I’ve spent a lot of time on Main Street in Goshen, Indiana. My grandparents have owned a store on the main drag for the last 32 years and are still going strong! My first job was helping them out on Saturdays and I loved heading down to Olympia Candy Kitchen for a burger and a green river on my lunch break. Our Easter baskets always had a sweet treat from the candy counter in them. With its vintage charm, cozy booths, and classic soda fountain feel, Olympia isn’t just a place to grab dessert. It’s a longtime local tradition that has been serving up smiles for generations.
A Sweet Piece of Goshen History
Olympia Candy Kitchen has been part of the Goshen community for decades, earning its reputation as a place where time seems to slow down. Long before modern dessert shops and chain restaurants, Olympia became a gathering spot for locals looking for a simple treat and a friendly atmosphere. Over the years, very little has changed — and that’s exactly how people like it. The old-school soda fountain style, familiar menu, and welcoming vibe have helped Olympia remain a constant through generations of change in downtown Goshen.
Ice Cream the Old-Fashioned Way
The real star of the show is the ice cream. Olympia is known for its generous scoops, classic sundaes, creamy milkshakes, and malts. Whether you stick with vanilla and chocolate or branch out into something a little more fun, everything feels familiar in the best way. Their sundaes, piled high with toppings, are especially popular with locals.
More Than Just Dessert
Beyond ice cream, Olympia Candy Kitchen also offers a small menu of diner-style favorites. Light meals and simple comfort food make it easy to stop in for lunch before finishing things off with something sweet. It’s not fancy, which keeps people coming back.
Homemade Candies Made the Traditional Way
One detail that makes Olympia Candy Kitchen truly special is its selection of homemade candies. Made in-house using time-honored techniques, these treats add another layer of nostalgia to every visit. From rich chocolates to classic candy favorites, the candy case is hard to miss and even harder to resist. Many locals make a point to stop in just to grab a box to take home, especially around holidays, but the truth is there’s never a bad time for Olympia candy.
A Must in Downtown Goshen
Whether you’re a lifelong resident or just passing through Elkhart County, the Olympia Candy Kitchen is worth a visit. Come for the ice cream, stay for the nostalgia, and leave with the reminder that some places don’t need to change to stay special.
