Today is Wednesday, April 1st, and we have a huge weekend coming up with the 2026 NCAA men's Final Four coming to downtown Indianapolis. We're going to talk about the teams coming to Indy, the Hoosiers who are still competing for a national title, fan events, concerts, and more. And if you stick around till the end, we're testing out some sweet surprises from our friends up at Glover's Ice Cream out of Frankfort. This episode of Get In is brought to you by Hope Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling. From pipes to power and everything in between, Hope is your one-stop shop for all your home service needs. And they want to give you a membership for free if you call and mention Get Indiana.
They're Indiana-based, they stand behind their work, and they've built their reputation on showing up when it matters. If you want one name to trust when your home throws you a curveball, check out Hope at hopeplumbing. com. Shane, before we get into today's top headlines, I got to know, what have you learned about Indiana this week? I think what I learned about Indiana, it's not necessarily that it happened here, but you can kind of hear it in my voice a little bit. I'm still recovering from where I just was.
I'm an Iowa guy. Went to the University of Iowa, was cheering on my Hawkeyes down in Houston. Uh they made a run to the Elite Eight. So, when they beat Nebraska in the Sweet Sixteen, that's where my voice went hoarse. It's come back a little bit. Um played a great game against Illinois, but came up short in the end.
And what I noticed being down in Houston is that there were a lot of fans from every school. Nebraska traveled really well for the Sweet Sixteen game. Uh outnumbered Iowa 80-20 probably in that matchup. Houston was the team who met Illinois in the Sweet Sixteen, so they're playing in their backyard. So, ton of ton of red, ton of Cougars fans there as well. Um, but for what I've seen, you know, Indianapolis has hosted first and second round games.
They've hosted a regional. Now, they're hosting the Final Four this weekend, and that Indianapolis hands down is the best March Madness host. I mean, there's no argument. Just the hoopla that surrounds it. Indiana being a basketball state, yes, that plays into it. But, we get up for events like this.
And being down in Houston, like, yeah, there's some buzz going on, but the Astros were in town for opening weekend. There was a golf outing going on. Um, a major They got a big convention center there, too. So, they had something going on. So, it was just like there were a lot of other distractions from them hosting a regional. And having Houston, again, the hometown team playing in that regional.
And it just felt like um it was just kind of secondary to what was going on in the city. So, I would just say that uh what I learned is that yes, there are other cities across the country that can host March Madness, but nobody does it better than Indiana in Indianapolis, specifically. Heck yeah. I could not agree more. We are the best and we're going to be the best forever. Today's episode is all about your guide to uh Final Four weekend here in Indianapolis.
All the fun stuff going on. It does kind of suck that it's Easter weekend, but you know, I think
People plan around it. I mean, I was out of the United States. Uh one of my best friends from my time in our fellowship, he actually moved down to Colombia, got married down there. So, I was the best man in a wedding in Colombia. And I don't know. I mean, I just go back to there's no place like home.
Uh getting to come back to the Hoosier state and I mean, we were we so flew to Medellin, Colombia, then back to Fort Lauderdale, then a road trip back up the East Coast, and I mean, we were in Charleston, Savannah, and St. Augustine, and all these old historic places. And what I've learned is whether it's like the old historic East Coast or it's Indianapolis, like history is just up to you. Like it's up to you. You can go study the history of Indiana. You can study the history of one of the oldest cities in America in Charleston.
Like it's in the eye of the beholder and it's up to you. All of that is largely a part of why we do what we do is put out the content for you to consume. So, uh I think a lot of what I learned about Indiana is it's, you know, by the years we're probably not as historic as Charleston. Obviously, they're a way older city. But there's still cool stuff to learn in the state of Indiana just like there's cool stuff to learn about other places. Okay, let's get into the top headlines from around the state and let's talk about your guide to Final Four weekend here in Indianapolis.
