number one receiver. He's going to get his. You have Tyler Warren, but gone is Michael Pitman Jr. , gone is AD Mitchell, and then the wide receiver three isn't exactly going to be a receptionheavy player for this Colts team. Josh DS is going into a contract year. Whether it's with the Colts or whether it's with someone else, he has the motivation to have his biggest year yet in a Colts jersey.
I think 100% this guy can get a thousand yards. He's going to be more active in the red zone. I am a Josh DS believer. He is one of the most talented players on the football field for the Indianapolis Colts in this offense. You have the right to believe Josh DS is an a thousand yard receiver this season. The name of the game with Josh Downs is run after catch.
Like you said, he's not going to have a game where he has nine 10 receptions, but looking at his career stats, Dom, he averages almost 11 yards per reception. So that's going to be really good in the intermediate game. I love Josh Downs on slants, on insides. If Daniel Jones can get him the ball and we get some downfield blockers, I think that this is Josh DS's best chance to have a thousand yards this year. You have the right to believe that the Indiana Fever can win a WNBA championship this season. We had a lot of question marks about this team.
Okay, we had a lot of question marks about the turnovers, the defense, can this offense just outscore everybody before the All-Star break and certainly after the All-Star break. This team has turned it to another gear. Kelsey Mitchell is an MVP candidate. Caitlyn Clark is the generational talent playing like it right now that we all knew that she was. And Aaliyah Boston is absolutely fantastic in the painted area. They've won seven of nine.
Yes, they lost to the Minnesota Links, but that was a playoff type atmosphere. 108 to 100. They got the Aces coming up. That's going to be a massive game at home. Do you think that environment is going to be a playoff environment? 100%.
This team can score with anybody. One, two, three, four, five, six straight games over a 100red points. This offense is clicking. They have the best back They have the best back court in the WNBA with Kelsey Mitchell and Caitlyn Clark, both MVP candidates. I am sold. This team's playing its best basketball at the right time.
You have the right to believe that the Beaver can win a WNBA title this season. Kelsey Mitchell is absolutely on fire. We talked about that Lynx game where she had 37 points. I mean, she is just unreal. just recently passed for the sixth all time in three-point makes all across the W in history. Um, we talk about games that they need to win.
They've destroyed the aces in the past. As Dom said, the Minnesota Links guys have lost six games this year. That's a really, really good team. Courtney Williams at 27, Olivia Miles at 28. I think in a series where we get some [clears throat] games back at home, we get that fever crowd involved, I think we have the best chance that we've had in a long time to be a Finals champion. Absolutely, 100%.
All right, last Miranda rightites here. You have the right to believe that Indiana football has a followup act in them as the defending national champion. Everybody doubted this team last the first year of Kurt Signetti. They said this guy's just talking talking out of as you know what 11-2 made the college football playoff. The year the year following that 11-2 season. There's no way this team can follow it up.
There's no way. It was it was a blip on the radar. There's there's just no way that Indiana football can get this done. try 16-0 national champions. Went to Oregon, one, went to Iowa, won, went to Penn State and won, beat the absolute dog, you know what, out of Alabama in the Rose Bowl, beat Oregon senseless in the Peach Bowl, and beat Miami in the national championship. Now, I'm hearing the doubters.
I'm hearing the doubters yet again with this Indiana football team. The schedule shapes up nicely. They have Ohio State at home, obviously. At Michigan's going to be tough, at Nebraska is going to be tough. at Washington's going to be tough. But this Indiana football team, you have the right to believe that they're going to make the college football playoff.
They're going to make the Big 10 championship and they are going to be contenders yet again for a national championship. Josh Hoover, let's see what the young man can do at QB. Everyone had their doubts about Fernando Mendoza and he was the number one pick. I'm not expecting Josh Hoover to be Fernando Mendoza, but I expect this defense to be one of the best in the country. The talent on this roster has elevated. Stephen Daly is back for a fifth year.
You have the right to believe that Indiana football is a follow-up act in them. Kurt Signnitti is an absolute genius when it comes to schemes. The two games that we've always talked about Ohio State. I actually like our chances against Ohio State. Yes, it's going to be a close game. We've played them in the past.
Big 10 championship throughout the regular season. It's always a close game there. That could go either way. We talk about the game at Michigan. IU knows how to play in tough environments. We go back to the Penn State game at Penn State.
Very close game. Came out with the win. Dom, we also talk about the national championship game. Miami at Miami, though it was a neutral sight game, basically a away game for them in the championship, came out with a big win, too. IU has the chance to do it. I think that they will do it and we will see them back in the college football playoffs.
