There is no better way to spend a warm Indiana day than floating down the river.
Franks Paddlesports Livery is the perfect place to help you achieve your fun day on the water, with multiple trip options and canoes, kayaks, or paddle boards. From beginner to expert, they have something for everyone.
Embark On Your Next Adventure
Are you looking for a full day of fun? Check out their White River Playground trip. From Broad Ripple to Riverside, you spend 4 hours paddling 7 miles down the White River. You’ll start at the Indy Art Center and head downriver. Soon, you’ll reach Holliday Park, then on to Rocky Ripple. In Rocky Ripple, you’ll see a small ledge with minor swift water. You get to navigate this ‘rapid’ on your way to Shell Isle. This is where you will want to stop and take in the scenery before you finish your last 4 miles.
New to water sports and just wanna dip your toes in? Try the Where Nature Meets the City trip! It’s perfect for any novice paddler and can be completed in 2 hours. The water is calm and there are plenty of places to stop and take a break. You’ll pass Butler University and see hikers at the Virginia B Fairbanks Art & Nature Park at Newfields. You will struggle to believe you are only a few miles from downtown as you stare up at the Sycamore trees and take in all the beautiful nature surrounding you. You might even catch sight of a beaver, deer, or bald eagle.
Not in for a full trip? No problem. Frank’s also does rentals by the hour.
Paddle Your Way
Frank’s has several options for getting out on the water. They supply two types of canoes: The Prospecteur 16 and the Huron 16. The Prospecteur is perfect for an easy day on the river with stability and good maneuverability. Single and Tandem Kayaks are also available. If you want a little different experience try one of their stand-up paddle boards. All of these are available to rent for day trips or by the hour.
Group Outings
Team bonding, corporate events, bachelor and bachelorette parties. Frank’s has you covered. They offer group discounts and guided tours. Here’s something I’ve never seen before- campfire meals on the river. You’ll stop on your tour and enjoy a meal from two Indianapolis eateries: Yats Cajun Creole and Hanks Brisket. This dinner by the river is sure to be an unforgettable experience for your group.