Shane, take us off. Where we starting? We're starting with the teams coming to Indianapolis and this is as probably as good as it gets. These These four schools coming to Indy this weekend are no stranger to the Final Four. So, we just start with the East region and the Yukon Huskies and Braylon Mullins buries like basically a half-court heave at the buzzer in an insane finish. So, we'll have more on Mullins in a second cuz he is he is a Hoosier native as well.
Shout out go to Cougars.
But you've got Yukon as the two seed now out of the East region. This is their eighth Final Four appearance, their first in Indianapolis. And when they get to the Final Four, they win. They're six and one in the semifinals all time and if they win in the semis, they never lose in the championship. They're a perfect six and 0 in championship games. That's hard hard to do.
Undefeated in championship games.
Undefeated again. Just went back-to-back in 2023 and 24 under their current head coach Dan Hurley. So, keep an eye on the Huskies. Uh moving to the South region where I was at down in Houston. Illinois emerged out of that region as the three seed. Knocked off Houston in the Sweet Sixteen game after Iowa knocked off Nebraska.
Me and buddy stuck around to watch that game and Illinois looked the part. And And we honestly were kind of cheering for Houston even though it would be a a road game for Iowa playing in that environment. But you could just tell on the floor that Illinois was elite. Like they're a very very good team, and they showed that then in the Elite Eight game against the Iowa Hawkeyes. Um so, them knocking off Houston down there in that region is a big deal. This is their sixth Final Four.
When they get to the Final Four though, however, they struggle. They're just one and four in the semis. They lost to the eventual champion Kentucky way back in 1949 and '51. They lost to Michigan in 1989, the only time the Wolverines have cut down the nets in the finals. Uh and then they reached the national championship game in 20 uh 2005, pardon me, and lost to North Carolina. They've got a couple of Hoosiers on their team as well.
no champions?
No national title for Illinois.
Okay.
got six for Yukon, nada for Illinois. And now we move to the other semifinal matchup. In the Midwest, Michigan. You could look at the entire uh resume of teams thus far, and I would say, I don't know who you picked in your bracket. I took Arizona. Boilermakers.
Boilermakers. So, you went with the hometown team. Uh I went with Arizona. I don't feel I mean, Arizona has looked very good. Michigan has looked unbelievable. Like they are just burying teams. They've scored over 90 points in all four games. They just took out Tennessee. I think it was by 33 in the Elite Eight game.
ran away early.
Oh, they ran away. They They were up by 22, I believe, at halftime. Like there was there was just no doubt in that game. Uh Michigan, nine Final Four trips. So, the most out of all four schools in this bracket. However, they're seven and one in the semis, which is a lot like Yukon.
Yukon is, I believe, six and one. But in championship games, one in six. And I just mentioned it, that lone championship came in 1989. They beat Illinois in the semis, and then knocked off Seaton Hall Seaton Hall in overtime 80 to 79. They've got a guy No players on that roster from Indiana. However, their head coach, Dusty May, born in Terre Haute, went to Eastern Green High School, was a student manager for Bobby Knight at IU for 5 years, became an assistant for about 15-16 years, got his first head coaching job at Florida Atlantic.
Actually took the Owls to a Final Four, if you remember, about 3 or 4 years ago. They got beat on a buzzer beater by San Diego State, and then he got the Michigan job. And I know IU fans were clamoring for Dusty May. Like when they were getting towards the end of the run with Mike Woodson before they just brought in uh uh Darien DeVries.
Yeah. It was Dusty May. Like I know Hoosier fans wanted him. They didn't get him. Now he's up north at Ann Arbor, and obviously He's doing all right.
They're doing all right.
that. Eastern Green, baby. Bloomfield, Indiana, represent.
So, two Midwest schools that Champaign is only what, 2 hours west of Indianapolis? Ann Arbor, 4 hours, maybe, up north. So, you will see a ton of orange and a ton of maize and blue downtown Indianapolis this weekend. And then the last team is actually the only one Indianapolis. This is the eighth time they've hosted the Final Four. Arizona is the only one of the four schools that has been in any of those Final Fours, and they won it in 1997. Oh boy.
