A Visionary Artist with Indiana Roots
Jason Myers, originally from Logansport, Indiana, has established himself as one of the most significant contemporary artists of our time. With a career that spans across the globe, from studios in the Netherlands to Miami’s Art Basel, Myers has remained deeply connected to his Indiana roots.
His journey in the arts began in Indianapolis, where he transformed the city's art scene with the groundbreaking ARTBOX gallery. Myers' works, which often merge technology with traditional materials, have been displayed in prominent exhibitions, including the Mint Museum in North Carolina, the Cornell Museum in Florida and the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
A New Broad Ripple Landmark
The Gavin-Divergence sculpture, a towering 30-foot structure, is set to become a defining piece of the Broad Ripple landscape. Designed to be an interactive piece, the LED lights embedded in the sculpture will provide a dynamic visual experience that changes with the surrounding environment, making the sculpture come alive as a part of the urban landscape. This work of art is more than just a static structure, it’s a reflection of Myers’ ability to engage with the world through the lens of art and technology.
Gavin-Divergence will be crafted from metal, recycled scrap steel and standard building materials to create a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
The project is being funded by private dollars thanks to the Birge Family Foundation. The Broad Ripple Village Association (BRVA), Indy Art Center, The Penrod Society and many other organizations and individuals who care deeply about Broad Ripple’s beautification joined arms to ensure the installation would become reality.
When completed, the Gavin-Divergence sculpture will stand as a symbol of innovation, collaboration, and artistic expression. For residents of Broad Ripple, it will be a new focal point, a place to gather, reflect, and connect with the community’s growing cultural identity. For those visiting from near and far, it will be an unforgettable experience, reflecting the creativity and vision of one of Indiana's most accomplished artists. Ultimately, it will watch over those who make Broad Ripple home or spend their days working in the neighborhood.
