A New Landmark in Downtown Crawfordsville
Downtown Crawfordsville gained a bold splash of color in July 2025 with the unveiling of Jenna Morello’s second mural in the city. Located on the south wall of 121 S. Green St., this vibrant artwork pays tribute to local architecture, natural beauty, and Indiana’s state symbols.
Property owner Mike Grant offered his building as the canvas, and the project was brought to life through a collaborative effort led by the city’s director of operations and community development, Brandy Allen.

The Mural’s Elements
Morello worked 12 to 13 hours a day over the course of a week to complete the piece, weaving together imagery that resonates with the community.
Victorian House
A striking Victorian house anchors the mural, nodding to Crawfordsville’s historic neighborhoods and timeless architecture.
Sugar Creek
Flowing water represents Sugar Creek, one of Montgomery County’s most recognizable natural features.
The Indiana Cardinal
A bright red cardinal, Indiana’s state bird, brings energy and movement into the scene.
The Indiana Firefly
Adding a glow of whimsy is the firefly, Indiana’s official state insect. Together, the bird and bug highlight the everyday beauty of the Hoosier outdoors.

The project shows how public art can unite local and regional organizations to enhance downtown spaces.
Why It Matters
Public art is more than decoration, it’s storytelling. Morello’s work captures both the spirit of Crawfordsville and broader Indiana identity. By blending natural and historical references, the mural creates a piece locals can point to with pride while giving visitors a clear sense of place.
Visiting the Mural
You’ll find the mural on the south wall of 121 S. Green St. in downtown Crawfordsville. Pair your visit with a stroll through the nearby “Alley of Seasons,” Morello’s first mural in the city, to see how the two works complement each other.
A Growing Public Art Scene
Together, these murals mark Crawfordsville as a community that invests in public art and local culture. Thanks to collaborations between city leaders, artists, and foundations, the downtown district continues to grow into a space where creativity thrives alongside history.