So, the finals back then, a stadium that no longer exists, the RCA Dome, hosted that game. They knocked off uh believe it was Kentucky in overtime. They were also the national runner-ups in 2001. So, Arizona, they've got their hands full with Michigan in the semifinals, but again, it is a loaded field. Tons of Final Four appearances, tons of national titles between these four schools. Um the only one without one, Illinois. We'll see if they can overcome UConn, who knows a thing or two about winning at at this stage of the tournament. And then Michigan-Arizona. A perfect transition. I want to talk about Hoosiers, people with ties to Indiana that are still alive this tournament. I'm going to start with the headline.
I mean, you have to start with maybe the most famous college basketball player at the current moment, right? As of this week, he is He was on the Today Show, SportsCenter, the whole nine yards. Freshman Braden Mullens, the guy from uh Greenfield Central, right? Go Cougars.
Mr. Basketball last year.
Mr. Basketball in 25. The crazy piece, he didn't make it out of sectionals. Not last year, not as a senior.
cuz he lost to Mount Vernon, right? And Luke Ertel, the potential probable 2026 Mr. Basketball. Going to Purdue. Yeah, Purdue commit. That's crazy to think about. That the guy he just hit the most I mean, legendary shot.
Oh, yeah. One that years a decades from now will be replayed. Like they always played the the buzzer beaters and you can just watch them going back years and years. This one will live on forever in Yukon history. I actually think they Yukon played at Butler, obviously Big East, played this year and I think that he had a home field advantage. Yeah, huge convention there.
Uh we also have to talk about what? Illinois, I believe has two Hoosiers on their roster. Who do we got? They've got senior Ben Humrichous, and this is an interesting story. He's in his second year with the Fighting Illini. He comes off the bench.
He's played in all 36 games for Illinois this year. He started just twice, averaging close to six points and four rebounds a game. He actually had 12 points in the round one win over Penn. He graduated from Tipton High School, just north of Indianapolis. 2020 graduate. Team lost in the sectional final that year.
He started his collegiate career at Huntington University. NAIA, two seasons at Huntington University, transferred to the University of Illinois, was there for the 2023-24 campaign, and now is in his second season at Illinois.
He was named a second team All-Crossroads League uh player as a sophomore, averaging 11.9 and 5.9 rebounds per game at Huntington. So, he was two-time second team all-conference, basically, is what it was. And then he transferred to Evansville. He missed eight games due to a foot injury in the middle of the season was able to play. Then when he came back he was named the Missouri Valley Conference all newcomer to the all newcomer team.
14.7 points, 4.7 rebounds. That's wild. He enters the transfer portal.
That is the current state of college sports. And that if you show out at a small school like that, so he's the Missouri Valley Conference newcomer of the year, transfer and then scoring almost 15 points a game, like you are going to get looked at by these major conference programs. So Illinois, not far away from Evansville, uh they scoop him up, probably got some NIL money to go with that. And now he's playing and contributing significant minutes.
I'll tell you the best part about this. Following the conclusion of the 2024-25 Big Ten regular season, he received the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.
Love that.
Love this guy. All right, who else do we got?
They've got one more, uh right here in Indianapolis. Junior Jake Davis, now with Illinois, 6'6" forward. He's played in all 36 games, 21 starts this season, scoring over uh close to 5 1/2 points a game, couple rebounds uh per contest as well. This tournament he had uh a game-high five points in that Sweet 16 win when they beat Houston. He graduated from Cathedral in 2023. When he was a senior his team lost in the regionals to the eventual 4A champion Ben Davis. Ben Davis went a perfect 33 and 0 that season, so they ran into uh what was obviously a juggernaut that season. His junior year, however, he did win a state title uh with head coach, I believe Jason Delaney, who had won a title at three different schools. And now he's won his fourth title.
Fourth title, second at Cathedral. So Delaney uh had a chance to coach Jake Davis. He started his collegiate career at Mercer University down in Georgia, and he's been uh with them Rich Wester at in Champagne now for each of the last 2 years as well. So, you've got another transfer situation where started out at a mid-major, now with a a Big Ten program that doing very well, and getting minutes. Start. Hey, and just so everyone knows, he in high school was on the academic honor roll with a 4.21 GPA. So, we've got sportsmanship, academics, and they and they not a place.
