Football is here. High school, college, pro, it's all happening. This is going to be our favorite time of year. You think we're on a rocket ship right now growing here and get in sports. Football season's here and we're going to see some serious growth. We appreciate you being on this journey with us.
It's going to be all sorts of fun. You listen to our interview with James Boyd of the Athletic. He covers the Indianapolis Colts on Friday. Here we're going to be it's just a little bit of a variety show talking about the biggest headlines. There's a lot going on. So, we're going to split up interviews and sports talk, football talk, kind of a Monday, Friday bookend of the week.

The best recruit the Hooers have ever gotten. He's coming to Bloomington for the defending national champion Hooers. This marks kind of a trend or kind of a flipping of the script. Will the Hooers won a national championship with a bunch of three stars and transfers. Now we're getting five stars. best recruit in Indiana.
Could have gone to LSU, could have gone to Texas, could have gone anywhere he wanted, could have gone to Alabama, chose to stay home with the Hooers. If that's not proof of concept of what IU is doing, I don't know what is. Yeah. If uh Kirk can cook with three stars, just wait until he gets his hand on all these fivestar recruits. Manin is just going to be the start of what I would assume is a landslide of highly rated recruits that have only gone to kind of out of state schools as IU and Purdue have not necessarily been the best in college football. But now that IU is there, you're going to see a lot more of a trend that Munchin's going to start.
Yeah, it's going to be awesome. And he I mean 65 runs at 4440 I think 10800 21109 200. This dude flies. And he almost had 1,000 yards receiving last year for the Wildcats. 5, excuse me, 794 yards receiving, nine touchdowns. He's going to go over a thousand this year.
If you're not throwing to him every time, I don't know what you're doing really, but those Lawrence North games are fun. They're going to be even more fun watching the top ranked recruit. We also put out a video on the top five high school football recruits in Indiana ahead of this high school football season. Training camp's going to be here before you know it, Will. All right, speaking of, let's talk about the Indianapolis Colts. I've been putting this off because I'm going to say I don't know if you're going to like what I have to say about the Indianapolis Colts, but Will, we got to predict how we think the Colts are going to do this.
The Colts season prediction for 2026, 2027. How are we going to be, Dom, we start at home against the Ravens. How do you feel? I It's just a loss. I don't know what else to say. You got Lamar Jackson coming in now.
at home. Lucas Oil is going to be charged up. I don't know how he escaped out of there with a win. Now, Shane Stikkins first season, the Colts went to Baltimore and won when they shouldn't have with Garner Mchu under center. It was a rainy game if memory serves. So, can they do it?
Yes. First year head coach for the Ravens, him and Lamar. Do they jive well? Is it going to go well? I don't know. I'm going to have to say it's a loss, though.
So, we start 0 and1. We move to week two at Kansas City. All right. But we're going to be there because it's a Sunday night football game on NBC. So, WTHR will be there. Unfortunately, going to witness a loss.
Now, is Patrick Mahomes fully healthy? Does he play? I don't know. You could say the same thing about Daniel Jones. Is he fully healthy? I don't know.
But I have to say the Colts start 0 and2. 0 and2 we go to week three at home against the Texans. How do you feel? Okay. I do feel like the Colts will split with the Texans this season. Everything in me is saying lost.
But did the Colts start 0 and3? I don't think so. We're going to give them a win here. One and two. Again, against the Commanders. Okay, so this one's actually in London.
This is the London game, which the Colts won against uh that was in Germany, but their overseas game won against the Falcons last year. Do they have what it takes to beat Jaden Daniels? I mean, there's a lot of good quarterbacks you're playing, especially early in the season. You're going to have a lot of rookies on defense. I think it's a loss. There we go.
Okay, so one and three heading into week five. We are at the Steelers. I just don't think you're winning at Pittsburgh. I think there's some sort of stat. The Colts haven't won there in a long, long time. Not as bad as Jacksonville, but we're we're sensing a trend here, Will.
