Norwell is headed back to the state championship game after an impressive semi-state run at LaPorte. The Knights took care of Crown Point before knocking off McCutcheon to secure their spot in the 4A title game.
It was also a milestone moment for head coach Eric Thornton, who captured career win No. 500.
Now, the Knights will face powerhouse Center Grove in the state championship.
Senior leader Vanessa Rosswurm joined the show to talk about what’s different about this year’s group. She pointed to the team’s composure in the fourth quarter. Having played at Gainbridge Fieldhouse the past two seasons has helped, too. The experience of that environment, including the lights, the crowd, and the stage, has prepared them for this opportunity.
In Class 3A, Bellmont defeated Connersville 56-41 to advance to the program’s first-ever state championship game. Ashley Bleke led the way with 16 points in the championship performance, setting the tone offensively.
Head coach Andy Heim joined the podcast to reflect on the breakthrough. The Braves have won 17 or more games in each of the last 10 seasons, but this year, they finally broke through.

In Class 1A, Fremont is heading to its first state final after a dominant postseason showing.
The Eagles rolled past Monroe Central in the semi-state semifinal, led by a huge 29-point performance from Grace Scharlach. Then, in the championship game, Fremont overwhelmed Elkhart Christian 55-33.
Now, Fremont prepares to face defending champion Borden in the state championship.
In men’s college hoops, Purdue dominated Indiana on Friday night, delivering a statement performance in one of the sport’s best rivalries. Physical defense, efficient offense, and control from start to finish – the Boilermakers made it clear who owned the night.