He also lettered in football. He was a member of member of the 2020 IHSAA state championship football team. This guy does it all.
So, you got three three players competing for a title, at least one Hoosier is guaranteed to be playing in the national championship because of that match-up. Someone with Indiana ties will be playing in the men's basketball national championship.
then if Michigan wins, you're guaranteed someone's a champion. I do want to talk about what the fan festivities look like. The first thing we have to talk about is the music festival lineup is absolutely insane. So, we have 21 Pilots on Friday, April 3rd. Then we have Zac Brown Band on Saturday, we have Megan Moroney on Sunday, and Easter Sunday, we've got Megan Moroney, and then at night, right, we have Post Malone as the headliner. They are all free to attend or they're at the American Legion Mall. Is that just north of Monument Circle downtown?
Pennsylvania and Meridian.
Do we have times? Have they posted times yet for these? Uh it's mostly like early to mid-afternoon, and then just kind of carries through the evening. Not just concerts, we also have what the Arts and Culture Festival, the Swish Arts and Culture Festival. So, this has musician, spoken word artist, dancers, and the work of visual artists downtown at five different locations. What are the What are the five locations?
Five locations are Monument Circle, the Indian Indiana Convention Center, and then some street locations on Capital, Virginia, and Meridian. And also free to attend. We can see some cool artwork that's happening downtown. That'll be great. Uh the then there's also the Fan Fest. They like I've been seeing so much content about the Fan Fest. What do we have going on there? Fan Fest is at the Indiana Convention Center. We've got autograph signings, celebrity appearances, interactive games. Tickets are only $15 and it's free to attend if you're a Capital One card hold member, a Final Four ticket holder, if you've got tickets to the Final Four of the National Championship, if you're a military member, college student, and children younger than age 13.
Then we have the tip-off tailgate happening on Georgia Street. They have pep rallies, basketball activities, giveaways, food, drinks. Runs all four days. So, this will be April 3rd. Is that Friday, Saturday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday.
the That's the full four day look.
I love it.
And they'll have watch parties not just for the the semi-final and National Championship game, but also the women's tournament is playing out as well.
we're hosting D2, D3, and NIT
NIT Championships.
Yeah. All at Gamebridge Fieldhouse on Sunday, April 5th. So, those are where we go back-to-back-to-back.
a triple header. D2, D3, NIT. If you want to see some other good basketball on Sunday at Gamebridge, that's awesome. I mean, a ton of fun stuff. I always love it when Indy gets to play host. We are the greatest host. When it comes to hosting these big events, these big, you know, whether it be sporting events or conferences or anything. I just love it when we roll out the red carpet. I know that downtown Indianapolis is going to be crazy. Here's the question of the day. If you're Post Malone, you fly it What do you think he's doing besides performing?
What do you think he's like?
going to say like I mean, he's got to be getting a steak at St. Elmo.
what makes us an unbelievable host for these events is we have the hotels. You've got basically just the walkability of downtown makes it easy. So, no matter where you're staying, getting to Lucas Oil Stadium is very easy. Like, you don't need to Uber even if you're north of Monument Circle. Like, it's what? Maybe a 15, 20-minute walk down there.
Um if it's cold, which I haven't looked at the forecast for this weekend, but if it is cold and rainy or cold and miserable, like you could take the skywalks. You You have to, you know, be on the street. You can kind of navigate through the downtown buildings to stay indoors. Uh there's so many things going on. And then the people just get excited about it. And I think that all starts at the top with the Sports Corp.
It's like them and the NCAA. The reason we're such a great host is that they rally the volunteers together to put on these grand events. And it again, they're volunteers. It's a lot of unpaid positions. I've It's where I got this. Like I've worked some first and second round games, a regional and when Indianapolis before uh people just get up for it.