I think it's another L. One and four, week six against the Titans at home. All right, this one's at home. You got to win this one or I think heads are going to start the roll. Colts get a dub, their second divisional win. There's win number two.
two and four heading into week seven at the Vikings. Again, at Minnesota, now they have a lot of question marks. Is JJ McCarthy good? Is Kyler Murray going to start for the Vikings? That is an extremely difficult place to play. One of the more unique home field advantages there in Minneapolis.
I think it's a loss. Two and five. And then we go to Jacksonville in week eight. You haven't won in Jacksonville since 2014, I believe. You have to prove to me you could do it. That is a loss until proven otherwise.
Now we go to week nine where we are back home against the Cowboys. How do you feel? Again, I mean, these quarterbacks are just too good. I I don't understand how you can sit here and say, are the Colts going to outscore everybody? Are they going to beat some teams they shouldn't? Tell me why I should feel optimistic about this team.
I don't really know. Do you have what it takes to beat Dak Prescott and CD Lamb and that talented Dallas Cowboys team who started to figure it out towards the end of last season? I know this one's at home, but it's a loss. So, a projected two and seven record heading into week 10 back home against the Dolphins. All right, this is a win. Dolphins are not very good.
All right, got a new head coach. Don't really know what's going on. Quarterback there, Malik Willis. Yes. So, I think that's a win. That's a win right there.
How about that? Three and seven heading into week 11 where we at the Texans. Thursday night game. I said they would split with the Texans. This is the one they lose on the road. That's a loss.
3-8 going back home against the Giants in week 12. So, how do we feel about John Harbaugh le New York Giants team? Does this work right away with Jackson Dart? Scataboo is back. Malik Neighbors is an absolute stud. I'm going to give the Colts a win here at home ahead of the bye-week.
So, four and eight heading into the buy. Week 14 after the buy. We are at the Eagles. Okay, so this is where 4-8 at the bye-week. Is everyone still employed for the Colts? Great question.
We don't know. So, that could absolutely play uh some tricks here on how the the vibe of this team, the mindset of this team is doesn't really matter. You're going to Philly. I don't think you're coming out of there with a win. That's a loss. 4-9.
Yeah. 4-9. Week 15 at the Titans. All right. You're beating Tennessee on the road. Good vibes.
You're going to sweep Tennessee. Hang the banner. Week 16 at home against the Bengals. Okay. This is a potential flex game and it's not going to be on national TV. Hate to be a spoiler, but it's just not going to.
home against Cincinnati. Is Joe Burrow healthy? We'll assume he is. And if he is, you're not winning that game. We are now five and 10 projected going into week 18 at Cleveland. I think the vibes are pretty low at this point.
If the Colts are 5-10 and you're on the road, a cold and snowy or rainy or sleet covered Cleveland Browns stadium, that's a loss. 5-1 last week, Jags at Lucas Oil. How do we feel? All right, and this is where we have positive vibes to end the season. The Colts beat the Jaguars at home to end the season and their season ends at 6 and 11. And I imagine a lot of changes will happen.
I am in total agreeance with that. And now we are going to transition Dom. 6 and 11. Man, that's depressing. Yeah, man. And that's I mean, but are there any I mean, I feel like I'm generous giving them a split against Houston.
Yeah. You're sweeping Tennessee. Second year with Cam Ward. You got Robert Salah as the head coach. You got Dable as the OC. So, I mean, like I feel like I'm being optimistic.
I gave you a win against the Giants. Mhm. But are you beating Dallas? Are you beating Philly, Cincy, Cleveland, Washington, Kansas City, Baltimore? I just I don't think so. Maybe you win in Jacksonville for the first time in forever.
Maybe. Let's hope. Maybe you beat Minnesota and JJ McCarthy is not that good. I don't Maybe. But say I give you two more wins. You're eight and nine still.
So, I just don't think I just don't think that's happening. I don't think so either. And that, Don, leads me into some of the biggest questions that I have for you to answer for the Colts season. So, here are the top six biggest questions that I have as a Colts fan heading into the next year. Can Latu Latu take the next step? He has to, I think.
