Council Approval Was Rocky
There was 10 minutes of conversation around sending Fishers tax dollars to non-profits that may not primarily serve Fishers residents. the Fishers City Council approved the grants with a vote of 5 in favor, 2 against, and 1 abstention. There's a high chance that in 2025's budget discussions (usually August), this will come up again.
Next Steps
With the council's approval, the funded organizations will receive the grants after signing contracts.
