New Luxury Hotel Set to Break Ground

At the State of the City address last week, Mayor Scott Fadness announced that a new luxury hotel will be coming to Fishers where the Chicken N Pickle was originally slated to go.

The new hotel will be developed in partnership with BW Construction and Ratio Design and the ground breaking will be soon.

More updates will be coming on the project but here is what we know about the hotel so far:

• Elevated dining venues featuring steaks, bourbon and speakeasy experiences

• Rooftop pool lounge and bar with an infinity-edge, resort-style design

• Fifth-floor sky bar offering panoramic views

• Premier meeting and event spaces designed for weddings, celebrations and corporate gatherings

• Curated amenities including a fitness facility, valet and concierge services

Fishers Freight Season 2 Loading..

While the Super Bowl this Sunday marked the end of the NFL season, you’ll only have to wait one more month for football to start back up here in Fishers.

The Fishers Freight are a professional indoor football team that competes in the IFL and plays their games at the Fishers Event Center. If you didn’t catch a game last season, they are high energy with lots of fan involvement and players diving over the partitioned walls into the stands.

Head coach Dixie Wooten is looking to lead the Freight to a successful season, and they just released their 2026 schedule.

You can follow along on the team’s social media and watch for single game tickets to go on sale soon.

A New Brunch Spot Coming to Fishers

Maple Breakfast & Brunch is opening a new location at the Union at the Fishers District, but it’s not new to Indiana. Maple Breakfast & Brunch has had a presence in Indiana for nearly 35 years with eight locations across the state.

The restaurant offers traditional breakfast and lunch fare, plus some gluten-free and vegan options. You can check out the full menu here.

👋Meet Jamal

Meet Jamal Corbitt, front office manager at Hotel Nickel Plate. If you’ve been to the hotel, you’ve likely seen Jamal with a welcoming smile on his face behind the front desk. He oversees and develops his team, addresses guests’ needs, and his specialty - he creates a welcoming environment where the service is genuine, intentional, and memorable.

His favorite part of what he does at the hotel is the human connection. “At my core, I’m people-centric and service-driven. Hospitality isn’t just my profession — it’s who I am. I believe in connection, giving back, and creating memorable moments that leave people better than I found them.”

And it’s not just hotel guests or myself that notice Jamal’s excellent service. Jamal was a 2025 recipient of the ROSE Award, which recognizes outstanding service and hospitality in the city of Indianapolis.

If Jamal had a free day in Fishers he would start it at Hotel Nickel Plate with a pumpkin latte and a walk along the Nickel Plate Trail. Then he’d grab breakfast at Derailed or Café Patachou. Next he’d explore Conner Prairie and catch a show at the amphitheater before meeting friends for some competitive fun at either the Escape Room or Topgolf. For dinner it’s either Sangiovese or Tiburon and lastly dessert at Handel’s Ice Cream.

Next time you’re walking on the Nickel Plate Trail pop in and say hi to Jamal. It will make your day a little brighter. And if you have kids or dogs with you, he’ll likely find some candy or a dog treat and make sure everyone’s waters are filled.