All right. First defensive player taken off the board in the 2024 NFL draft. He's been close, right? That's the biggest thing with him. He's getting QB hurries. He's not finishing with sacks.
And he's talked about this. I like Latu Lu. I think he's quick. He's agile. He's going to cause ruckus off the edge, but we need a guy who's 10 plus sacks if you're going to be a firstround draft pick, edge player for the Colts. He had 8 and a half sacks a year ago.
Can that be 10, 11, 12 or more? I say yes. I think he can make a jump. Now, is that the difference between wins and losses on this team? Is he going to be a game wrecker? I don't know.
But as far as more improvement, I think Latu Latu can do it. Number two, Alec Pierce over the offseason got paid like a number one receiver. Had ankle surgery. Dom, do you think he's ready? And do you think he can be a number one receiver? Okay, I do think he'll be ready.
It was a bit of a cleanup with the ankle there. Kind of late in the offseason, so it's like, okay, what are we doing? I think he's going to be ready for the season. Had over 1,000 yards for the first time in his career. 1,000 yards, six touchdowns. Kind of showed he could be more than just a deep threat.
He's got great hands. He capitalizes on his opportunities, had the most receptions in his career a year ago at 47. So, can he be a thousand plus yard receiver, more volume? It's going to be him, DS, and Tyler Warren. That those are your guys when it comes to Daniel Jones finding those guys. I think he can be a wide receiver one, but what level are we talking here?
I mean, Michael Pitman Jr. was a wide receiver one, but was he on the AJ Brown, Justin Jefferson, Jamar Chase level? Absolutely not. Is Alec Pierce going to be CD Lamb? Probably not. But can he be a solid number one?
He's only proven that he's he's gotten better each year in the NFL. So, who am I to say no? Depends a lot on how this offense looks and Daniel Jones looks. I think Alec Pierce has another jump in him. Okay, number three. Will DeForest Buckner be ready to play?
This one is a humongous question mark. I I I struggle to be able to give you an answer here. It's that neck surgery. I mean, he's not getting any younger. He's the heartbeat of this defense. Him and Grover Stewart there in the middle.
I mean, they cause havoc. They're solid when they're playing, but is he going to be playing? Is he going to be the Deorest Buckner of old? I've learned not to doubt this guy. Love Deorest Buckner, what he brings to the table. But that's no injury to mess with.
I I'm skeptical on how if he's going to be ready, number one, and his level of play, number two, if he is indeed ready. I could see an injury riddled season for Deorest Buckner. That hurts me. I I don't want to see it. I want him to be ready. I'm nervous about his production this season.
Let's keep it on talking about our stars and their injuries. Number four, Dom, do you think Daniel Jones can play a 17game season? I just don't think that's a realistic possibility. We're talking game one, 9 months post Achilles tear. We talked with Steven Holder about it. He's probably not going to play much in the preseason.
He hasn't had a lot of practice on those unscheduled movements. Can you drop back and pass? Can you roll out when you're planning to do so? Yes. But if Miles Garrett is chasing you and you got to jerk and try to get out of trouble, is everything going to be okay? Do I think he's going to play and be all right?
Yes. Do I think he's going to play 17 games? I think that's asking a lot out of a guy who just came back from an Achilles tear. Number five, Jonathan Taylor. Do you think he can keep it up? And on that same track, does he get a new contract with the Colts?
Well, he certainly deserves a new contract with the Colts. is by far their best player and has answered the bell season after season after season. He was in the MVP conversation a season ago when the Colts were 8-1, 8-2 middle way of that season. Now, when the Colts got behind, the game script changes and he's not getting as many touches down the stretch late in these games. I think that's why running backs you're not seeing going to get MVP cuz can they actually carry you when you need it the most? It's why it's kind of turned into a quarterback award.
