Fishers Pickleball is a

Yes. The sport that you may or may not have heard of through someone asking you to play (I’m that guy!)

What is Pickleball?

Imagine a sport that takes the best of badminton, tennis, and ping-pong and puts them in a blender. That is pretty much pickleball.

dThe game involves volleying a small Wiffle Ball-esque plastic ball over a net (2” lower than a tennis net) using flat paddles. The court is about ⅓ the size of a tennis court. Speaking of, it plays most like tennis too.

The majority of players play it in doubles, and this format and a smaller playing area make it a social game.

Simple, right? It turns out this formula makes for an addictively-entertaining game that almost anyone can (and will) fall in love with.

How can I play Pickleball in Fishers?

Fishers Parks has set up a few free public courts.

There’s also a dedicated club in Del Webb’s Britton Falls' 50-and-over community.

If you're looking for a bit more of a challenge, go to Cyntheanne Park. They have special courts for advanced players, thanks to a donation from a local resident. Thanks, Steve Cage!

One of the coolest things about pickleball is that it's a sport for everyone. Age doesn’t play too much of a factor, so it’s a game that bridges the generation gap.

Get started

For general open play, you have a few options. There are others, but this is where the majority of play takes place.

  • Go out and start playing! Bring your friends, family, or even go alone and meet new people who will be more than willing to teach you.

  • Take a class with local pro pickleball instructor Team Witsken. They offer lessons every month for beginner players. Learn more at teamwitsken.com.

I did option 2 — taking their beginner class 2 years ago, and it was well worth it. (not a sponsor, I like what they’re doing).

Times to play

Weekdays | 8:30-11:30 am | 5 - 9 pm | There is almost always play at these times on sunny days. Morning time is generally an older crowd, and evenings are a grab bag of all ages and skills.

Weekends are the same times, with Saturday and Sunday morning being EXTREMELY popular times.

The courts are always open during regular park hours— so if you want to play outside peak hours there's lot of opportunity to do so.

With pickleball growing in Fishers, new courts, and a Chicken n Pickle coming —  there's never been a better time to get started!