So, whatever your background is, if you're want to be fan facing or if you want to be behind the scenes, whatever it is, there's so many hands that go into the pot to make this type of event on this scale work time and time again. We've just got the blueprint for success.
If you're visiting for Final Four, here are my recommendations. On Friday, you have the 21 Pilots concert. You're going to hit up 16-Bit before you go to the concert. It's right there. Pretty close. You got the arcade bar, the slide, the whole nine yards. That's your spot to pregame for the 21 Pilots concert. It's going to be electric. Maybe even Five Iron is right there. You could swing some golf clubs. Then So, we've got two games on Saturday night. 6:09 tip for Illinois-UConn, 8:49 unless that first game goes a little little long for Michigan and Arizona.
Yeah. Okay, well then you're going to go you're going to go breakfast at Cafe Patachou. You're going to explore the fan fest, all the activations, all that fun stuff there. And then you're going to get your pregame on for the games at Clayton's. That's the new spot. It's been open I mean going on a year now.
It is a rock and country music spot. Our boy Clayton Anderson, he absolutely crushes it there. I'm sure he's going to have the best live music rocking this weekend. You're going to do Clayton's. You're going to go to the games. You're going to have a great time.
Then Sunday, you're going to wake up. You're getting Side Door Bagel. I believe in 2023 they were voted one of the best bagels in America outside of New York City. So, this is a top-tier bagel shop. They have some amazing amazing combos there. You're going to go get a bagel.
You're going to get ready for Sunday. It's Megan Moroney. You're going to get ready for her and Post Malone. You maybe go walk around, check out the tailgate. I think that's that day on Georgia Street. Tons of fun activities.
And you've got the three championship games.
What? D2, D3, NIT?
Mhm. Dude, go support triple-header bat. You could see a lot of good basketball this weekend. Then, of course, if you're coming to Indianapolis, if you're from out of town, you're coming in town, you've got to go get shrimp cocktail and steak from the one and only St. Elmo Steakhouse. It is the spot.
Uh you you can't beat it. And then, you know, Monday, you got to get your mind ready for the championship. Hopefully, your team has, you know, made it that long. And that's your weekend in Indianapolis. Enjoy the time at the airport. If you're driving in from Michigan, if you're driving in from Illinois, Shane we have a fun surprise to end the episode.

Hart Company, where your next home sweet home is waiting. Enough about basketball, we have a sweet ending to this episode, Shane. Today, we're trying some ice cream from our friends at Glovers and have a very special special announcement. So, first off, we're going to try uh boiler chip.
Here's the description for what boiler chips comes out to be. As an avid ice cream lover, President Mitch Daniels turned to Purdue Food Entrepreneurship and Manufacturing Institute to develop a new Boilermaker treat. Boiler Chips was created, tested, and selected by Purdue University students. That's pretty cool. And produced by Glover's Ice Cream using the original Purdue Creamery churn. Portion of the proceeds support student innovation and entrepreneurship in the Department of Food Science. Boiler up. In honor of our Boilermakers and a heck of a year. It is. Some Boiler Chips.
Another run to the Elite Eight. Uh nothing wrong with that.
already tell I'm going to love this one. Mhm. Caramel. Chocolate chips. Mhm. Dude, that's fire. We've had a few episodes where we taste test. They're always the best episodes. What I love about Glover's is that it's made here in Indiana. Frankfort, to be exact. We have two more really good ones to round
to have to go in the freezer. That was just a warm-up. Cuz we have a fun announcement. So, we actually, Shane, I don't know if you've I don't know if you've been in on the the work happening behind the scenes here.
of what's going on, but not the behind the scenes stuff. We actually, um partnered up with Glover's to release not one, but two ice cream flavors that are coming live this spring/summertime. Official date TBD still currently, but we have two fun ones. And we're going to reveal the names of our two ice cream flavors on the show right now. Mhm. First flavor with Glover's, we have Hoosier Pothole.
Now, I'm really excited for this one. Everyone knows potholes all over. Now, we finally found a pothole that we like. That is Glover's Hoosier Pothole. I'm not asking for a reimbursement on anything with this pothole. Oh, yeah.