He deserves a new contract. Do the Colts trust Chris Ballard to give him a new contract? Because his job's on the line right now. He's going into a contract year. He certainly deserves it. I think he gets it.
With the usage of Jonathan Taylor, can he keep up these historic numbers? I say he can, but who's to say it won't catch up with him at some point? I have faith in JT. Last one I have for you. The Colts defense with a lot of rookies on this team, a lot of tough scheduling matchups early in the year. What do you think this defense is going to do?
Okay, so you drafted one, two, three, four, five defensive players in this last NFL draft. A lot of them are going to get significant playing time for you. Nick Cross out the door. Kenny Moore out the door. Zire Franklin out the door. So, particularly in this secondary, you're going to have a lot of guys playing.
You need CJ Allen to come in and possibly fill in for Zier Franklin. Can he do it? AJ Hulsey coming in replacing Nick Cross. Can he? You have leadership, right? You have Ken Binham, you have Sauce Gardner.
So that's good back in that secondary, but two consequential position positions on that defense. Linebacker, safety, CJ Allen, AJ Hulsey. Can they do it? Not to mention, you got Kaden Curry coming into the fold. Can Latu Latu make that next step? I mean, that's kind of a different conversation we already talked about, but lot of rookies on this defense.
And let's talk again about this schedule. You got Baltimore, Kansas City, Houston, Washington. Okay, we're talking about Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, CJ Strad, Jaden Daniels out of the gate. Out of the gate. Can they play at an NFL level right away their rookie seasons? I'm skeptical.
We'll see. All right. Like I said, Colts training camp is here. By the time you're listening to this, it's here. I'm going to be out there every single day bringing you all the information that you need as far as Indianapolis Colts football. Optimism reigns supreme in training camp time for NFL football teams.
We'll see if the Colts have something in the tank to save people's jobs, answer all the questions we just talked about, and have a successful season here in Indianapolis. One that fans have longed for for a very, very long time. But what else is happening? High school football is coming fast and furious. We got a lot to talk about there as well. Will Duncan joins me once more.
Will, we have some trivia here. Yes, we do. Today we are going to ask Dom can he name the top five high schools that have produced the most Indiana Mr. Footballs of all time. Okay, so these schools have produced the best football talent, you know, dating back to forever. Correct.
In the state of Indiana. Okay. Well, this is a great question. I'm going to go Chitaard. First guess. Chitard is not on here.
No. Surprising. Second guess. Cathedral. Cathedral is on here. They are tied for second with only two.
So only two schools. Only two schools have three. There are five schools that have two and Cathedral is one of those. In 2000, All right, we're naming all seven again. Yes, we are. In 2000, it was Otis Shannon who went to Harper College.
And then in 2013, one of the most notable names on here, Mr. Terry McLaren. Terry McLuren. Yes. Stud. Absolute stud.
Only two for Cathedral. That's crazy. And the most a school has had is only three. There's only three. There are two schools with three. A lot of parody in football as well, just like basketball.
That's really, really interesting. Okay, how about Ben Davis? Ben Davis is tied for number one with three 2001, 2017, and 2024. They had James Bank, who went to Tennessee, Carson Newman. They had Reese Taylor, a quarterback that went to IU, and Mark Zachary. Mark Zachary.
My guy, that guy is a stud. He'll He'll get it. He's PT at Notre Dame. Yes, he will. Uh, okay. Love that.
Ben Davis, Cathedral, No Shitard. Very shocking, but that's okay. Um, how about We're going to go with Center Grove. Center Grove is also not on here. Isn't that surprising? That's more recent success, I guess.
So, that I guess checks out. Reese Taylor, too. That's an interesting name, by the way. Earlier, um, how about Fort Wayne? No Fort Wayne schools. No Fort Wayne schools.
He's shaking his head at me. No Wayne schools. What? You have number one with three left and then you have one, two, three, four more high schools with two. How about Penn High School? No pen.
Think around the same idea as Ben Davis and one of these schools is also the three. Same. How about Avon? No. Avon, but you're getting close. How about give me a Brownsburg?
