Kyle Roy, Anthony Miller and Tom Gastino did not start Golds Sewer Line Indy because they were looking to build another general plumbing company.
They saw an opportunity to specialize.
For nearly a decade, they’ve run Silvers Concrete and Paving, a concrete company they continue to operate building some of the best driveways and patios in Indianapolis.
In the work of digging up and replacing homeowners driveways they were asked “Hey while you’re at it, can you look at my sewer line too?”
Sewer work is one of the most expensive — and unfortunate, things you can do to your home.
They found that homeowners were often receiving sewer recommendations from general plumbing companies, while the actual repair might involve excavation, pipe replacement and equipment those companies did not necessarily operate themselves.
Aiming to solve this problem, they started Golds Sewer Line Indy.
Golds does sewer inspections, repairs and replacements rather than general plumbing. That narrower focus has allowed the team to spend its time working with the types of underground problems that can require both careful diagnosis and significant excavation.
But the technical side of the work is only part of the approach.
When Golds visits a property, the team uses camera equipment to inspect the sewer line and then walks the homeowner through what they are seeing. The goal is to explain the condition of the pipe, what may be causing the problem and what options are available before moving forward with the work.
“A lot of homeowners dealing with a sewer problem don’t really know what they’re looking at or what their options are,” Roy says. “Our job is to show them what we’re seeing, explain what it means and walk them through the different ways we can solve it. We want them to understand why we’re recommending something before they spend the money to fix it.”
That emphasis on explanation has become an important part of the company.
Sewer work can range from a relatively contained repair to replacing a substantial section of line, and the right solution is not necessarily the same for every property. Golds’ approach is to understand the condition first and recommend the work the team believes makes sense for that particular situation.
Customers have responded positively. Reviews frequently mention communication, responsiveness, fair pricing and the time the team takes to explain the work. Several also highlight the care crews take around yards, neighborhoods and existing utilities.
Today, Golds Sewer Line Indy serves homeowners throughout Indianapolis and surrounding communities.
What began as a logical use of existing experience has developed into a business with a clear identity of its own: stay focused on sewer work, understand the problem thoroughly and make sure the homeowner understands it too.