So, we have peanut butter, chocolate chips, vanilla ice cream. Hoosier Pothole. This is the first sampling. We have not tried this ice cream yet. Just been talked about. Ready?
Mhm. That's good. I like Boiler Chips a lot, but I think I'm I think I'm leaning pothole right now. Dude, I love peanut butter. Yes. I'm a sucker for it as well.
I gave them my flavor profile and I was like, you know what? I love peanut butter and chocolate and vanilla ice cream. Better than I thought it was going to be. And the big thing here is the texture. It's like exactly how you would envision like all the bit bits and pieces of a pothole where the asphalt has kind of crumbled and broken up. That's exactly what you're working with here.
Yeah. Now now in your mouth. In your mouth. And very good.
It is literally the only pothole that we like. It's got chocolate chips. It's got peanut butter chips. It's gritty. It's Yes. It's But like in a good way. In a good way. Like not in a And there's not too much of it. It is just a a perfect texture where you're getting a little crunch with your ice cream.
Yes. So again, this is coming out here in the next couple of months. And where do we see this being? State statewide? Statewide. Statewide.
Here's the scoop. You like that? So we're doing two flavors. One, Who's Your Pothole? Another one we're going to announce at the end of this episode. And if you are someone that is in a position where you serve ice cream.
It could be at your local, you know, ice cream shack in your small town in Indiana. You could be at one of the biggest sporting venues in downtown Indianapolis. Wherever you are, if you are at a place where you serve ice cream, you need to hit us up. You need to bring in Who's Your Pothole. You need to bring in our next mystery flavor. Cuz that's what it's going to be this summer.
We're going to local ice cream spots all across the state of Indiana. Places that don't make their own. People don't know this. A lot of local ice cream spots all serve the same ice cream.
We were down at Connersville, and there was that little little ice cream like mobile station on the concourse. They were selling little cups, like one or two scoops for five bucks a pop. And they just had these massive tubs of ice cream. Yes.
This is where this could fit right in.
Or maybe you're a kid that wants a side business this summer slinging ice cream. You get a little ice cream. I will personally invest if you are in high school, I will invest in your ice cream cart if you go and pedal it around and sling ice cream to all your friends. But that's where we're going to put it. So, who's your pothole and our final flavor, they're going to be available this summer. So, if you're a place that serves 3-gallon tubs of ice cream, you need to hit us up. DM, LinkedIn, wherever it might be, let's get it hooked up. I want to see this all over Indiana. It'll be so sick.
It would be. The final flavor. So, we're doing our Hoosier Pothole, it's peanut butter, it's chocolate chips, it's vanilla ice cream. The final flavor that we're releasing for the summer is going to be Indiana's flavor of ice cream for the summer, guaranteed. We have Indiana sugar cream pie ice cream. It's going to be phenomenal. Our friends at Glover's, we're literally eating experimental ice cream at the moment. We have sugar cream pie, an Indiana staple.
Here we go. Oh, I got I got pie crust. This one just screams like summer/fall dessert. Like totally different flavoring from the the Hoosier Pothole and what we were working with there. Oh, yeah. There's a cinnamon cinnamon honey wave. Yes. I thought I saw like little specs of cinnamon.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then the pie crust, little chunks, little niblets. Oh. Dude, this is the ice cream This is a perfect dessert. We're the first people ever to eat the Indiana sugar cream pie.
sugar cream pie.
That is a flavor of the summer right there. Indiana sugar cream pie from our friends at Glover's. This is a monumental milestone for us. One, this is of vital importance. If you or someone you know sells ice cream at a local ice cream shack, at a high school sporting event venue, wherever it might be, you need to talk to us. We're hooking up Hoosier Pothole, Indiana sugar cream pie at all venues, at any ice cream establishment all across the state of Indiana.
Let's make it happen. Shane, this was a sweet ending to this episode. Happy Final Four weekend everybody. Shout out to all the visitors who are in town enjoying the best host city in the nation. And yeah, let's have a weekend. What do you say?