No. Mm- Same. You're You're very warm. You're right around that same region. We're warmish. Uh, let me give you the years for this school because this will help you a lot.

What class? This will help me. Any schools like Columbus East. Columbus East is correct. They have two in 2011 and 2014. Uh Gunnar Ke was he one of Gunner Keel was one of them.
Yes. From Notre Dame and then transferred to Cincinnati. The other guy was I thought he was going to be unbelievable by the way, but he wasn't. Didn't we all? And then Markeel Jones was a running back that went to Purdue. Okay.

Actually, I don't I forget his name, but I remember he was a stud. Uh, honestly, this is really funny. Shout out East Central. Two running backs with the first name Josh. You have Josh uh Martini, I think is how you say it, from 1994. And Josh Ringer, who is now at Miami, Ohio.

Martinsville is correct with the Artisians. They went back to back in 1995 and 1996. They had Earl Henny Ford that was a quarterback and then went to IU and Israel Thompson was a running back that went to Ball State. This is going to be a great video. I already know it. 1995 1996.

You're thinking too You're thinking too deep. If you literally just think of like which schools are good at football objectively in Indianapolis, I'm Arsenal Tech. Not Arsenal Tech. No. Downtown Indianapolis 6A school. Am I Am I an idiot?
It's like 15 minutes east of downtown Indianapolis. Not as far east as like New Pal. Kind of in the middle between Indianapolis, New Pow. A little bit more south of like Lawrence. They're in Ben Davis's little Okay. A little south of Lawrence.
Mhm. Um what is happening right now? I've named Westfield, Carmel, Ben Davis, Brownsburg, Avon, Center Grove. I mean, these are the teams. Uh HSC Fers. I think I think I kind of have a hint that won't throw it at you, but it's a decent of hint.
You might have to throw it at me. I don't know. Think of Mount Vernon's colors and these match the school. Okay, I like what you're doing here. Trying I'm hoping you can try to envision a jersey. Oh my goodness.
He's got it. This is embarrassing. Let's hear it. This is embarrassing. And I apologize. You make me look better when I say like don't don't make me struggle with this one.
Warren Central. Warren Central is the one that we were struggling on. Yeah. I I mean that just I just completely spaced it. 2003 and then back to back in ' 05 and ' 06. They had Desmond Tardy who was a quarterback that went to Purdue.
They had another quarterback Dexter Taylor who went to all over the place. Four colleges in four years. He won. And then the next year Darren Evans from Virginia Tech actually made it to the NFL and played for the Colts for a little bit. Warren Central. Warren Central.
Place near and dear to my heart. Talk about some serious history. Going all the way. That's on me. Unbelievable. Yep.
All the way through. We got Ben Davis and War Central with three and then the five schools with two. Columbus East, Cathedral, Bloomington South, Martinsville, and East Central High School. That's a really good mix of the threes, isn't it? Uh, I should have named Warren Central immediately after that. I was trying I was trying to give you everything.
I was trying to give you everything. Oh my goodness. That's I was thinking too downtown. That's what I was And I was saying you were thinking too Sorry, that was way too deep. Okay, that's a really good list though. Yes, it is.
All right, let's move on. Now, we are going to transition kind of on the same thing but a little bit different. We are going to see if Dom can name the top five Indianapolis high school football recruits of all time based on 247 sports rankings. The best five football players from Indiana according to 247. Yes. Okay.
It is all time, but I will say the the furthest back is only 2002. So, all these guys are pretty recent. All of it's all post 2000, correct? Yep. Okay. Wow.
I'll post. Okay. Uh Will prepped me and said, "This might be a little difficult." It is. So, I I think I watch football a decent amount, and I only know about one of these names. You guys can come at me if I don't know these guys, but you heard him.
Uh, all right. We're going to go Jaylen Smith. Jaylen Smith off the rip is number one with a fivestar rating. Yep. N991. He was unreal.

That is actually pretty helpful. Um Ben Davis is It's not Ree Taylor. It is not Reese Taylor. Um okay. I don't know why I said like that. It's not him though.

Sure. Okay. So number two went to Tennessee. Number three was also another Notre Dame product and number five went to Clemson. The Tennessee guy was O2. It's not Mark Zachary.
No Mark Zachary. Nope. Uh, is the is the Notre Dame to Ben from Ben Davis? The Notre Dame guy is from Crown Point. So, the guy that went to Tennessee was class of 02. Guy who went to the other guy that went to Notre Dame is class of 06.
And then the Clemson guy is class of 17. What positions Crown Point guy? The Crown Point guy is a running back from ' 06. Really? Yes. Did he play a lot, Dom?
This guy had 255 carries, almost 1,000 yards, and three touchdowns in four years at Notre Dame. Okay. So, didn't play a lot. Not a ton, but that's I mean, that's a solid group. Um Okay. H6.
I was almost 10 in 06. So, Yep. He played from 06 all the way up to 2009, but only got six carries his senior year. Oh. The peak of his career was his sophomore year with 121 carries and about 500 yards. Oh, pretty solid.
Okay. So, like contributed. Yeah. Um I just I'm interested in this one. Give me Give me this one. Just This guy's name is James Aldridge.
James Aldridge. If that rings a bell, it doesn't. He's from Crown Point, class of 06. He was rated a 9873 and committed to Notre Dame. A 6'1, 215 pound running back. Okay.
Yep. There you go. How about that? You were you weren't lying. This list is interesting. It is very interesting.
Okay. So, now we have a Ben Davis. Yep. and a uh who was it? Brownsburg. Ben Davis and a Brownsburg.
All right, give me years on these guys. That might help. Yep. So, the Ben Davis guy was class of 02 and the Brownsburg guy was class of 17. 17. Brownsburg.
Yes. Ben Davis guy went to Tennessee. Yes. And then the Brownsburg guy went to Clemson. Oh. Uh Hunter Johnson.
Hunter Johnson is correct. He was number five. only a four star somehow, but he was a n6 and ended up at Clemson. He was another guy that I think people had really high hopes for, you know, for whatever reason. Sometimes it doesn't work out. So, Hunter Johnson is number five.
You got number two left. And I will say this is probably a bit hard because this man does not even have a picture in his Oh, no. Okay. O2 from Ben Davis went to Tennessee. I'm going to Yeah, I'm just going to have to tap I'm have to do the Anthony Richardson here. What we got?
Uh, James Banks from Ben Davis, class of O2, was actually a dual threat on both offense and defense, played receiver and secondary. Okay. Did Here's a question. Did all these guys win Mr. Indiana football? That's a great question actually, and I will have to do my research on that.
I wonder I have to think that most of them did. If they're the best five Indiana's ever produced, you know what's crazy is Indiana's produced some pretty good players. They're just not, you know, these these these recruiting services, as as very helpful as they are, and I will say they are, they don't always get it right. They don't, you know what I mean? Like, uh, Tyrone Tracy from Decatur Central, what a stud he is. Okay, so I, as I'm continuously doing my research, Jaylen Smith did in fact win.
Yeah, he was a stud. I mean, I'm looking for James Bank. So, he also won in in 01. Okay. Um, James Aldridge I do not see. So, we are two for three right now.
Gunnar Ke won it. Obviously, we mentioned him and then Hunter I don't know if Hunter Johnson did. He did actually. He did. Okay. Yes, Hunter Johnson did.
Yep. Quarterback. So, four for five. Not too bad. Top five highest ranked Indiana recruits of all time in football according to 247 Sports. Okay, that was a fun exercise.
I enjoyed that. So, great top fives. Uh, that's something we like to do here during the summer months. But I gotta tell you, football's coming quickly and we're going to do a lot of fun stuff with Indiana Mr. Football's coming up. I'm going to be at so many high school football games this year.
